Kimmie or Marcus to 1,000
So - I was looking at stats for our Mizzou men's basketball team after the Colorado game. If math is right - Kimmie English and Marcus Denmon have 949 points in their careers. Who will hit 1,000 first? It could be close...and both will.
Marcus certainly has the inside track if he is the one starting - but I think Kimmie has the ability (like he showed tonight) to get a couple 20 point games and end up in 1,000 point land first.
Thoughts?
Marcus Lucas a Tiger!
Pinkel and crew did it again! Marcus Lucas didn't wait until the Army All-American game. to tell the world he will be wearing the Black and Gold! He committed to Mizzou this weekend. I am sure everyone here knows - unless you are captivated by the UAPB game or watching another bad Saturday Night Live! Congrats to the coaching staff. Two back to back weekends where the top recruiting gems verballed - plus a few other surprise commits.
I am excited about Lucas - I see a Maclin type kid - well, maybe an Alexander type guy. Either way - man do we have some receivers coming to Columbia! Sasser, Hunt, Lucas...can I get a Carter puh-lease?
Look out new team rankings - we could see a shot up in the charts to say....13th or 14th?

Does anyone know if the Mizzou Kansas game will be replayed?
Has anyone heard if the Mizzou Kansas game from yesterday will be replayed tonight? I heard it may be on tv tonight and want to dvr it. Wasnt lucky enough to see all of the game. I have been checking local listings including ABC and ESPN. Saw the Boise State game will probably be on at 2 a.m. Maybe that will be us? I cant wait to relive it as soon as possible. Go Mizzou.
what is mizzou's oldest football record?
just curious if any one knows. I was watching the FSU game and they scored the most points on the road in a non - con game in quite some time. I know the recent tigers did a good job of breaking records...but what about the old school records...is it a scoring record...a passing record? Just curious if anyone knows. If you have any ideas let me know. I dont have my media guide with me.
I don't get it & don't agree...OU #7, MU #8
Call me a loyal MU fan...but objectively speaking...
MU beat OU. We were in the Elite 8...so was OU. We won the conference tourney...OU didnt.
So...how do coaches really believe OU should have finished ahead of Mizzou in the Coaches poll. Sure it might be nit-picking...but OU didnt impress me by not winning the conference tourney or the regular season.
Guess one player (i.e the good Griffin) gets you points and standings. I just feel like MU wasnt rewarded because they werent ranked high early. Hope the team has another chip on their shoulder to start next year.
Tigers.
Random Thought
I have been cheering for MU a long time. And, I have to say - this was one team I really wanted to see suceed. Not for me - but for them. Think of the burden they carried that other MU b-ball or other MU sports teams didnt have to carry. They had to win faans back. They started strong - lost to xavier. They played well....lost to Illinois. They won a few games - lost to nebraska to open big 12 play. They played with our hearts - we wanted them to win for us...because we wanted MU basketball to be back.
In the end though - after their Big 12 tourney win, the sweet 16 and elite 8...i didnt find myself saying they needed to win for me or missouri alums everywhere. I was rooting for them today. i was rooting for matt lawrence to have nine points...so he could have 1,000 career points. i was rooting for demarre and leo to win...so they could play one more game. They stayed afterall, when the times were rough.
I dont know that I could be more proud of an MU team. They lost - but they won. why, because i think they won with character and showed the world that the good guys could pervail...31 times. They beat ku...wont a tourney title.
They did it when we doubted them. Their loyal fans. They did it when the media didnt believe.
These were good guys. I had fun rooting for them....not for me. not for my alma mater..but because they were good guys having fun playing a sport they loved. Not making 20 million a year. They played because they wanted to win for the name on the front of their jerseys. Not the ones on their backs.
We lost today - but I really feel like these guys won. They brought Mizzou basketball back and i enjoyed seeing the good guys showing the world that it is a team - not an individual - that makes the game so great.
Thanks mizzou b-ball team. You have me believing again.
I wish you all well.
I bet against MU - It was wrong and stupid
So I was in Vegas this week and on Sunday - wasnt feeling great about MU's chances to beat KU. I figured I would bet against MU and if they lost I at least made some money....150 bones to be exact. A good friend of mine made some valid points as to why that wasnt the right play - regardless of whether or not I won. So, I have decided to donate the winnings to the Tiger Scholarship Fund. So, some good will have come from it. Beer may have played a role...but it's no excuse...especially not worth getting in to a tiff with my best friend. Lesson learned - this is my open admission. Sorry Tigers.
By the way - this site has really come along and I enjoy it immensely. Great work
Border Showdown - Not entirely accurate
Reading Mizzou's sweep of Kansas in Indoor Track & Field made me wonder....if this was a "Border Dual" as they claim....why isn't Mizzou getting credit for the victory with points in the Border Showdown? I mean don't we deserve a couple points?
From mutigers.com:
"The Mizzou men's and women's track and field squads went to enemy territory Friday evening and came away with a sweep of rival Kansas in what was tabbed as the "Border Dual" in Lawrence, Kan. The Tigers and Jayhawks held their first dual since 1976 (first-ever for the women), with the men claiming a 101-80 win, while the women took a 94-86 victory. The combined scores put the Tigers on top as well, 195-166, and with the win, Missouri increased its series lead over KU to 35-17."
