Baseline to sideline, sideline to baseline, Gerald Wallace is fearless.

The primary proof exists on tape. After studying film of the Charlotte Bobcats, much of which shows Wallace absorbing and dishing contact, it’s easy to think that the 6-7, 220-pound forward relishes abuse. Charlotte Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins furthers that image, alternatively referring to his team’s star as a "ball of fire" and as a player who "plays with reckless abandon."

I guess this means he won't make the final roster.

"Wallace, standing only 6'7, finished ninth in the league in rebounding and was the only player in the NBA this season to finish with at least 600 defensive rebounds, 100 steals and 80 blocks."

DA: Shoals added his two cents, and makes the point that Wallace might be getting into a diminishing returns argument. Basically, the available rebounds are going to be the same no matter who's out there, but why is Crash being relied upon to go get them instead of the bigger guys who are ostensibly better-designed to do that job? It's an uncomfortable question to try to answer if you are one of those guys.

"He's in the wrong sport," Jackson said. "He's out of control. I wouldn't say he's doing it on purpose, but a lot of that stuff he does is not basketball. You can rough guys up and run around and be the strongest guy and have success in college, but you're not going to do that in the NBA."
