"Walters says that Favre is expected to have surgery later this week to “release the tendon,” and the rehab is expected to require six to eight weeks.

That timetable would allow Favre to miss the offseason practices of the Vikings or whichever team for which he decides to play in 2009, and it would allow him to participate in training camp.

Walters points out that the biceps tendon is “one of several sources” of pain in Favre’s shoulder, and that a more extensive procedure ultimately could be needed to restore Favre’s health."

So much to our dismay here at the Norseman I think it is growing increasingly inevitble that the man in #4 will be wearing purple this fall. I wont speak for us all but my only hope is that the surgery doesnt correct what is needed and will require more work. Then possibly the rehab will take too long to start up by training camp. Not to wish harm to the man - but seriously- I know he could bring some good but I dont want him on my team. This news sucks.

I was browsing the vikings blogosphere and came across this story over at the viking age. Not sure if it is overly important but thought it was worth sharing.

Ol' Bretty was out tossing the ball around with some high school football players over the weekend. Apparently he does this often. Im surprised the media didnt jump all over this and report it as "Favre prepares for season with the vikings" Maybe he is? Or maybe hes getting ready for another wranglers commercial?

I as well am a first time poster but a long time reader of the dailynorseman. Without getting too personal or too negative here it goes:

I for one am somewhat embarassed by the lack of quality posts and up to the minute information provided by the editors of the norseman. This does not include the fanposts section. (You all do just fine) Upon hearing about the Cutler trade I came here to where we discuss "all things purple" and found nothing. Now 6 hours later there is still nothing updated? I then proceeded to travel to the other sbnation blogs of the NFC north and found great information. I even went as far as traveling to blogs from outside of the NFC and found better posts. Which leads me to question the validity of this site. How do you not even recognize the news of a trade like Cutler to the Bears? Next to the Kansas City Matt Cassel deal this is the biggest transaction of the off season in the NFL. If not bigger. Not to mention it directly effects us in Minnesota.

I challenge you all to travel around to other sbnation blogs, see what we are missing, come back and demand more from our editors or politely ask them to step down. I know that Gonzo is a busy man and serves our country proudly. I salute him. But if gonzo and his co-bloggers cant do it, hand over the reigns to someone who can. I simply cant sit back and continue to read posts about other blogs, how the norseman is more sociable, updates on other minnesota sports, floods, and their personal lives. Its embarassing and we as Vikings fans can do better. If this comes doesnt come off well I can only say one thing: Truth Hurts?
