Sandritter: Lillard's 20+/10+ debut shared only by Oscar Robinson, Isiah Thomas..

Mark Sandritter of SBNation writes that Damian Lillard's debut on Wednesday night is one for the books: "Lillard scored 23 points to go along with 11 assists against the Lakers, becoming just the third player in NBA history with at least 20 points and 10 assists in their NBA debut, according to ESPN Stats & Info. Lillard was also the first player with at least 21 points and nine assists in his debut since LeBron James accomplished that feat in 2003."

Meagher: Batum shares early observations of Lillard, Freeland.

Sean Meagher of OregonLive posts an interview with Nicolas Batum from after Wednesday's practice. Batum shares his thoughts on rookies Damian Lillard and Joel Freeland, and things sound pretty promising. Among his thoughts for Lillard: "He's gonna surprise a lot of people. He's good, he's fast, he knows the game. And the other thing was he's such a good passer. He can pass the ball well. I didn't know that." And Freeland: "...People say maybe he's like a soft European shooter, like forward shooter, but no, he's got some big moves inside, he plays hard. I like it."

Page: Blazers among "Top Five Western Conference Teams to Watch"

Derek Page of HoopsWorld gives his opinion of the top five western conference teams to watch, and lists Portland as #2: "There’s no doubt that Portland has a wealth of young players that need seasoning heading into next season, but the talent already in place should curve that learning process and could generate postseason returns as early as 2013. Both Nicolas Batum and Wesley Matthews are primed for breakout seasons in the starting lineup and, combined with key rookies Meyers Leonard and Damian Lillard, could signal the Blazers’ return to prominence."

Trailblazers All-Hindsight First Team!

Let me begin by saying that I am excited for the Trailblazers. I think we got a few great players in this draft, and could not be writing this post in a more optimistic state of mind. That said, we...

Should we sign Solomon Alabi?

Big men are often labeled as "projects" of one type or another going into the NBA. Many teams roll the dice on someone that fits the physical ideal, and hope that the investment pays off. If there...

Out with the new, in with the old?

We will not have LaMarcus Aldridge forever. While the excitement of finding the next big thing in this deep draft could very well pay off down the road, we may be better served in this sell-high...

"Anything and Everything" Trade Drawer

Okay, folks - the wheels are turning now. Chad Ford says "anything and everything", and you must be saying to yourself, "I have nothing better to do until the Draft". What's it going to be, Couch...

Thomas Robinson and the great under-6'11" centers

I have been a little obsessed with Thomas Robinson these past few weeks of the draft season, especially since the lottery. The realism to the idea that we could package trades to get the T-Rx has...

Should we bank it all on Thomas Robinson?

One inch. At 6'9", Thomas Robinson is one inch away from being consistently talked about as a game-changing, athletic, defensive beast of a center. If he were 6' 10" (by some accounts, he is),...

Matthews, #11, and Freeland rights for Iggy?

Hello, LB! I am a long-time Blazers fan taking a break from Blazersedge to ask the question: what would you, as a 76ers fan, think about Andre Iguodala for Wesley Matthews, the #11 draft pick, and...

Kyle O'Quinn over Andre Drummond

I'm going to make this short and sweet, and then let the arguments begin: I think Kyle O'Quinn would be a better center for the Portland Trail Blazers than Andre Drummond. Andre Drummond: 18 yrs,...

The last few seasons of Blazers basketball have been downright mercurial. We have seen an immense amount of talent, bad luck, good luck (don't forget that one), and some incredible front office...

Will Mosley - Give this guy a job, or make a movie about him

He's 6' 7", but averaged 9.5 rebounds and 3.9 blocks this last season. This included a 14-rebound, 3-block outing against then-third-ranked Missouri. His average of 4.9 blocks last season was good for #1 in the NCAA. Look up some videos of the guys blocking - his technique is incredible. He's got a pretty touching story. Really unassuming, hard-working guy who did what he could to put himself through college. Poor guy suddenly lost his twin babies last month, and I'm sure he's not thinking about much basketball right now. I'd love to see him given a good opportunity, though.

Crazy trade ideas for the bored, or bored at heart.

We are inches from the long, empty month of waiting for the draft order. Feel free to use this as a crazy draft-trade scenario bulletin board for your boredom. A bulletin boredom. Mine: LMA and...

Eggers: Larry Brown "on Portland's search list" for GM or head coach

"Though Miller wouldn't confirm it, one person on the Blazers' search list as both a GM and coaching candidate is Hall-of-Famer Larry Brown, whose last coaching job was the Charlotte Bobcats." No real source here, but interesting food for discussion. Thoughts?

What would you do with our second-round picks?

Keep 'em? Trade 'em? What would you do with our two second-round draft picks? Personally, I am very excited about the second-round crop this year. I love having such a low risk factor - it just...

Javale McGee and the low risk/high reward first team

There are a few low risk/high reward players that could reasonably be had through Free Agency, trades, or the draft this year. Maybe they'll be what this team needs to make a championship run....

Nolan Smith to join Fridette, Walker for "Jimmer's All Stars" exhibition games

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Nolan Smith will be joining up with Jimmer Fridette and Kemba Walker in Utah later this month for two "Jimmer's All Stars" exhibition games. Any news is good news...

Kennedy: Blazers G Jon Diebler To Play In Impact Basketball Summer League

Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld.com is reporting that Impact Basketball will run a Summer League in Las Vegas this year. Not quite the same as in years before, but it looks to have a legitimate showing...

A case against POTF

There will be talk about grabbing our Point Guard of the Future until the next Trade Deadline, but I wanted to throw an idea in to the mix: what this team might just need is not a golden-boy...
