What a year the organization has had...
From the Hue Jackson press conference (hiring) with Al Davis' death to Reggie McKenzie!
I really miss Al.
The nation loves and miss you Sir!
Nnamdi; 2011 - Raiders may keep him?
Cut Chris Johnson and save the dineo Al.
Carlos Gonzalez- 2010 Stats away from Coors Field
any thoughts??
Scott Hairston non tendered by SD Padres, sign him for RF??
Is this a RF solution??
A possible RF solution??
How about trading for Andrew McCutchen from the Pirates to play RF for Oakland next year??
Maybe Pittsburgh could use LHP Bobby Cramer, INF Steve Tolleson, & OF Ryan Sweeney to get the deal done?
Here is McCutchen's stats for the 2010 season;
Season Team G PA H HR R RBI SB AVG OBP SLG wOBA wRC+ Fld WAR
2010 Pirates 154 653 163 16 94 56 33 . 286 .365 .449 .363 129 -14.4 3.3
It seems Beane has been targeting players from the smaller market/ limited payrolls teams here lately, so maybe this could fit the bill??
Any thoughts AN??

As the All-Star games apporaches let's hand out mid-term grades...
I am starting with the front office, then the manager, and finally a few of the players.
Settting the bar for our youngsters...
As AN approaches offseason GM/ projection mode of the team and it's imminent future, I wanted to see what AN thinks about our bright young offensive future Oakland A's. I want to see how AN views the expectations of these guys in waiting, and I am taking a shot at where I have the bar set for our specific youngsters in Sac-town.
Cardenas: I think Cardenas should shoot for Mark DeRosa and focus on being versatile in the infield and master playing at multiple positions but always starting and providing solid numbers with the bat.
Jemile Weeks: As far as Jemile Weeks, maybe he can vision himself after Chone Figgins and become a legit leadoff hitter/ dangerous stolen base threat???
Chris Carter: He definitely has the highest bar set of them all; Ryan Howard. At this point it seems the entire offensive future from the power stand point lies solely in this man. I sure hope he turns out to be the much needed "Superman" of the Oakland A's offense.
Brett Walace: As far as Wallace, I'm going to leave this one for the AN community, but in my opinion he kind of reminds me of Brett Boone, the good version (PED era in Seattle)
Comments welcomed!!!!
Go A's...
Oakland faces tough decision on Cust
I think they should retain him, if the A's feel he can improve...
If they think they can get better production elsewhere, then let him go!
Beane needs to give these young pitchers some offense so they don't have to pitch 9 innings and give up zero runs in order to get the victory.
What is AN's final take as the clock on Cust is running out???
Which of these former A's players would you most like to see return?
- Nick Swisher
- Milton Bradley
- Tim Hudson
- Rich Harden
- Other? (Please list below)
Run boy, run!!!!!
Mets want Beane?
What is the AN reaction around here?
The Value of Prospects revisited~
An excellent spin.
A's baseball going nowhere!!
Fat man Ray Rotto jerks sounds off...
Geren the lame duck...
Who's your favorite A's Starting Pitcher? (currently)
- Dana Eveland
- Trevor Cahill
- Dallas Braden
- Brett Anderson
- Josh Outman (gotta love the stirrups)
Which Veteran Starting Pitcher best fits Oakland's team
- Pedro Martinez
- Mark Mulder
- Paul Byrd
- Bartolo Colon
- Randy Johnson
The Mike Scioscia Playoff Face against Boston?
Every time he is on camera he looks like a cross between a small child who is terrified to look under his bed and a man who ate a really bad burrito with no bathroom in sight.
What do we do with Crosby?
I am hopeful of Donnie Murphy bouncing back and making things at least interesting because I just don't see Pennington's bat developing enough to be an everyday MLB shortstop.
Rating Bob Geren
Given all the injuries the team has faced and the lineups he has had to work with really seem unfair to take into consideration. Given we all agree he is better than Ken Macha, what about Ron Washington though? Do you think Oakland would have been better served with Wash?
I think I would give a grade of C+ or a grade of B-/// Maybe I see things different than other AN members, but in a way I'm not really impressed with Geren, but also not calling for his firing like we did with Macha.
I welcome any thoughts and insight on Geren's performance~
Billy Wagner 2008 NL All-Star... etc
Harden Over/Under IP's
Barton's May
Daric Barton went 1-for-4 and is in a 7-for-59 slide. He also is 10-for-69 (.145) in May. The Oakland record for the lowest average in the month of May (minimum 75 plate appearances) is .134 by John Donaldson in 1968.
Now what do you take from these numbers if your the A's brass?
Is there anything that can explain why the drop off from his dwindling potential?
How long before we option him to triple A?????
