Recruiting: Top prospects visiting Louisville this weekend


Per multiple reports, the nation's number one prospect, Asia Durr, is visiting Louisville this weekend. Other players that are on official visits with the Cardinals are 6-foot-5 post Erin DeGrate, top-euro guard Angela Salvadores. Current commits Taja Cole and Brianna Jones are in town this weekend as well.

Sources: Christin Mercer to transfer to Jacksonville


Former Florida star Christin Mercer has verbally committed to transfer to Jacksonville. Mercer, who was suspended last year after being charged with a third degree felony, was the Gator's second-leading scorer at 11.8 points. Per reports, it was believed that Mercer took a plea deal to reduce the charge.

Alexis Jones is transferring from Duke


Per multiple sources, Duke starting guard Alexis Jones is transferring from the program. She is the second guard to transfer from Duke as Kiana Holland left during the season. Jones, who is recovering from a torn ACL, was the Blue Devils’ third leading scorer this past season at 13.1 points per game. She also averaged 5.3 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 as well. This is a devastating blow for the Blue Devils who already lost four starters to graduation: Chelsea Gray, Richa Jackson, Haley Peters and Tricia Liston. Also, contributing guard Chloe Wells was not a part of the team late in the years. More details to come later.

Mid-major: Stetson gets commitment from McKenna Beach (Cape Coral HS)


Per multiple sources, Stetson has landed its first commitment for the 2015 class in McKenna Beach. Beach, a 5-foot-6 point guard from Cape Coral high school in Florida, was named second team All-State this year. She was First Team All-Area by the Fort Myers News-Press and First Team All-Conference. Beach averaged 18.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 4.9 steals as a junior. Beach also plays for FGB AAU program led by Kenny Kallina.

According to Dan Fleser of the Knoxville News-Sentinel, two players who figure to be apart of the rotation this season are out until October after undergoing surgery. Jannah Tucker had a do-over procedure over her ACL and Mercedes Russell had foot surgery.

Per multiple sources, Stetson has landed versatile transfer Jo Paine from Santa Clara University. Payne, a 6-foot forward, was named to the West Coast Conference Freshman Team and was second on the team in points (10.3) and rebounding (4.9). Paine also was first on the team in three-point percentage at 37.5%. Payne along with Alexandra Ciabattoni, a 6’0"guard/forward, is the second transfer Stetson has landed in the past couple of weeks. They both with bring great size and versatility to the Hatters.

Maria Cornelius of Inside Tennessee has informed Swish Appeal that Diamond DeShields intends to transfer to Tennessee. Swish Appeal has confirmed this as well. DeShields was National Freshman of the Year and averaged 18 points per game and 5.4 rebounds. More details to come soon.

Kansas State "accidentally" grants permission to Leticia Romero to talk to MTSU


In a report by the Manhattan Mercury, the debacle that is the Leticia Romero case took another weird turn. Romero was actually granted permission to talk to one of the 94 schools on her list, Middle Tennessee State. But, the problem is that Kansas State didn't mean to give her that permission to talk to the Blue Raiders. As a matter of fact, once the Wildcats realized that they gave Romero that permission, they immediately tried to rescind it -- they claimed it was a "clerical error." One has to feel sorry for Romero and all that she's enduring.

Kansas State asks for their AD's letter to be removed publicly, a move that has been denied.


Kansas State has sent a letter to the Manhattan Mercury requesting the immediate removal of a specific letter - the letter in question is that of athletic director John Currie's. In the letter, he stated: "Although it is unprecedented, I believe that is in the student-athlete’s best interest for the committee to reconvene to consider this new information and potentially approve her request for a conditional transfer release."
