Talking Chop What do the Braves do with Myke Jones?

HI,

Just went to see the M-Braves play last Saturday night. Myke Jones put on quite the show. He was on base 3 times and stole 2 bases easily. He was in the pitcher's head every time he got on base. Can't tell you how many times they threw over to 1st when he was on. Not to mention, the two plays he made in CF. One of which, I thought when the ball was hit, there was no way he would get to it. He seems to be doing a great job with the transition to CF. But now that we have Bourn, what does that do to his chances of making it to Atlanta?

Not that this gets him to the majors, but he was also very friendly. He came over and talked a minute or two, signed my little boys ball, and took a pic with him.

Here is the info:

Cody Ross, RF, Florida Marlins Tuesday 7/20, 8:46 PM CT
Cody Ross is drawing a lot of interest from the Braves, according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Our View: Atlanta had two special assistants at the Marlins game on Tuesday, Jim Fregosi & Dom Chiti. They were there to watch Ross who could become a serious option if the recently activated Nate McLouth doesn't impress.

Just don't like the way this looks. I am not saying Cody is bad, just worry that he is not that much of an upgrade for what we might give up.

From fanball.com

Dan Uggla, 2B, Florida Marlins Tuesday 7/20, 9:11 AM CT
According to the Miami Herald, the Red Sox, Yankees, Rangers, Braves, Rockies and Phillies are all interested in Marlins second baseman Dan Uggla.

Our View: However, the Marlins no longer appear overly inclined to move him. That being said, with the long list of heavy hitters looking into his services, Florida could receive some very competitive offers for its long-time second baseman.

Talking Chop Strasburg pitching?

Anyone have any idea looking at schedule if Strasburg will pitch when the Nats come to town next week? I have never been to Atlanta before, and would be looking a good 6 hour drive to get there. But for the chance to see Strasburg pitch, and Bobby in his last year, as well as Chipper, and getting to see Heyward. I got to think now would be a great time to make the drive. What about the hotels across from the park? This would be a quick, no frills kinda trip, go to the game and get up the next day and come back probably. Any advice on other hotels, driving in Atlanta?

Quick side note. My only Braves game was back during the home run chase. Went to see the Braves in St. Louis and to see McGwire. Glavine pitched the game, and got to see "Rocker" run in from the bullpen. The big thing was drove all that way, and McGwire got thrown out in the 1st inning for arguing balls and strikes. Fans started throwing trash on the field, and Bobby pulled the Braves players off the field. Thought my 1st game was going to be called off. Things finally settled down, and Tommy got the W in the end.

The coach mentioned in the article is the brother of a guy I work with. Looks like he is going to honor his commitment to play at Jackson State though.

Talking Chop Braves record since the break?

Can someone tell me what the Braves record is through last night, since the Break? I am trying to show someone just how good we have been since the break.  Hopefully with a little tinkering this team can play the whole season next year the way they played the second half this year. It looks like it will be tough to catch the Rox, but like someone laid out in another post, they do have a much tougher record than we do.

Talking Chop Not all is well in the Marlins clubhouse.

According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Hanley Ramirez and second baseman Dan Uggla got into it in the clubhouse after Hanley's early departure from Tuesday's game.

Our View: Uggla and some other teammates feel that Ramirez is phoning it in right now and is faking injuries to protect his league-leading .355 average while in the midst of an 0-for-14 slump. They have questioned his commitment to winning and feel that he's no longer motivated since he already has a $70 million contract. Not a good clubhouse attitude for a team in the thick of the Wild Card hunt. Ramirez is insulted, but the rest of the Marlins seem pretty convinced.

Talking Chop How does Edgar Osuna project?

I was at the M-Braves game Saturday night. What an awful game it was too. Bad pitching, bad fielding. For the longest, we did not even have a hit. While waiting for the game to start, I walked with my little boy down to the rail where a few players were signing. Edgar Osuna was nice enough to sign his hat. I do not hear much about him here on Talking Chop. So that got me to wondering what kind of player he is projected to be?

Talking Chop Where do I send cards for autos to spring training?

Long time reader, but this is my first post. Can anyone tell me where to send some cards I would like to get autographed? I have seen several slightly different addresses online for the Braves at Wide World of Sports. I have had some success in the past with this method. I guess my favorite autos were of Maddux and Javy. I am looking forward to some M-Braves games this summer. I missed seeing Hanson last year, but did get to see Glavine make his rehab start. Seemed like a great guy. He was signing autos in the concourse down the left field line. He was very friendly, and so was his wife.

Thanks so much,

MBraves
