Dan Uggla next trade
Next week is the GM meetings in Orlando I believe, and as you can imagine Dan is on the block. I've been hearing some very interesting potential trades for the Marlins. With the departure of Maybin the Marlins have a hole in CF. Some potential trades I have heard could be,
Uggla to Cardinals, Rasmus to Marlins
and
Uggla to Red Sox, Ellsbury to Marlins
I think that if the Marlins could pull of either of those trades we would be in good shape for 2011 season. I would prefer Rasmus because he is still under 25 yr. old and he puts up relative numbers to Uggla for being young.
Dan Uggla: .287, 33 HRs, 105 RBIs, 4 stolen bases (159 games)
Colby Rasmus: .276, 23 HRs, 66 RBIs, 12 stolen bases (144 games)
Plus Rasmus doesn't get paid like Uggla so it would leave us with room to spend on relievers. I'm all in favor for this what do you think?
Trade Dan Uggla For....
I agree with other people on here that it might not be such a bad idea to let Uggs go soon, but only if we get what we want in return. In the near future Dominguez will be called up and that would leave Cogs without a place to play. What trade do you think would be reasonable? Uggla is at the peak of his career so now would be the time to get the best return for him.
2011 Marlins Top Prospects
Never to early to look towards next years hopefuls right? This is a list of my top prospects within the organization. Tell me what you think or who you think should be on it.
1. Matt Dominguez 3B- BA .252 14HR 81RBI
2. Christian Yelich LF- BA .348 ( Not enough playing time - 6 games )
3. Chad James SP- ERA 5.12 W/L 5-10 ( Rough first year still promising )
4. Kyle Skipworth C- BA .249 17HR 59RBI ( Strikeouts still a huge problem 132 in 397 AB )
5. Marcell Ozuna RF- BA .267 21HR 60RBI ( Looked Good 21HR in 68 games )
6. Rob Rasmussen SP/RP- ERA 1.35 ( Same with Yelich not enough playing time )
7. Elih Villanueva SP- ERA 2.26 W/L 14-4 ( Only problem is that he is 24 years old in AA, his best year so far )
8. Brad Hand SP- ERA 3.31 W/L 9-8 ( Always has had decent numbers in the minors )
9. Tom Koehler SP- ERA 2.61 W/L 16-2 ( Good numbers, only figures to be middle rotation guy, best year in minors )
10. Isaac Galloway CF- BA .200 0HR 6RBI ( Still waiting for this kid to put all of his talents together, probably has one more year of trying before he is off the list )

2011 Catcher
Obviously the Marlins need a good catcher for the next season, so who do you think would be the best fit for us? I personally think we should try to sign V-Mart. I read recently that the fish have been tied to Mike Napoli of the Angels. I would not want to trade for a aging Napoli who hits in the .240-.250 range. Hopefully Loria doesn't mess up yet another trade for us.
Ricky Nolasco
Hey everyone, I went to the Marlins v Dbacks games on Thursday, and Friday and I could not help but notice that there was plenty of scouts watching Dan Haren v Ricky Nolasco. I have also read articles in recent days talking about Nolasco to the Yankees, Mets, or White Sox. I personally don't think or want Ricky to leave, but with our front office you never know what will happen. So, where do you think he will end up? And the key is what would we get in return for Ricky who is probably the best pitcher available now that Lee is with the Rangers.
End of the road Fish
Well everyone, we know what time of the year is approaching and with the way we are playing we need to expect some changes. We are falling back to much to expect a comeback and this only leaves us to do what we do best...trade our players. I would expect Cody Ross, Jorge Cantu, and Dan Uggla to attract the most interest as we head to the trade deadline but I wouldn't be surprised if Ricky Nolasco was available also. So fellow fishstripes, any predictions on who gets traded where, and for who?
