Are we forgetting... Chris Cook?
Chris Cook was the Vikings first selection in last year's 2010 NFL Draft. He was the 34th pick. Due to injury, we didn't get to see Cook's full production and I feel some of us have written him off to soon.
KFAN: Rick Spielman 85% sure on draft pick!
Listening to the one and only Paul Allen on KFAN this morning, and he had Rick Spielman on the show talking specifically about Quarterbacks...
The QB Breakdown 2011
Where oh where thou art thy Franchise Quarterback?? Time to put all QB talk to rest (because there's been a lot!) The lockout has given us little to talk about, but QB seems to be the topic of choice. Everyone feels different on whether we trade down, reach at #12, trade back, take a 2nd round guy, but besides when or where; "WHO?"... Bill Musgrave said we're going to be a power run west coast, similar to the 'steelers' & 'falcons.' Idealy, we're looking for a game manager type: Matt Ryan.
Defense wins Championships? wow...
Despite the obvious headline, this post is once again another fan expressing his thoughts on what could possibly happen this offseason. It seems nearly every fan is down on our (mostly injured) offensive line, andis putting it as a top need. I couldn't disagree more. The 1st round is a great, GREAT!!! DE draft. The Vikes are looking at loosing 3 DE's, Phat Pat is 38, and Kevin Williams isn't getting younger...
Bengals won't Trade Palmer
Thank god for this... here's the link:
Blaine Gabbert declares for NFL draft!
For the Vikings rube who hasn't heard of Blaine Gabbert (probably cuz EPSN shows you awful performances of Jake Locker...), he is Mizzou's Junior Quarterback who just had an amazing game against Iowa @ the Insight Bowl. He went 41 of 57 for 434 yards and Touchdown!
Just throwing this out there
but Tarvaris Jackson is our QB next year.
Pessimistic Vikes Fan
How we end up.
I am a full blooded Vikings fan through and through, but I'm also a Vikings fan that can analyze pre game and admit defeat. I had us losing monday night 16-10. Loss is a loss. I pray to higher power that our beloved Vikings will somehow end up 10-6 and make the playoffs, but it looks dark.
1-3 thus far...
Draft Talk!
The season has come to a close. How bout that ride in. I guess thats why they call it sin city. Ha ha ha. BUT, on a serious note; it's that time where we all start throwing in our 'Crazy Fan' ideas on the off-season, start complaining when we don't sign FAs, and think we know who we're taking the draft... So what'll it be boys?

Trent Dilfer!... enlighten me lol
He who knows all is the definition of 'Trent Dilfer.'
Isn't it better this way?
Being the underdogs that is???!!!
MNF decides who we are...
We're not finished!
Dear Santa, Why?!... Ugh. Last night was the Cardinals game in repeat. It hurt. I'm not gonna lie. Anger, disapointment, and a flash of (its over) hit me. But I stay strong because of one reason...
It's nut up, or shut up!
The stage is set, its the perfect mix, and it comes down to this.
Wanted it but didn't need it...
Today was a big game; it was our time to prove who we're made of. Sadly... we showed we can't chase down a turnover =P but looking forward, this wasn't our BIG game.
Best in the NFC?
I love the Vikings, don't get me wrong, but is 6-0 enough to say we are the best in the NFC?
Aaron Kampman Up for Trade?!
Fox just said that Kampman isn't fitting into the Packers 3-4 Defense.
Thank God 4 Brett Favre!
I'm sure todays game will be said to be over and over again as the most amazing ending we've ever had, but watching the game winning TD (again) while P.A. commentates made me post this.
Sullivan = Pass Protection Problems???
2:00 minutes left before half and I'm raising the Question?...
Picture Perfect!... lol
Simply True and Simply Hilarious.
As noted, T-Jack had an MCL sprain, and looks to be ok, but thevikingage.com had a little side bit to the story. I found this to be entertaining but at the same time... true. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing rosencopter starting for us September 13th in Cleveland.
He was 21 for 29, 224 passing yards and 2 touchdowns against us last year. Yea he forced an INT, but this a QB who was usually playing from behind and had to make something out of nothing. Granted, T-Jack showed signs of improvement, and all around better play, but the 15 for 35, and INT for a TD against the Eagles in the Playoffs got me, and I'm sure more than 85% of Minnesota, Saying/thinking we don't need a savior, but we need a QB that can play smart and make plays when needed... Get a new QB!!!
I still can't look at T-Jack as our Franchise QB...
Twittering Vikes?!
So Twitter is not really new but new, and I've been on it constantly trying to find instant updates or really anything cool/funny going on in the Vikings world...
Liking, Loving, or Hating Favre?!
Around this time next week, maybe before or after, Favre should be signing a contract with the Minnesota Vikings. I only say that because the vikes put an emphasis on the single game ticket sales and the signing of Favre. So being that its a 98% chance (put $30,000 down on a condo, was in Edina get checked up, other rumors of golf with chilly today) who likes it, who loves it, and who hates it?!?!
Negative outlook on Vick situation?
When watching NFL total access this morning I came across this bit about Michael Vick. Its been an issue lately, mostly because he's release from prison May 20th, but also because he is eventually going to play again in the NFL. Here's what I did not get...
Brian Baldinger had this to say... "I don't believe there's an offense right now in the league that will cater an offense to mike vick's strengths..."
Baldinger went on to show clips of Michael Vick dropping back in shotgun and making poor decisions.
I don't know if Brian Baldinger maybe missed the 08'/09' season but more than 12 teams ran a variation of the Wildcat offense. Miami is clearly sticking to their Wildcat roots by drafting Pat White nice and early, and I'm sure after the success they had we'll see so much more of it this season.
So why would something so 'idiotic' be said by baldinger "vick's strengths won't cater to an offense..." REALLY?! I strongly believe there is a defiant n egative outlook shadowing Vick, so much so that his unique football skills are being overlooked. I think he will make an impact somewhere, with some team, at some time in the future because he is just 'one-of-those-players.' He can change a game instantly; as us viking fans have seen before... dang it...
In conclusion, I personally hope Vick stick's it to the NFL and takes part in the first season of the UFL. A premiere league I am super excited for. Thoughts?
14 rooks signed, Ian Johnson one of them!
Whats up Gents and Ladies, Vikings had 14 undrafted rookies signed to the team one including Boise State RB Ian Johnson (Who had the famous proposal during the game!) Love that addition. Of course as promised we added a QB into the mix, Virginia Tech QB Sean Glennon (not a fan). Heres the list:
PLAYER - SCHOOL
S Colt Anderson - Montana
RB Kahlil Bell - UCLA
C Jon Cooper - Oklahoma
LB Robert Francois - Boston College
QB Sean Glennon - Virginia Tech
S Devon Hall - Utah State
DT Antoine Holmes - North Carolina State
RB Ian Johnson - Boise State
DT Tremaine Johnson - LSU
G Andy Kemp - Wisconsin
T Bobby Lepori - Fresno State
WR Nick Moore - Toledo
WR Vinny Perretta - Boise State
TE Nick Walker - Alabama
By the way I gave our draft a B. I love Percy Harvin, I'm sold on him. Pure talent. and my steal of the draft was our 5th round pick Jasper Brinkley. He was the 3rd rated ILB on draft charts. He'll be great for Spec. Teams and a one day Linebacker. Can't wait for the season.
If WR is 22nd overall pick, Nicks would be a bust...
Its somewhat embarrasing that me and other vikings fans were rather intrigued by Hakeem Nicks. On paper and film he seems like a fit for us, and would fill a deir need at Wideout. But an 11 on the wonderlic and a surge in body fat has left me wondering if this could be the worst 1st round pick (WR) for us.
It's been reported that Nicks has gained up to 14 lbs since tweaking his hammy at the combine. This was on the vikingage.com...
~~~"He looked like a fat tight end not a lean receiver. . . . He’s got to have a weight problem. This is the most important few months of his life and he gains a ton of weight. I don’t get it. Many scouts and coaches went away very disappointed."~~~
I don't know who I'm pulling for yet, but I want our 22nd overall pick in the draft to make a difference for our team... and by difference I mean positive. I havn't decided if getting a 1st round WR is the best option anyways. One pick I am pulling for is Rhett Bomar. I'd like to see him make it as a great QB.
Ken Lucas is a F.A
After the Panthers failed to trade CB Ken Lucas he has now been cut. The panthers tried to deal him to detroit when Lucas said he wouldn't play. He's an 8 year Vet who had an off year getting burnt alot towards the end. Could we possibly show interest in him or is he no good?
He maybe at least a good 3rd CB, possibly better than griffin? I sure would like him better than Benny Sapp....
Not to bring him up, but T.O to the vikes?
Source: NFL.com
~So I got to NFL.com to see whats new and there is a blog. Where will T.O end up? I click it and the opening title is "Vikings could be one of just a few teams willing to pick up Owens" instantly I become nervous, fearious, and kind of excited. Heres what they had to say...
The Vikings recently made a huge push for T.J. Houshmandzadeh and missed out. A bigger receiver that is not afraid to block could be on the menu. Childress is also in a situation where he doesn't have much to lose. If the Vikings don't get to the playoffs or do something should they advance to postseason play, his job security could be on thin ice. Desperate men have been known to make desperate moves.
If T.O. were to help open up an offense that already features tailback Adrian Peterson and gets Minnesota deep into the playoffs, the reward could be greater than any risk -- especially if Owens is playing on an incentive-laden, one-year contract, which might be the scenario if he gets squeezed by a nervous market and he's left with few other options.
Owens has shown to be productive player on a short-term basis and he would create enough attention to keep all eyes locked on the Vikings as they not only try to win games, but generate enough momentum to get a new stadium built. T.O. taking over the same position Randy Moss used to play for the Vikings? What about that for irony?
Not to be overlooked, Owens has a very good relationship with Vikings receivers coach George Stewart. In fact, Stewart is one of the few people Owens' sincerely trusts. Stewart was Owens' receivers coach in San Francisco, where Owens went to the Pro Bowl three times. More importantly to Stewart, they developed a bond that is still intact.
~ I don't know what to think lol
Torry Holt Asks for His Release from Rams!
Could Torry Holt be the guy to make us forget our discontent over the lack of movement by the Vikings in the free agent market this off-season? He’s certainly available. The Rams have been trying to trade him for days, but there’s absolutely no market for him at all. The frustration has only mounted for Holt who has now asked the team to outright cut him so he can make his own deal some place. The Rams have until March 17th, the day he’s due a $1.25 million roster bonus, to figure out what they want to do.
Holt, at one point one of the best 5 receivers in the league without question, saw a precipitous drop-off in his production in 2008: His 64 receptions and 796 yards were his lowest totals since his rookie season of 1999, and his 3 touchdowns were the fewest he has ever scored in a season. Part of the issue was that the Rams simply stunk last year, but there’s also no doubt that Holt’s speed isn’t what it was before the knee injury that hampered him throughout 2007.
~For awhile I've felt that Holt is the best option for us. Henderson sounded good, Housh sounded great, Holt sounds like a great possession, leader we need. I would love it if we got him.
