I can't help but agree more with his analysis, particularly of Curry and Smart. It really disturbs me how much I hear on knbr how they should keep Smart...Hopefully the more insightful analysis's of Smart by people like Feltbot will help contribute to getting a coach who isn't nicknamed Keith 'Dumb'.

According to ESPN rumor (I don't have insider so I can't read it) Buki could be waived soon to clear up a roster spot. If he does, I think we should pick him up. Anyone know the status of his injury?

Golden State Of Mind How to improve our Roster (Join Melo Trade)

This is my first fanpost, so take it easy on me. Tried to put a lot of thought into this idea and really think it is actually viable for all teams involved. Here is what I suggest we do:

Trade Ellis while his value is high. No other way we will be able to get a great player, especially a big. I love Ellis, I think he is our best player, but I would much rather keep a PG who is defensively deficient, than a SG who is. Also, Curry's contract is far better at this point and he is still improving. I think Ellis will improve also, especially with less playing time, but I don't think it will be very significant.

It is FAR easier to find a good defensive SG than a good BIG defensive PG...that is the real issue here...who we can find to play along side the other player if we make a trade for a big man. For Curry we just need to find a good defensive SG, which is relatively common. For Ellis you need a good defensive PG that has size and can defend the SG position, this is FAR harder to find. Only places this can fit is with Dwill, Baron, Billups, Jru, Paul.

Next we need to Fire Smart. He is just a terrible coach during games. He has no concept of rotations, I feel like he is overwhelmed during games and just forgets and is just concentrating on running plays or telling players to get to specific spots. I would like a coach like JVG or Brian Shaw (local guy)

Here is the basis trade I would do (along with NYK sending picks to DEN): http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=5uh332k

GSW GET: NENE, Afflolo, ECurry Expiring
DEN GET: Ellis, Andris, AR, Galanari, Picks
NYK GET: Melo

Why DEN does it – They get talent back, solid starters and young talent, as well as picks. Melo is going to be gone no matter what, and he will not accept an extension unless he is traded to NY…so a trade HAS to be made to NY, otherwise DEN will end up losing Melo in the summer for NOTHING. This trade allows them to get a rising offensive star in Ellis to replace Melo’s offense to a degree. They also get AR/Galanary/Picks to build around.

Why NYK does it – They would get Melo for what they wanted: Galanary/AR/Picks/Expirings

Why we do it:
1) We get a post defender/poster offensive player in NENE who would be a perfect fit next to Lee and Curry.
2) We get an elite wing defender in Afflolo, who is a very solid SG starter who can also shoot the 3. Basically the ideal SG to play along side Curry.
3) We get another expiring, giving us the ability to land a FA.

This trade could also try to leverage to get some other players involved like Fields, Kmart, JrSmirth, but this is basically the premise and least complicated it can be.

Lineups;:::

GSW lineup:

PG: Curry
SG: Afflolo
SF: Wright
PF: Lee
C: Nene

Bench: Reggie, Udoh, Amundson

Next season we will have Gadz/Radman/ECurry gone, and pick up a legit FA PG/SG/SF that can come off the bench.
We would also have a new coach.

NYK Lineup:

PG: Felton
SG: Fields
SF: Melo
PF: FA pickup
C: Amare

DEN Lineup

PG: Billups
SG: Ellis
SF: Galanary
PF: Martin/Harington
C: Andris

they would be building for the future, have picks, have AR. That lineup does not look bad since Billups can make up for some of Ellis’s defficiencies like Baron did.

Hey, sorry to put this as a fanshot but I don't know where else to turn. I want to order a swingman jersey right now since they finally have M and S available.

What size should I get (M or S). I am 5'8 155 and want to wear a t-shirt under it normally.

Thanks,

decent article that I mostly disagree with. Having great shooting ability will make you a far bigger threat, thus a far better PG...When he says that getting an open shot for someone like jeff adrien is bad, all I can think is wait till Lee is back...

BTW, the trade idea at the end is very good (Vlad + BWright for Boris Diaw). I would love that trade.

What are your thoughts on an Ellis for Odom trade?

Lakers would have to throw in another contract, maybe S. Brown or Vuja-bag to make it work, but I think it would be a balanced trade.

Curry - Brown/Vju?
Williams? - Morrow
Odom - Buki
AR - Wright
Andris - Turiaf

EDIT: according to the article, LA is looking for a penetrator/scorer. Ellis fits that description.

EDIT2: Steinmetz on twitter thinks "The Warriors would become the longest, left-handedness team in NBA history. Wright, Randolph, Odom, Beidrins"....."Left-hand-est"

A long lefty team sounds good to me!

Three of the best per minute rebounders in the league (Odom, AR, Andris). Odom provides some good passing and shooting as well as defense for the three (a position we desperately need to solidify at the starting position).

I don't have insider, so I can't look at the details. But if we could trade CJ or Bell for the 10th pick, we'd be in business.

Draft Aminu with the 6th (if Cousins/Johnson/Favors are off the table)

Draft Paul George with the 10th pick.

Curry/Williams
Ellis/George
Aminu/George
AR/Wright/Aminu
Beans/Turiaf

Raja Bell will be waived to make room for Reggie Williams to sign for the rest of the season. Announcement coming tomorrow.

Pretty disappointing...So now the Jackson trade = Vlad? Also, really wanted to try to keep raja to try to sign him for next season. Why didn't we lose George? We could have had another injury exception for him anyways.

Some numbers to show that Kobe is not clutch at all...in fact...he's at the league average for clutch-ness.

"Over the last decade, by field goal percentage the best shooters in this setting have been Carmelo Anthony (13-28, .464), Pau Gasol (9-22, .409), Tony Parker (11-29, .379), Chris Paul (9-24, .375) and Shawn Marion (10-28, .357). Bryant over the same period is 26-89 (.292)."

Warriors get: Ray Allen, Hunter [OR Gay] (~22.5M expiring) + possible pick from Mem [No pick if we get Gay]

Celtics get: Mayo, Maggette [+ J.Tinsley]

Mem get: Ellis

This would be the basic skeleton of the trade, there could be some fillers or draft picks involved (not from the Warriors). Probably Memphis's projected 14th pick to the Warriors.

I think this could be a trade that goes through because it is a win/win/win trade.

The grizz get the Monta for Mayo trade they wanted.

The Celtics would become a championship caliber team again (they really aren't right now, especially with some of the moves that have happened...Cavs are killer right now and LA has been great without trade)

The Warriors are able to basically rebuild and save money in hopes for Ellison to come save the day. We finally get rid of Maggs 3 more years on his big contract. Also we get a draft pick to work with and ~22.5M in expiring contracts which could be HUGE if Ellison comes here and is able to attract the likes of Bosh.

Will this trade get done? Should it get done?

EDIT:
[What if the Warriors got Gay instead of Hunter? No brainer now?]

I think Steinmetz summarized my feelings best:

[Comment From LostHawkGSW: ]
When will Don realize that Monta is better off the ball as true SG, and Curry being a true PG?

CSN Steinmetz:
I don't know that Nelson doesn't think Ellis is better off the ball. But there is one thing that's kind of been nagging at me. There's been a lot of talk about how Monta's efficiency has gone down. Well, no kidding. He's handling the ball more and shooting more. He's not a true point guard so his turnovers are up and his shooting percentage is down. Monta Ellis was pretty efficient when he played alongside Baron Davis, though, wasn't he. Pretty sure he had a couple years shooting over 50 percent from field. That's pretty efficient. You ask him to handle more and shoot more, he's going to be less efficient. No surprise

Even Steinmetz agrees with me, people need to stop looking at Monta as the key problem. He is being forced into a situation to fail. He is simply doing what he is told. Saying that it's his fault for not passing on drives is insane to me, he is not a passer...he is a slasher. Yes Monta has some blame in that his game is not what we want it to be, but Nelson playing him incorrectly is the real issue.

The cavs clearly want to do whatever they can do get Amare, but the suns want more than just big Z(who they would have to waive) and JJ hickson.

ESPN/Sports center have said that there probably needs to be a third team to help sweeten the deal for the suns.

Could the warriors give Maggs to the suns to help sweeten the deal, and let the warriors waive big Z?

What deal do you guys think the warriors can actually pull off to dump Maggs contract (or get a player back)? It's not looking like we'll be able to get anything other than an expiring contract...or a hated player (Tyrus Thomas anyone?)

over 2 years ago 111910_montadunk_tiny LostHawkGSW 15 comments

Cleavland gets a backup center AND someone who can take over the game while Lebron is resting every game.
(IMO Cleavland's biggest weakness is that they cannot score as well when Lebron is out, and with this trade they bring one of the most efficient off the bench SF's in the league and don't hurt their backup center position...really helping their chances at a title this year to get Lebron to stay)

Philly gets a big expiring. (which I think they want to go along with Kapono's expiring, not sure though I could be totally wrong on this one)

Warriors get a great 3 that can pass, rebound, score, and spread the floor better than maggs did.
