Stampede Blue How do you really feel about Kerry Collins?

After reading through some of the replies to my comments about Kerry Collins (most seem to support the idea that he has been a decent starter for most of the teams he's played for), I want to know who here truly thinks Kerry Collins has been a good QB over the length of his career?

I find him to be the worst QB of the last 20 years who has consistently been given starting jobs.

Since the start of his career in 1995:

- He's had 11 seasons where he started at least 11 games.

- He’s only thrown for more than 20 TDs 3 times, with a career high of 22.

- He has 7 seasons where he threw for more INTs than TDs.

- He has started for 4 playoff teams.

- Out of 7 playoff games he has started, he only has 2 games with a QB rating over 83.

- In his one Superbowl appearance, he was 15-39, 112 yds, 0 TDs, 4 INTs, 7.9 rating (yes I realize it was against the dominant Ravens defense)

- In 1998 he quit on his team after 4 games because they started 0-4

This guy is pretty much the complete opposite of everything we have become accustomed to over the last 10-12 years. Show me one other QB in the last 20 years with numbers this overwhelmingly mediocre who has been given this many starting gigs.

And yes, I'd rather keep the locker room content and throw Curtis Painter or Dan Orlovsky out there in an emergency than sign this bum for $4 million this season (which should have gone towards more depth on the o-line/safety) and have players speaking out against the move, creating dissent in the locker room.

True Blue LA One of the worst things I've ever read

OF/DH Andruw Jones broke up the hitless night for the Sox on Friday, doubling in the fourth inning for the first Sox hit of the night. More importantly, Ozzie Guillen is seeing a guy step up as a leader this season. Guillen wasn't the only one seeing it, either. "I will say this, I mean Andruw has been a really great vocal leader so far into this,'' Konerko said. "It didn't just start in the season, I mean it was there back in spring. "He's that guy on this team now.''

This has got to be the worst thing I've read in a loooong time.  Especially with the double-whammy of the embarassing shutout last night.

Great article by Adam Schein of Fox Sports. Finally the Colts get some recognition they have worked so hard this year to obtain.

Stampede Blue Sad news for one of the All-Time Great Colts

http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2009/apr/19/nfl-edgerrin-james-spouse-dies-leukemia/

"The girlfriend of former Immokalee star football player Edgerrin James and mother of his four children died of leukemia on Tuesday.

Andia Denise Wilson, 30, of Naples died at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa after battling acute myeloid leukemia. James, who plays for the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, is listed as Wilson's "loving spouse and significant other'' in an obituary notice. James and Wilson had four children: Edquisha, 11, Ehyanna, 7, Edgerrin Jr., 4, and Euro, 2. Wilson also is survived by her parents, Jodi Wilson and Larry Green, and grandmother, Viola Fuller."

Tragic news.  I'm sure everyone here sends out their best wishes to the James family.

Stampede Blue Colts to work out Mark Sanchez

An odd bit of news considering the QB of the Colts is the 2008 NFL MVP. FanPost partially edited--bbs

Quarterback Mark Sanchez is expected to perform private workouts for the New York Jets and Indianapolis Colts before participating in USC's Pro Day on April 1.

I wonder why the Colts would be working out a QB expected to go in the top 10?  The Colts rarely make trades within the first round so this definitely comes as a surprise.  I'm from SoCal though and I'll tell you, Mark Sanchez is going to be a good pro in this league (and possibly a great one if he gets to learn from Manning).
