Astro analysis has got me thinking...

Over the next ten years, given:

a. current MLB talent
b. current organizational talent
c. current organizational philosophy

which teams will have the worst overall records?

Of course it's hard to predict GM firings or ownership changes, but given the current circumstances, who's setting themselves up the worst?

It has to be the Giants and Astros for me.

Wieters negotiations most likely dead

http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070815&content_id=2150688&vkey=news_ bal&fext=.jsp&c_id=bal

"I don't think were real optimistic," said Orioles scouting director Joe Jordan, who felt that Wieters was the best college position player in the Draft. "We're so far apart on everything, and I'm the biggest optimist in the room."

MacPhail has, ahem, phailed his test in Baltimore. If he weren't in charge, the deal probably would've happened. I'm livid. I can't remember the last halfway competent front office this organization has had. The one bright spot is Joe Jordan, and his excellent scouting just gets thrown out of the window this year. Christ.

Erbe has huge rebound

As an O's fan, it pains me to see his struggles this year. I was fully expecting him to be a top 5 pitching prospect after this season, but things haven't looked so good.

But tonight:

8 IP
4 H
1 ER
1 BB
11 K

I'm hoping this is a sign of things to come, not just a blip between bad starts like his game against the Jays.
