Trouble in Donkey world
Bill Williamson at ESPN is reporting that Cutler demanded a trade from Denver after he learned of being betrayed by Josh McDaniels.
http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcwest/0-3-1666/Source--Spurned-Cutler-wants-to-be-traded.html
"In the aftermath of the trade Saturday, Cutler asked permission to find his own trade partner but was denied by the Broncos, according to the source. Cutler is still hopeful he will be traded because he feels betrayed by McDaniel, the source said."
"It's like a knife to Jay's heart," the source said. "It will be hard for him to get past this."
I love it!! I hope Cutler keeps whining and gets traded. Good job Denver way to let your ProBowl QB find out about almost being traded to Detroit from everyone but the organization.
Thank you letter to the Patriots
Dear Patriots, as a Chiefs fan for my entire life suffering, especially this decade, has been an annual event between Sep-Dec. Thank you for giving us Pioli. Our previous GM was just an ass. Thanks for Matt Cassel, even though Tyler Thigpen is a stud, many of us like a guy that can play under center, and thanks for Mike Vrabel. We were in dire need of veteran leadership and especially the move to a 3-4 defense, Vrabel's leadership and experience will be invaluable. If you want to give us anything else, it would be appreciated. Thanks again. We tried to send Bernard Pollard in the trade but Tom Brady said "no"....so enjoy the second round pick, by the way don't draft a Junior Siavi with it like we did a few years ago
very respectfully,

Cassel traded to Chiefs, Schefter reports
Schefter reporting on NFL Network that Cassel will sign long term deal with Chiefs and has been traded to KC by the Patriots. Story just broke. Schefter thinks it involves the 2d round pick this year and maybe a pick next year. If we get to keep our 3d pick overall this will be huge and we will be able to go after LB Curry and rebuild very quickly. I guess the patiot way is now the KC way.
LB Bart Scott signs with the Jets
Bart Scott signs a deal with the Jets. What are we saving all this salary cap money for? Maybe "Slo Po" is saving it for Matt Cassel, who knows. It's great we trimmed alot of fat to get this far below the salary cap. I want to see some good players signed with the money and one that I was hoping for was Bart Scott. Hopefully I will see the Chiefs play in a superbowl one day. I've been alive since 1974 and haven't witness, but one playoff win since 1993. This stinks.
Lions may be eyeballing a OT with first pick
Don Banks from CNNSI says the Lions will draft an OT with the first pick and not Stafford. Lions realize they may need another OT to go with Gosder Cherilus, their 1st Round pick last year. Do the Kansas Chiefs draft Matthew Stafford if he is available with the 3d overall pick?

I think the Chiefs need to stick with Thigpen. Don't draft a guy that is scared to through at the combine. Sanchez's stock improves by his decision to throw at the combine. I still wouldn't draft him at 3.
Pioli on Crabtree from ESPN's Clayton
"It's just part of the process. You can't worry about it, that is just the way it is," Kansas City Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli said. "This is unfortunate for him. The combine is great, but you watch tape and watch players perform on tape. That's really the top evaluation."
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/news/story?id=39
Does Crabtree's injury hurt his draft status? I don't think so.
Take the Wonderlic
I got this from Mile High Report. See how smart or stupid you really are. You can compare your scores to QBs of the past. It is a scaled down version but gives you an idea of the test that all the draft analysts are talking about. I won't tell anyone my score.

Good luck! Primetime and Chris I hope I didn't violate any kind of copyright laws or anything bringing this over from the Donkeys
Haynesworth going to test free agency
Give big Albert a chance. We need a mean nasty player with attitude on defense
http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/02/18/haynesworth-to-test-free-agent-market/
Schefter is reporting Haynesworth wants to test the market before considering signing with the Titans again. Should the Chiefs make an offer for one of the best Defensive Tackles in the league or is Haynesworth just trying to get the Titans to drive the dollar amount for a resigning with them
Cost-cutting Broncos make another move, release CB Bly
New GM cleaning house in Donkeyville. Denver is gutting their team like we did last year. Could be a window of opportunity next year with the division
Cassel or Thigpen
Cassel vs. Thigpen. There are alot of folks out there that want us to go out and trade for Matt Cassel. I am against that. Here are the stats for each last season. Thigpen started 4 less games and had comparable stats. Thigpen had a worst supporting cast as well:
Cassel Thigpen
6-4/230 6-1/224
Games started 15 11
Comp. % 63.4 54.8
Passing Yards 3693 2608
TD 21 18
Int 11 12
Sacked 47 26
Rating 89.4 76,0
Rushing Yds 270 386
Cassell was handed over the keys to a Corvette when Brady got hurt and Thigpen was handed over the keys to a Ford Focus when Brokie finally when down and stayed down for the rest of the year. Cassell is good but folks need to stop sniffing his jock.
Not looking good on the Peppers front.
Per Adam Schefter:
"Carolina is making a strong push to sign prospective free-agent OT Jordan Gross by Thursday, which would enable the team to then slap its franchise tag on DE Julius Peppers."
http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/02/16/panthers-trying-to-hash-out-new-deal-for-ot-gross/
Hopefully this doesn't happen and Peppers does not get franchised. We need a rush end that put pressure on the QB. Can we renig on the Jarred Allen trade.
1999-2008 #3 Overall Draft Pick
In the last ten years the #3 overall pick has produced some superstars, but it is not a sure thing. Here is the list:
2008 Atlanta- Matt Ryan QB - Leaning towards Stud, to early to tell
2007 Cleveland -Joe Thomas OT- Stud
2006 Tennessee-Vince Young QB - Dud
2005 Cleveland-Braylon Edwards WR - Stud when healthy
2004 Arizona-Larry Fitzgerald WR - Stud
2003 Houston-Andre Johnson WR-Stud
2002 Detroit- Joey Harrington QB -Dud
2001 Cleveland-Gerard Warren DT - Dud
2000 Washington-Chris Samuels OT- Stud
1999 Cincinnatti-Akili Smith QB - Dud
QBs selected with this pick in the last ten years have been risky with a 25% success rate and its still too early to label Matt Ryan one way or the other.
OTs are solid winners with the #3 pick, but only two have been selected.
WRs are solid with all three making the ProBowl
DT was a miss with Gerard Warren.
If we draft here take the almost sure thing Michael Crabtree or an Offensive Tackle.
or cut sling and trade the pick if we are not filling a need.
Strength and Conditioning
I think the Chiefs need to fire both of these coaches. The amount of injuries last year were ridiculous. Unfortunately I have gone to the last 16 home regular season games and usually watch the Chiefs and whoever they are playing warm up before kickoff. Usually the visiting team looked very disciplined(especially the Titans) while stretching. Everybody was organized (except Albert Haynesworth who just stood to the side and stared down the Chiefs the whole time) and lined up. The Chiefs on the other hand looked like the Bad News Bears, during stretching players have their shirts untucked (LJ) and half of them are still strolling out on the field.
I hope Todd Haley brings some much needed discipline to the practice and playing field.
