Minor League Ball July 8th MILB

Cody Buckel 5.1 Innings 1H, 1ER, 2BB, 7K

Adrian Salcedo (He's cool I guess)

Nick Barnese (Tampa Bay prospect whos ok)

Mauricio Robles (Brought back to life)

Simon Castro (Dead)

Delino DeShields 0-3 2Ks in game 1 (SUCKS)

Profar 1-4 2B in same game (REALLY GOOD)

Jake Skole 1-2 BB (I like this guy)

I am too lazy to look for anyone else. It's Mike Trout day for the Angels but screw them cause they suck. Cody Buckel is a stud and I am really excited for him. It's too bad that the Rangers and Angels have all the real cool prospects because they are the Mariners rivals and all.

Should also throw my Goldschmidt prediction for the evening out there

3-5 2B, 3B, 3 RBIs, K

Minor League Ball Mariners top 20

1. 2B/OF Dustin Ackley - An Obvious top prospect. Not having a year quite expected out of him but has adjusted nicely and is now in Triple-A Tacoma. He is expected to have a september call-up

2. RHP Michael Pineda - He has blown minds this season by dominating the Southern League after a Injury plagued 2009. His Fastball that sits 93-97, a plus slider/changeup combo, and good control. He was promoted to Tacoma in June and has dominated there too. Also expected to have a september Call-up

3. SS Nick Franklin - 27th overall pick in 2009 draft having big year in Midwest League. 18 Homeruns is 3 times as many as alot of people expected. Also has 16 Doubles, 6 Triples and 18 Stolen bases, though he was caught 6 times. Only problems with him are Hitting vs Righties being a Switch-hitter, And the 31-77 BB/K rate he has

4. OF Greg Halman - Almost had 200 strikeouts with only 29 walks in 2009. He has greatly improved this season with a 30-102 BB/K rate that is still not ideal but progress nontheless. Huge Power/Speed with excellent defense could be special, but the PD is the only thing holding him back.

5. 3B Alex Liddi - 2009 Breakout story, is having a respectable 2010 hitting .277/.347/.488 trying to prove he isn't a fluke. Has 12 dingers with 26 Doubles and 6 triples and a not-so-hot 34-97 BB/K rate. Mixed reviews on Defence at 3rd and has played a lot of first base. Could end up in outfield.

6. C Adam Moore - Made the opening day roster but struggled with bat, but finally started getting it going when he hurt his leg. Has been in Tacoma since he came off the DL and has hit well and could rejoin the team in September.

7. OF Johermyn Chavez - Another one of those High Risk/High Reward players, he broke out in 2009 with the Blue Jays Class-A team. He started 2010 in High desert hitting 24 Homers with 19 Doubles but with a 40-100 BB/K rate. He has only 8 Homeruns away from High Desert so we would have to see how he can do in West Tenn.

8. INF Carlos Triunfel - Don't know where he's going with his career. Holds his own everywhere he goes and was injured all of 2009. If he taps into his power he could have 40 Doubles a 15-20 homeruns a season. Most likely not to stick at SS.

9. 1B Rich Poythress - Power hitter at High-Desert, could be a .260-.280 25 homerun type. Another player having a good season for the Mavericks, is hitting .292/.356/.522 with 21 Homeruns and a 37-68 BB/K. I really like this guy but i don't know where he could end up with Smoak now the M's future first basemen. Could become the teams future DH or could be traded

10. RHP Blake Beaven - Acquired in the Cliff Lee trade, Beaven was a 2007 first rounder wih a mid-nineties fastball. Though he has lost some of that velocity he is still in the low 90's and could be a future #3/4 innings eater

11. LHP Mauricio Robles - Tiny lefty traded to Seattle in the Washburn deal, has a fastball that sits in the 92-97 range with a good sliderand ok changeup. Pitching good in Double-A but is likely going to be a future reliever, though the Mariners will give him every chance to start.

12. LHP James Paxton - Has not been signed yet but is a pitcher with good pure stuff. Power slider to go along with a great fastball which sits 93-96 and can touch 98. He looks like a #2 type but could end up a #3 but has even been said to be a reliever.

13. INF Kyle Seager - Another guy mashing the ball for the Mavericks. Was drafted in the 3rd round out of UNC during the 2009 draft who could have a couple season where he could start and the rest as a utility player. High Average/Walk type with gap power and low power and Average speed. If he can be a full time starter in atleast one season then my wishes for him have been fulfilled.

14. OF Guillermo Pimentel - REALLY high power potential, though still very young and raw playing in the AZL. Has a strong arm that can fit in right field but is probably too slow and will end up as a Left Fielder/First base/DH type

15. OF James Jones - A sleeper by many coming into the season, he has struggled for most of the season. Has good power potential to hit around 15-25 a season, as well as good speed and instincts to steal 15-30 Bases. Very strong arm and is expected to play in Right where he should be an Above-Average defender.

16. 3B Mario Martinez - Another toolsy guy with bad Plate Discipline, Martinez is repeating the MWL and is still young (20). He has a noticeable Home/Away and Lefty/Righty splits, Hitting .203/.248/.308 at home and .291/.321/.481 away and .297/.338/.500 against leftys in 64 at-bats and .238/.273/.378 in 227 righty at-bats. Could still be very good but, as with Triunfel, time is slipping.

17. RHP Ryne Stanek - Tall Projectable type, having him in my top 20 is probably a little much for most but I absolutely love the guy. 6'4 185Lbs and 18 years old he can add another couple ticks on his already good fastball. Throws in the 90-94 range and has even been said as topping out at 96, and with a good curveball for someone of his age. Changeup is lacking but if it can be developed than he would be a good #2 starter or if he can't get the changeup then a Setup guy or possible Closer is also a good outcome.

18 SS-2B - Gabriel Noriega - Was a top 5 M's prospect coming into the season by most, Noriega has crashed hitting only .213 with 9 Extra base hits. Turns 20 in September so he still has lots of time, but he really needs to work on the plate discipline. Best tool is his glove at shortstop with Plus Defense.

19 3B-1B Vincent Catricala - 21 Year old in Midwest League, has a knack for hitting doubles. He has 27 this season in 343 at-bats and 14 last season in 214 in Rookie-Ball to go along with a total of 17 Homeruns and a career 52-116 BB/K ratio. Catricala is a 10th rounder from the University of Hawaii and another favorite player of mine. Good chance to start 2011 in High-A.

20 RHP Stephen Pryor - A big power reliever from Tennessee, Has a 60 grade fastball that has the potential to be 70-80. It sits at 94-97 and touches 99 and a slider that is 84-86. Has been compared to Broxton and Gagne for size and stuff so future as a closer is expected. Currently in Everett having pitched 15.2 Innings, allowing 7 hits, 1 earned run (1 total), 7 Walks and 22 Strikeouts.

Honorable Mentions: RHP Taijuan Walker, 1B Mike Carp, 3B Matt Mangini, 1B Dennis Raben

This is my first published top 20 and i didn't really take the time to look at the Sabremetrics of each player. Enjoy!

Minor League Ball Cliff Lee Trade Rumors

Being this close to the trading deadline and Cliff Lee's stock as high as it can get rumors have been bouncing all over the place. The biggest question is what team can offer the best package for the ace lefty and when will it happen. The most notable rumor so far is Wilson Ramos and Aaron Hicks going to Seattle for Lee but that was quickly disclosed as not true.

Now look i don't really care who you think will be traded just as long as you post something reasonable.

Plus it's almost 11pm on a tuesday night and i've got nothing better to do.

Some notable trade partners

Twins

Yankees

Mets

Rangers

Rays

Tigers

White Sox

Reds

Cardinals
