AZ Snake Pit Diamondback Bars in Colorado

Does anyone know where a good place to catch a dbacks game in Colorado is?  Preferably in Denver or surrounding areas.  I have some friends coming in town and would like to go to an Arizona friendly bar.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  I have heard that the sportscolumn is a good place to catch a game, but its not necessarilly the best atmosphere.  Anything helps!  Thanks in advance guys!  Four more words needed  :D

Bleed Cubbie Blue Homerun (foulball) stories

Between everyone on this board there has to be an awful lot of baseball games attended.  Has anyone ever caught a homerun ball?  Most memorable?  Been close to someone who made a great snag?

My story happened last season in late May.  I went to go see the Rockies play the Cardinals at Coors.  We got to the park a bit late (drinks at Fados before hand) so the first inning was under way already.  We found our section in lower left field and headed down.  As we found our seats and saying hello to the GF's parents I heard the crack of Matt Hollidays bat.  I looked up and found the ball cleanly off of his bat headed right towards our section.  I reached out to grab it (ball would have landed right in my lap if i was sitting), then thought twice about having a broken hand, so I cradled it as it was falling towards my feet to break the impact a bit.  Caught it!  The ball never hit the ground and I didn't break my hand!  Got a standing ovation and people came down for the next two innings giving me high fives.  In the 3rd inning I went to the bathroom and the guy in the urinal next to me says "hey your that guy who made the catch!"  That's a pretty cool memory I will have for a long time.

Anyone else?

Bleed Cubbie Blue How did you hear about BCB?

I've always wondered how people make there way over to BCB.  How did everyone get here?  Was it from word of mouth, google, article on another website?  How long have you been posting here?  I bring this up because lately i've seen a lot of new people starting to post, which is great because I think Al does a wonderful job with this site and seeing more and more people on the site means its paying off (although I'd bet he'd still enjoy this without the numerous people on here everyday).

For me, I stumbled across this website at the early part of last season randomly.  I had googled a stat about the Cubs and saw a link to a fanpost for bleedcubbieblue.  I have to say the site name was pretty intriguing.  I signed up and signed in, and like many others I'm sure, sent Al an email asking "why can't I post after I've signed up!!"  ...24 hour wait period.... hmmmph

That being said, i am Interested to hear how you all found this place.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Keep It Wrigley

Some of you may have already seen this, but its news to me and I just scowered the site to see if it has been posted... Nothing so far.  www.keepitwrigley.org is a site for Cub fans to come on and do whatever they can to protest the inevitable name change to Wrigley Field.  Probably won't do much, but there is such a thing as power in numbers.  Check it out, sign up and voice your opinion.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Kosuke Fukodome Almost Certain

Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times is saying that Fukodome in Chicago is "almost certain."  I really hope this is accurate!  I don't know much about Geoff Baker, but if anyone would care to comment on perhaps his record when it comes to calling FACTUAL rumors i'm all ears.  Keep a watch, hopefully this happens soon.

Sorry if you don't feel this is diary worthy...just a bit excited.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Theres no I in team

After watching last nights sad performance, I started to realize this team is not playing as a "team", but more as individuals.  Each player is trying to be the guy who puts the team on his back and carries them through the playoffs.  I saw glimpses of this during the regular season, and it has come back full force in the playoffs.  Rammy who has a hissy-fit every time he swings for the fence and either strikes out or pops the ball up to the catcher, foul territory or any of the infielders.  Lilly throwing his glove on the mound in a toddleresque tantrum.  This team needs to relax, and stop trying to single handedly erase 99 years of post-season debauchery.  I can only hope that being down 0-2 will make these guys relax and just get back to playing good ball as a collective team!  I'm not counting them out, but what I have seen in the past two days makes me really apprehensive going into Saturday.  That being said, kudos to Soto for stepping up in a big game on a big stage.....

Bleed Cubbie Blue Right Field Bleachers @ Coors Field

I woke up this morning still shaking my head in disbelief.  The echos still in my head of "MVP, MVP."

What a crazy night in Downtown Denver.  Only the second time in franchise history, the Rockies made the playoffs....in style, and I was fortunate enough to witness this first hand.

From the opening pitch to the controversy at the dish in the bottom half of the 13th, I have never seen a collective group of people hanging on every single pitch.  It was truly a playoff atmosphere in Coors Field.

A few notes from the game:

Matt Holliday has my vote for NL MVP.  (yes, I know he took a bad route to the ball in the 6th that resulted in a tied up ballgame).  He's an average fielder, but an extraordinary hitter having an extraordinary year.

Garrett Atkins' seventh-inning fly ball to left-center to me, was a home run.  From our section in right we could see the ball over the fence, hit the top of the first row chair and ricochet back onto the field of play.  It ended up being called a double.  Those are the breaks though.

Bottom of the 13th play at the plate, you have to go with Tim McClelland's call.  He's a veteran umpire who rarely blows calls (especially in games of this magnitude).

Lastly, Troy Tulowitzki is a stud.  He should def. be strongly considered for ROY.

A great night, a great game, and a great ending for the city of Denver.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Rookie Hazing

If you guys haven't had a chance to check out this video after the cubs game yesterday I encourage you to do so.  Every year the rookies have to go through a little hazing, this year's is pretty um...eccentric.  Check out the link below, and watch for Fontenot, he's having waaay too much fun.

Bleed Cubbie Blue Magic Number

Will someone please put into their own words how you calculate a magic number including half game wins/losses?  I get the jist of it, but when someone asks me, I find it difficult to put into words.  I was just at lunch and someone asked me how they calculate that number, and I stammered through an answer that left the person more perplexed then before she opened her mouth.  (Insert innuendo here)  Thanks!

Bleed Cubbie Blue Jim Tracy

We are so close.  We have to finish strong!  I just wanted to post the Pirates manager's statement after the sweep.  I LOVE it!

"You've got to give them credit, we ran into a buzzsaw here. That's it. They are very focused and on a mission, and after today, personally, I think they're going to accomplish it."

First hand look at who we are and what we are going after!
