Land of 10,000 Snaps
What if I told you that the one thing that makes Tom Brady be "Tom Brady" is that he sat out for a year? Would you believe it? All of those statistics and all of that work, that his success could be boiled down to just him sitting out for a year seems a bit preposterous, which honestly, it is. There is no one thing that anyone could point to that makes him great. However, I can (and I will) prove that him sitting out and not starting for a season made him better. Think of it this way. For all of you Stanzi the Manzi fans out there, I am about to load you up with enough ammunition to make even the toughest sailor (whoops, too easy) soldier turn tail (but only the reservists, I will be nice to the regular Hoooeys).

The Picks!
Well folks, the time has come for me to finish this series (on time I might add), and put my mid to the test just like everyone else. For those of you who didn’t see them, you can catch up on the previous versions: Parts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Thank you to all of commented on those, as I really did take some of the criticisms and factor it into the order of the Five. A quick recap for those who don’t want to read: I suggested that the Chiefs will attempt to grab one of the following four positions (QB, ILB, NT, or OL) with the number 11 pick, or trade down. I then chose specific people from each position who I thought would best fit into the Chiefs scenario (that would be drafted at or around #11). Those players are: Andrew Luck, Dont’a Hightower, Michael Brokers, and David DeCastro.

Defensive Tackle (the one with the nose in it)
Ahhhhhh, the final bit of research. And for some of you, the final piece you have to listen to me blab on before I actually tell you my decision. Ready? Good, because I am too. A solid nose tackle is an important part of a 3-4 defense. They are usually responsible for an extra guy on the offensive line, and a great nose tackle can cause distraction and mismatch problems for even a veteran guard or center. The best of nose guards have two things in common, they are big (simple physics) and they have a lot of upper body strength. Unfortunately, a great nose tackles these things to not make. Otherwise there would be a significant sumo wrestler influx into the NFL, and that would be that.

Inside Linebacker
So what in the hell is a Ted Linebacker? I threw that into Google and came out with a reference page that didn’t even mention the position, and link to another page that took me back to the page that didn’t mention the position, and then the "Niners Nation" piece that was linked here on AP not too long ago (although all the searching in the world, or at least 5 minutes of it, couldn’t find that damn link) that I derived the name Ted from. In fact, neither profootballfocus.com nor footballoutsiders.com mentioned it either. I was stumped, so I just decided to reread the NN piece to see what I could find out. After noticing the mention of the "Fairbank-Bulloughs" system, I did a quick wiki search and, AHA! I discovered that "Ted" is also, and maybe more commonly, known as a "Jack" linebacker, which I could find several descriptions of.

The Trade Back
When I first looked at my options for this project, I anticipated working writing the two offensive picks first, the two defensive picks second, and then finishing up with the option of trading down. After a bit more studying, I realized just how much background I needed to complete in relation to the roles as a defensive tackle or a linebacker within our defense before I could even look at draft picks. To complicate things, I was unable to get ahold of a copy of "The War Room", so the more personal information I was hoping to glean about Mr. Pioli just won’t be included in this. So, to wrap this meandering opening of an introduction, what you will get from me here is a best guess scenario based on as much internet information I can gather in a short time.

The Quarterback
As we move into the third part of the series, I find myself deep into the most controversial position, the quarterback. When it comes to the other groups on the field everyone has their favorite, sure, but just a pick at the right position is seen as the right thing. If Scott Pioli dares to choose the wrong quarterback, however, the heavens open up and four letter words (usually incorrectly spelled and/or improperly used) pour into the blogosphere. So it is with some trepidation that I cannonball into the deep end, where the water isn’t quite so warm. As always, please keep in mind that the selection I choose is only what I see Mr. Pioli choosing at #11 or trades up to get. It does not include any choices made later than #11, first round or later.

Offensive Lineman
Well hello again already. I bring you back in for the continuation of my writing siege. For my own ego, please note that I did not start research until after finishing the introduction, and here I am right around four hours later posting part 2. I’m right on the pace I need, but I hope I didn’t miss anything critical!

An Introduction
Good day all, in the last 3 years (God has it been 3 years already?) that I have been on this web site; I have been mostly just a lurker. A few comments here and there, with a full 3 posts to my name, with 23, 3, and 4 recs on my wall of fame (shame?). Anyways, I find myself in the position that requires me to go back and further my education. As it has been far too long since I have written a research paper, and given the non-graded atmosphere of Arrowhead Pride and the knowledge of "practice makes perfect", I have decided to waste time practice the art of turning 100 words into 10,000 here with all of you as my audience. With some helpful nudging from an onsite educator who famously tried to pretend he was his brother last year, I have centered on a seven part project that should take up my time, and hopefully yours.
TMQ: Punting the punt
Its a touch old, but for those of you who want to see the numbers on why Todd Haley liked to go for it on 4th down. (And why I approved of him doing so)
What if?
I have a highly unlikely, but very advantageous idea. Franchise Bowe + Trade to Rams for #2 pick = RGIII or Luck, guaranteed
Ricky Stanzi is the man!
15 completions on 27 attempts, with 15 interceptions and a TD worth 3 points. Ricky Stanzi: So good Madden can't simulate him
Why Matt Cassel can lead us to multiple Super Bowls
Ok, a few things to keep in mind while you read this. 1) This is a long term view when I say multiple, like 5-10 years. 2) I said can. Not will. Meaning barring injuries or this team not getting the chances I mention below. 3) I usually write up an outline for these and then follow that. I am writing straight from the hip, so be ready for a long one, with a random tangent or two. 4) I don't really deal much in numbers, because regardless of popular opinion, numbers do lie. Don't believe me? Go ask your local science professor what the mathematical pH is of concentrated HCl. While you are at it, ask him/her what would be an accurate definition of an acid. Speaking of too long, my opening is too long to make sense before the jump, so follow me.

Grantland article on the psyche of ownership
directly applied to the NBA, but is an interesting read, especially after the NFL lockout. Notice the fact that the NFL is classified as non-profit

I Told You So... and the truth behind the Kool Aid
Back at the beginning of the season I wrote this. I was getting a bit tired of all the talk surrounding how Haley was treating his players, and why he should be gone. Now that we are almost done with the season, having already fulfilled our owner's main goal, and fans still going crazy with fear and doubt, I thought I would look back on what I said was going on and what would happen and see how I did. Stay with me kids, its going to be a long ride. Follow me through the jump if you dare...

Leaving Bill Belichick
Interesting logic on this write up. Bad news chiefs fans, apparently cassel, vrabel, weis, and crennel have been sucking since leaving belichick
Todd Haley, The Mean Coach, and the "Right 70 (53)"
I decided to do this write up for a few reasons. One was a conversation I had via the comment section with HIV2Elway, and the other was the recent little dustup in the Redskins camp. I do want to make the point that I am not calling HIV out. I just wanted to give him a little bit of credit for this post, and hopefully a second one that involves those that have used the "Mean Coach" way. I understand that a lot of you dont get why Haley is so loud and in people's faces, and see that as an immature way to treat the men the make up our football team. As a Marine I have seen this style of leadership work up close, and I understand why it does. Also, I'm sure many of you are confused about the 70 in the title. The extra 17 represent the entire coaching staff (I hope I got the right number of coaches). None of this works unless everyone is onboard. Additionally, there is more to just character and self control in the "Right 53". The players have to have a little something extra that I will get to in a bit. Hopefully, by the end of this post, those of you who want the players to be treated better will at least understand more about what Todd Haley is doing, even if you still don't agree with his methods. And on to the jump, beware it is a bit of a read:
