Patriots homer all the way. I've lived my entire life no more than 30 miles outside of Boston and I love it. I think this is one of the best sports towns around and love all our teams, but the Patriots most of all.

Tom Brady wins AP Comeback Player of the Year

47

NEW YORK (AP)—Tom Terrific is back. Tom Brady(notes) has gone from record-setting MVP to injured superstar to The Associated Press 2009 NFL Comeback Player of the Year. Brady’s strong return from a left knee injury that sidelined him for all but the first quarter of the 2008 opener earned the Patriots quarterback the award Wednesday. One of football’s biggest stars, Brady has gone from NFL Most Valuable Player in 2007, when he set several passing records, to sidelined to earning his second league award. Resting starters (and forfeiting games) may end up working out well for some team this year (time will tell). But generally speaking, I think the risk of losing the ability to perform at a very high level due to time off is greater than the risk of injury to otherwise healthy players. Food for thought: 3 of the last 4 Superbowl Champs did not have a bye week in the playoffs. Perhaps rest is overrated.

The New England Patriots suffered a significant blow to their Super Bowl hopes when wide receiver Wes Welker(notes) suffered what is feared by one source to be a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Sunday. The Patriots are awaiting the results of an MRI exam on the knee, but an on-field exam showed instability with the knee consistent with an ACL tear, according to a team source. New England coach Bill Belichick didn’t provide an update on the injury after the game.

Who do we play in the playoffs?  Miami's out.  The Texans have a remote chance as do the Steelers.  Bengals @ Jets will determine our seeding, most likely.  Let's see how everything plays out.

"I’ve never been a part of something like this," Bodden said. "I’m definitely excited. I’ve been in the league for seven years, and I’ve worked hard, and finally something’s come of it. But we’re not done. Hopefully, we can do a lot of good things after this."
