Traditions, rituals and superstitions for the BCS National Championship Game

We are approaching the date when the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and our Crimson Tide of Alabama will meet on the gridiron to see who will be crowned Champions for this college football season. I...

One mother of a recruiting battle

Story on commit Landon Collins, favorite part of the article. COLLINS KNEW HE wanted to play for Alabama when he saw the Tide beat Florida 31-6 in Tuscaloosa his junior year. "I just felt the love when I got there," he says. "I stepped on the field and it just felt ... big." Roll Tide

Dre, Trent and Dont'a to the NFL.

Kind of a forgone conclusion, but best of luck to these three in their NFL careers.

Ole Miss-Alabama game still legendary

Story on the first televised night game Ole Miss/Bama @ Legion Field 1969. My favorite part of the article: "Coach," Arledge said, "we're not going to be able to do the night game because the candlepower of the lights is not strong enough. Do you think you could do something about it?" "Don't worry about it," Bryant replied. "I'll talk to the mayor. If he won't do it, he won't be re-elected." "Bryant talked to somebody," Cook said. "We sent somebody to check the lights again. They were good enough. We did the game."

Bama players released/cut by NFL teams.

Sadly as NFL team trim their rosters to the 53 man limit there are several former Bama players that are unemployed now. JPW was released by the Falcons, Ramzee Robinson was let go by the Browns, Chavis Williams didn't make the Ravens roster and Brodie Croyle's attempt to back up Kevin Kolb in Arizonia ended as the Cards cut him. Here are some of the transactions from yesterday - http://www.kansascity.com/2011/09/03/3119664/nfltransactions.html. Really hate it for JPW as he seemed to be the solid #2 to Matt Ryan in the ATL - the lockout really hurt him and due to some stupid NFL policy he was not able to start practicing until well into August - http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/video/nfl/2011/07/31/Falcons_King_NFL_Falcons_rules.SportsIllustrated/

Community embraces football season

Ivan Maisel has an excellent read on the rebuilding efforts in T-Town and the impact it has had on these players. Tomorrow is going to be a great day in Tuscaloosa as the Crimson Tide runs out onto the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium and will be a great 'distraction' and hopefully will renew the spirits of some of those who had lost everything on April 27. Being in an area that was hit pretty hard that day, it is a wonderful feeling to see buildings being rebuilt, houses being repaired - although things can never totally 'return to normal' perhaps all those affect can get back to a sense of normalcy.

CECIL HURT: Alabama's transformation is amazing

Its not insightful, but I was thinking the same thing the other day how these team has transformed from not being able to beat mid-majors to beating top-25 ranked. In November I had given up hope that this team would be able to do anything this year, but CAG has gotten this guys to play great basketball the past month.

I know this has been posted but I can't stress it enough. I hate Tennessee.

This is my favorite play of all time in the Bama vs. Tennessee series. It was the first Bama game that I attended and still ranks in the top 3 of games I have been to.

Antwan Odom violates NFL's PED policy

Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Antwan Odom has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, the league announced Friday. Odom's suspension takes effect immediately. He faced a suspension earlier this season but appealed, which slowed the process. Now Odom will begin sitting out games starting Oct. 24 against the Atlanta Falcons, once the Bengals (2-3) complete their bye week. Odom also will miss the following games against the Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts. He can rejoin Cincinnati's active roster on Nov. 15. Odom has been battling injuries this season -- he left last Sunday's loss to Tampa Bay with an undisclosed injury -- and has just four tackles and no sacks. In October 2009, when he needed surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon, Odom was the Bengals' top pass rusher and was tied for the league lead with eight sacks at the time. It hasn't been very good for Alabama football the past week - just glad none of our current players have been in the news for things like this. (knock on wood)

McClain has yet to file paperwork

Yeah, yeah...I know there are some that think he will stay and some thing he is gone, but the most interesting piece was the last bit. Along with McClain, UA cornerback Kareem Jackson is considered an early entry possibility from the Crimson Tide. Jackson, really? Seems to me that he is usually one that gets burned.

This is just an amazing picture - no wonder Mallet was a little off that day.

Tide - Vols on CBS

"Tennessee’s football game at Alabama on Oct. 24 was picked up Monday by CBS and will have a 3:30 kickoff. The Vols appeared on CBS earlier this season in their 23-13 loss at Florida, while the Crimson Tide have defeated Arkansas (35-7) and Ole Miss (22-3) on the network. Alabama hosts South Carolina this Saturday night on ESPN, while Tennessee is off." Over/Under on how many times Verne calls someone Donte Stallworth?

The NCAA must love OSU ...
