After interviewing for the Kent State head coaching job, Syracuse assistant coach Rob Murphy has withdrawn his name from consideration.

"I work for one of the greatest coaches in the game,’’ Murphy said, referring to SU head coach Jim Boeheim. "A Hall of Fame coach.’’

Hard to argue staying with Boeheim and getting quality experience in a big time program and hopefully getting the chance at a big time job later on.

Murphy noted that the NCAA’s open recruiting period begins on Thursday. He wanted potential recruits to know that he was at Syracuse and not on the way to Kent State.

"I’m anxious to get out on the road,’’ Murphy said. "I want the focus to be on Syracuse and the future here.’’

I hope he's heading to the Zebra Classic with Hop and Boeheim to keep close tabs on DaJuan Coleman.

Coach P to Pitt?

So with the 'stache out at Pitt is it possible that Pasqualoni gets this job?  I never would have figured him to come back to college but Bruce Feldman at ESPN is reporting that he may be getting an interview to coach the panthers.  He is from PA and did coach at PSU so who knows.  I for one would would just find it awkward to see him back in the Dome wearing gold and blue instead of orange.  What do you guys think?

Rivals has an interesting story about Mitch Browning and a few other former coordinators and coaches who are joining team as Grad assistants.  It mentions how Since Syracuse is still paying him for this year, Taking a grad assistant salary to be basically be an extra coach works out great for Tennessee and the sly Lane Kiffin who doesnt suprise me one bit making moves like this and working all the loopholes.

But honestly, it does kinda stink that we are still paying this guy to coach elsewhere and have sunk down to the point where the WWE ( I still can't believe this) is coming to the dome to help bring in cash.

Yahoo Sports has Jonny Flynn rated as the number 2 overall rookie in the summer league right behind Blake Griffin

Flynn was in control and may just end up being the better of the Wolves' two rookie point guards."

Was there ever any doubt that no matter where Jonny ended up we would turn into star?  The wolves traded Telfair and are basically handing the PG spot to him and hopefully he can suprise some people and help turn around a franchise that has been in trouble for quite awhile now
