NFL fan since the start of the 1997-98 season, Broncos fan since then as well. I didn't have to wait for them to win the first or second but I will wait as long as I have to for the rest.
I never lost faith in any Broncos starting QB but I also think that we only traded up since Griese took over.

Tebow/Manning: So what the heck will 2012 hold for us?
All this was probably inevitable. Peyton Manning was a free agent the minute the Colts took a nice lead on on the Luck Sweepstakes this past season and even though they almost found a way out they still got that number one pick.
Business decision… easy. Manning was the face of the Colts but with only 1 championship in 14 years and that new car smell long forgotten all that was left was an expensive old car. Classic? Surely, but they had a simple choice trade in the classic, it might be able to keep on the road for a good three or so years or you can drive the brand new Ferrari out right now. No guarantee that Ferrari offer will be there in a few years they jumped on it. Good move, it might look bad if that classic out does their Ferrari for the next few years but, who could laugh in four or five years when the classic isn't running and that Ferrari is a beast? Even if it's not the classic in it's prime, that just wasn't an option.
That said, I couldn't care less about the Colts. Denver is where I like to keep my focus and like a whole lot of people in Denver, really around the world, I loves me some Tebow! Tim Tebow is without a doubt in my mind the right choice for the Broncos, longterm. Peyton Manning is a player I have hated for many years, this exact moment is what many who know me had pondered for many years… Would I like Peyton Manning if he were a Bronco and honestly the answer is… no. I don't like Peyton Manning, I simply respect him, I respect what he does on the field and I hate him for it. Would I love to see him play for us? No question, the guy is a field general, really he's very much like Tim Tebow. WHAT?! Yes Peyton Manning is perhaps the only QB in the NFL right now that has that field vision that Tim Tebow has used to bring us alive, Tim uses it along with his build and athletic ability to make those amazing runs and Peyton uses it along with his confidence and accuracy. Tim can be the future in Denver because the biggest difference between him and Manning is his athletic ability and Manning's confidence and accuracy. Tebow couldn't teach Manning a thing, Manning will never be able to do what Tebow can but Tebow can learn what he lacks of Peyton's game and I hope he's given that opportunity if Manning is acquired.
Now that we are less sure that this decision will be made ANY minute. I'd like to take a second after the jump to look ahead of and even behind us. So what the heck will 2012 hold for us?

Rearview Danger! Tebow and the Post Season...
I've been sitting on my hands, trying not to jinx it, trying to find a balance between hype and what simply is…
Tim Tebow has proven himself as a clutch player no doubt. It's what all the doubters are feeling but aren't brave enough to say, Tim Tebow's will to win coupled with outstanding defensive play is as good as an extra 14 points on the board. Actually it's better than that because I'm honestly starting to wonder less and less about whether there will be a Tebow miracle week in and week out, Tim is magic or blessed or whatever. Tim Tebow and these Denver Broncos are perhaps the greatest dark horse playoff team in the history of the NFL.
At 3-5 I looked at the schedules of all AFC West teams and even with Cassel the Chiefs were headed nowhere, The Chargers had tough odds to overcome and they could have won 2 or 3 games more and I'd still see them finishing bad with their schedule. The Raiders are doing better than I'd expected but a good amount has been due to luck as far as I've seen, I have no doubt they drop at least 3 more games. The Denver Broncos were a team that needed in my opinion to somehow get to 6-5, they'd have 5 games left and would at best be able to drop 2 and win the West. There will be no AFC West wild card team this year, it's win the West or bust and it's now a two horse race.

Dr. Sleepless (or How I learned to waste time and mock the draft)
The 2010 NFL Draft is less than a week away and all the crazy post-Marshall possibilities have developed. This has pushed me to give more thought to this draft than ever before which is especially troublesome since I know as much about college football as Tiger Woods does about monogamy. I based everything on as much as I could figure out on player grade, pick value and team need and I tried not to force anything in the Broncos favor although I'm sure the 45th pick will draw much criticism as will the 59th pick situation (you'll see) but I honestly saw things falling that way without any team going for value much more than need. Oh and it stops at two rounds and then I just wing it... so without further ado...
What we are conditioned to say... (Forgetting the truth)
As fans we all hope for the best and brace for the worst. We fear change, we love our team, we crave stability, heroes. As people we hear the "experts" who we might discredit aloud but who we allow to sway our opinions. Our opinions are swayed very easily when change comes in like a storm and we are desperately trying to understand. We say that we need to be realistic, we allow ourselves to doubt, to see the "flaws" that it seems everyone else sees...

...in the face of adversity. (The Broncos unwritten)
As it stands, we stand, slate clean. After an off-season so dirty you might have bleached your skin, all that anger, all the confusion, all the gloom has to be snow capped. Even with the looming feeling of the Marshall situation, fixed or broken it will wash come September. Whether this team wins or loses, regardless of who's here and who's gone, this is our team and the 2009 Denver Broncos will stand tall or fall together.
What follows the jump will be my thoughts on the team as they stand and what I feel could make a difference...

Smoke and Mirrors: Tactics for a new regime
Amid the smoke and mirrors this off season has cast there is doubt and it is justified. You can side with McDaniels (or the organization, as people like to say) or Cutler but you can't pretend there isn't a whole lot that you don't know. There will be a lot of my opinion in this article but the fact is McDaniels and possibly the entire organization has been lying not just to Cutler but to the fans for quite some time. It's as clear as the backpedaling statements, tongue in cheek meetings and the half-hearted optimism that McDaniels has unfolded. Jay Cutler's made poor choices since and may flap his gums too often but he has never given anyone a reason to doubt that every word he breathed was true or at the very least believed to be true. This whole scandal has taken a direction today but is it as clear as the writing on every front page?

Wheelin' and Dealin' at the Highest of Prices... (Or the rumor game.)
The truth about this whole rumor business is that it is business, Schefter, Williamson and all the other sports writing spin doctors out there could care less about the truth as long as it can be exciting and/or controversial with just a hint of truth to it. It has been a while since I have written here, well anywhere, due to my move and more truthfully a lack of passion. Last night passion smacked me in the face and maybe someone already said it or perhaps somebody said it better but I've yet to see it and I'm saying it now.

Last Minute Heroics - October 14th, 2008

Six weeks are now in the books and not one of the five possible teams was able to reach their fifth win of the season thus far leaving the Titans alone at the top as the last undefeated team. While the Titans should be ecstatic about their early lead over the ret of the league there is still a whole lot of football to be played. This week's edition offers; In the Books - Week 6, the Game of the Week, Week 7 - Who's in It and Who's Gonna Win It, The Ten, and the Hero of the Week.

Last Minute Heroics - September 30th, 2008

We're a quarter of the way through the season and there are only three undefeated teams left and the surprise is which two teams aren't anymore as the power has seemingly shifted in both conferences. Unpredictable? Not totally, but the surprises were more than shocking and the NFL's greatest prize looks to be completely up for grabs this year. This week's edition offers; In the Books - Week 4, the Game of the Week, Week 5 - Who's in It and Who's Gonna Win It, The Ten, and the Hero of the Week.

Broncos Castoff Joins Rival
Lelie trips into Blackhole
Ashley Lelie is back in the AFC West this time he joins his fellow draft class-man and former Bronco, Javon Walker. Yes, Lelie is now an Oakland Raider, the latest of a series of questionable moves Al Davis.
Signing with the Raiders marks the 3rd team Lelie has been with since leaving the Broncos to pursuit his dream of being a number one receiver. In the two seasons he spent on Atlanta and San Francisco's rosters he has a combined 38 receptions, 545 yards and 1 touchdown.
Below is the story as reported by NFL.com:
The Raiders reached agreement with former 49ers WR Ashley Lelie. He will sign today.
Lelie was cut by the 49ers on Saturday. The WR spent his first four seasons in the NFL with the Broncos, who the Raiders face in Week 1.
Raiders WR Javon Walker is now questionable for Monday night’s game against the Broncos, his former team, with a hamstring injury.
