Los Angeles de Anaheim

I grew up in LA going to Angels games. At age 10, I moved to Memphis, mostly forgetting about my love for baseball. I started watching in July of 2002, noticing that we had a winning record. I watched us squeak into the playoffs and win it all. Been a devoted fan of Angels and baseball ever since. I currently live in St. Louis, finishing my masters.

The real reason Guerrero left...
It's in spanish, but he says he wanted a team committed to Latinos. I guess we lost too many Latinos since he joined us...
This is Why We Can't Make Trades!
Per MLBTraderumors:
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/07/angels-balk-at.html
In order for us to get Holliday, the Rockies were asking us for Adenhart, Howie, AND a Santana/Saunders. Rockies are out of their minds and are obviously not serious about trading him. Do they even realize that 2 of those 3 items aren't even prospects anymore?
Remember this when you complain about Stoneman/Reagins not getting trades done. Other teams don't treat us seriously and they try to buy our farm off for chump change.
Rockies can keep Holliday and shove it!

D-Mac to the Marlins
It's official, per rotoworld... no dollar amount (probably near-minimum), but it's a 1-year deal. He'll be fighting Jose Castillo and Jorge Cantu for 3rd base.
I sure was hoping he'd hold out and get invited to Spring Training.
D-Mac, sorry to see you go. Good luck at your new home. Hope you hit those 30 HR's someday.
News: Angels Sign 3B
Forget about Cabrera, our problems have been solved.
Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club announced today that third baseman Corey Smith, who played a key role in the team's 2007 Atlantic League Championship, has been signed by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Smith will report to minor league spring training camp in early March and is likely targeted to play at Double-A Arkansas this season.

Signing this guy can't hurt. Even though he's a professional minor leaguer at this point, he still has some potential. He was a 1st rounder from the Indians in 2000.
Nevertheless, I want DMac back on our roster.
Twins/Rays Blockbuster and Johan
Looks like this deal is technically not final, but:
Per mlbtraderumors, Twins have dealt Matt Garza, Jason Bartlett, and Eduardo Morlan to the Rays for Delmon Young, Brendon Harris, and Jason Pridie.
This will definitely have some ramifications for Johan Santana, but will probably just mean that the Twins want more MLB-ready pitching.
If they still trade Johan, mlbtraderumors suggests that this makes a deal with the Yanks, Red Sox, Mets, Mariners, and Cubs less likely, while he feels that Angels, Dodgers and Reds still have the pieces the Twins might want.
Trade KRod, Get MCab
First of all, most people are down on Krod these days. I am one of those. After the Rivera 3/45 and Cordero 4/46 signings, Krod is going to demand too much money for a closer. He'll probably be looking for 15+ over 4-5 years or more. It's obvious Krod cares about the money, because he walked out of an extension with us after the Rivera signing and has repeatedly said he loves pitching in Yankee Stadium. Shields and Speier are capable of closing, and we can find another quality middle relief pitcher.
So trade Krod to a 3rd team who then trades one or two stud prospect/players to FLA. This allows us to trade a small piece or two to FLA without losing HK or BWood, or maybe even Adenhart. Besides, FLA doesn't really need a 2B.
Then we have MCab, HK, and Wood, while only losing Krod, who I believe is very replaceable, as much as I hate to see him go.
New Fantasy Baseball League
Hey everybody, I know we talked about this a couple weeks ago, and I know a few people have already joined leagues. But I'm gonna start another league for any interested rookies. As long as you don't consider yourself stinkin' awesome, you're eligible to play in this league.
I'm using ESPN -- if you're used to Yahoo, ESPN's layout is a little different, but they've got a lot more features, PLUS free live scoring.
So if you're an Angel fan and want to join a fantasy league, then shoot me an e-mail at:

Aybar for Crede?
mlbtraderumors.com is suggesting the White Sox might need a new SS with Uribe's issues. They are suggesting (via Gammons) that the Sox might be interested in swapping Crede for Aybar.
We don't have a lot of use for Aybar, but I'd hope we could squeeze a little better than Crede for him.
Not sure if I like this idea... Plus it just adds more players at 1B/3B.
Of course, Gammons IS an idiot, so this might not be true...
Garcia for Santana?
http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/139850,CST-SPT-deluca17.article
Someone reporting the idea that Angels swap Garcia for Santana. This just doesn't make any sense to me... The article cited something about Garcia's performance in Angel Stadium, but I don't see that as a valid reason to trade a starting pitcher who has worked for us.
Maybe someone can clue me in...?
Torre gone?
Looks like they are waiting for him to resign or they will simply fire him...
Will be interesting to see what happens. I'm happy -- more turmoil and chaos for the evil empire.
Crede for Figgins?
Just saw an article in the LA Daily News:
http://www.dailynews.com/sports/ci_4322550
Looks like Figgins might be on the way out, which wouldn't bother me too much. But they might possibly get Crede. Not sure if I'd be really excited about Crede being here. He's had a great year, but his career numbers are still not that great (and it's more Boras for us to deal with). Also makes me wonder if we would be giving up on D-Mac...
Morales and McPherson
According to Rotoworld.com, Scoscia is debating sending Morales back down -- might be a good idea since his swing hasn't quite caught on -- I think he needs more time to hone in his swing in AAA.
If they did send him down, Scoscia said it would be likely that they recall D-Mac -- I'd like to see D-Mac back up here, but I'm not sure if he's ready. I thought his rehab record in AAA was a little sketchy... maybe someone can provide numbers for his time in AAA...
Wonder if there is someone else they could bring up instead. Any thoughts?
Bootcheck Recalled
Right handed reliever Chris Bootcheck recalled from AAA. Tommy Murphy sent down in his place.
Our bullpen has been seriously depleted in the last few days after two rookie starters and two veterans who struggled... Romero, Gregg, Carrasco probably can't be used tonight. Donnelly is iffy... Pretty much leaves Shields and K-Rod for us.
I'm guessing Bootcheck won't even be used... looks mainly like it's insurance if we get into pitching trouble tonight. And he'll be back down when Escobar gets reactivated.
At least this gets Murphy off the pine. I was hoping he would play more, but Scoscia has his ways. At least he's getting time in the field at AAA.
