Korver is a complete 1 trick pony. All he can do is shoot the 3, really he is very bad at everything else.

I'm not sure I'm familiar with this Korver guy folks are claiming can play passable defense.

I thought Theis was our only big that looked decent.

Mix in how "valuable" that team is to the league that year. So the closer they are to best record, the more "valuable" that team is.

Of course he was a good defender. That's why he was there.

One of the happiest times of my basketball life was the few days after game 1 of the '01 finals.

The guy single handedly carried his team to the best record in the EC and your big complaint is that he was inefficient.

He was one of their most reliable options.

And I think it's pretty safe to say that Iverson was as dominant and transformational as Shaq. Perhaps more so.
Commented on After free agency, where do the Wizards stand in the Eastern Conference? on Jul 25 2014, 4:28p - 1 reply
Well Iverson got 93 first place votes that year. Shaq got 7.

It's really pretty simple.
Commented on After free agency, where do the Wizards stand in the Eastern Conference? on Jul 25 2014, 2:57p - 1 reply
If he stopped shooting the defense would stop helping and the rest of the Wizards wouldn't get as good/open shots.

I think you just have to accept that it's two different things. It's not the Best Player award, it's the Most Valuable Player award.

I don't know the history, but perhaps they have a close relationship. Many athletes do with their HS coach.

Interestingly, it seems like Vesely is one of two top 6 picks in NBA history to spend 3 or fewer seasons in the league, drug and injury issues notwithstanding.

It's a difficult thing to quantify, but they are trying to pick the player that was the Most Valuable in the league.

Yes. That's what it is. "League's Most Valuable Player".

I'm actually not taking a position on that. I'm just saying he was at least top 10, right? Add a top 10 player to a solid playoff team and I think that makes a contender.

That's not true at all. In dictionary meaning, intent, or actual real NBA world usage.

I'm not a huge Westbrook fan. I think you take away Durant and Westbrook falls off. I think he could be a #1 option on a bad team that never goes anywhere because their best player is a bonehead.

It was a close call. Chicago had a much better record and were runaway winners of the EC. Probably counted for a lot.

We shall see about Gasol and his possible decline. He could have a second life on a team like Chi. Or he could look old and poor defensively.

The third year is a team option. So really it's a 2 year deal if we want it to be. At 31 he'll be looking for one last long term contract.

Bosh was a legit #1 option when we were dreaming about getting him in free agency last month. Now that he's back with the Heat he's old and not that good.

Plenty of 3rd year guards have averaged 23ppg. Your (incorrect) statement that it is unprecedented for a 21 yo is based on the majority of players staying till 20 or 21 until relatively recently. I think you're better off looking at experience, not age.

Truth to that? There is nothing there. Just speculation that a guy like Seraphin could be involved. But no basis at all that KS actually is involved. Except that he and Lebron have the same agent.

Agreed. But we did explore that at the time and the Magic were asking too much IIRC.

I think Blair is a fine pickup. But man, Jameer would have been better.

Perhaps I was imagining it, but it seemed like Rice came out of halftime channeling his frustration into playing well instead of trying to show the refs how wrong they were with every play.
