Clips Nation We're the Clippers

We've always been the laughingstock of the league. Before, it was because of our bad play, it was the injuries and an owner not really caring about the sport of basketball.

We couldn't do anything right, and when we actually tried it really didn't go that well. But we did try! The perspective of the Clippers didn't change though; it was almost like people seemed to enjoy our misfortune. A couple of laughs and a pat on our heads.

We were cute, not a real danger to anyone, a fun team to make up jokes about. It seems that people liked having someone to look down at, we were that team.

I don't know how many of you that has looked through the videos at http://www.nba.com/clippers/video/originals/ about the workouts going on at the training center this summer.

In the videos all coaches including VDN are wokring with the players and it's been going on for quite a while. Even EJ returned early from Indiana to "hang with the guys".

I allways thought this was quite unique in Clippers history, having a lot of players in so early working with the training staff.

Apperantly according to this article by DJ Foster, Iavroni thinks it's quite unique as well, he has never seen anything like it.

Man, I can't wait for the season to start!

Heartbreaking. Keep your head up DJ, we're proud of you!

Couldn't get the direct link to the video but it's up on the clippers video web page and has the name "DeAndre Jordan Postgame - 12/8/10"

A good interview with some tough questions about Barons attitude.

I didn't before but after reading this article I kind of starting to like the nickname "the Terminator". It's so true how he always stares at the bench or at an opponent after an awesome play making Sarah Connors out of his defenders.

Reading the fanpost about Al-Farouq Aminu that ended in a discussion about the value for different lottery picks I remembered this old article from 2008 that pretty much says it all concerning the subject.

Clips Nation Howard Eisley?

When did Howard Eisley become an assistant coach for the Clippers? I found out myself reading Ramonas article over at ESPN Los Angeles. At his wikipedia page it says that he an assistant but at clippers.com he's not mentioned in the staff directory. When did this happen and what will be his responsibility?

Filling out the fanpost, I'm really happy with the staff Del Negro has put together. Hopefully they can put together effective offensive and defensive systems that is tailor made for these specific players.

It would be really interesting to get some insight into the coaching staff situation. Who are doing what and what are their thoughts on the season and the players? Do we have a "big man coach"? Who is responsible for the defense? Is Robert Pack only there for developing players and keeping them motivated or does he also have X&O responsibilities? Maybe something you could work on during training camp Steve?

A league source said Wednesday that the Clippers have asked about Philadelphia forward Andre Iguodala, though there was no indication that Los Angeles has made or will make an offer for Iguodala.

Good podcast about the draft in general but with a focus around pick nr 9 which makes the radio show even more interesting for us Clipper fans.

For me, Givony is the person I respect the most out of all experts concerning the draft and draftees. He makes a strong case why to pick Henry instead of Hayward and I agree.

Information below from the
draftexpress website:

Topics discussed include:

-What kind of prospect is Xavier Henry and where should he be picked?
-What do we know for sure about how the draft will shake out?
-What are the break points in the draft where the talent slips off?
-Who are some of the more random players in this draft in terms of their draft stock?
-My background in European basketball and how that feeds into our work on DraftExpress
-How does Ed Davis stack up as an NBA draft prospect and will he be picked by the Jazz?
-Is there any scenario that Greg Monroe ends up at #9?
-How well does Greg Monroe fit into Utah’s offense?
-Are people missing the boat on Ekpe Udoh’s offensive skills? What kind of NBA player will he be?
-Is Patrick Patterson the forgotten prospect in this year’s draft? Why are people sleeping on him?
-Did the hype over Gordon Hayward get out of control? Will he struggle physically in the NBA?
-How difficult is it to evaluate Luke Babbitt as a NBA prospect?
-What’s coming up over the next eight days on DraftExpress?

Clips Nation Coming out of the shadows and an international perspective of beeing a fan.

First, let me introduce myself. I’ve been a Clipper fan for as long as I’ve been following the NBA, going diehard when my favorite player outside the organization was acquired for a 2nd overall draft pick back in 2001. Some opinions defining me as a citizen. I’m pro Dunleavy, I don’t think we’ll ever see a consistent Kaman 2.0 and the time for this team to win is next year otherwise we have to go into rebuilding mode.

I’m dedicated enough to read the times, and since last year this blog, every morning while eating breakfast but I’ve never been to a Clipper game. Before last season and the evolution of torrent sites, I’ve only been able to watch about 30 games on TV. I have actually never ever met another Clipper fan in real life. The thing is, being from Sweden living 5528 miles away from the Staples Center, it’s as good as it gets.

Basketball isn’t a very popular sport in Sweden. Our national team was playing a very important game in the city that I live in and about 2000 people showed up to watch the game. Sometimes we get a NBA game on national TV but it’s almost always a “laker-celtic” type of game. If you wanted to watch a Clipper game before high speed Internet came to town, you had to order your NBA games on VCR cassettes from Germany. They actually had a good selection of NBA and NCAA games during each season and I do have the ’98 Duke (with the honorable Corey Maggette and some other guy) North Carolina game on tape. If someone wants it, maybe to set it on fire or something during a voodoo ritual, I’ll happily send it to you.

You people that live in the LA area, I hope you understand how lucky you are being so close to the Staple Center. And how happy fans as myself are that you are there supporting the team during the games. Man I whish I also hade the opportunity to see all the games and then watch pickup basketball at UCLA during summer. Keep it up people! It’s rough times like these that really defines us as fans. When we win that title in 10 or 20 years, we will remember that Memphis game back in ‘08 and others similar to it and victory will be sweeter then for any other fan of any other team.

I also would like to thank ClipperSteve and all other people (mike p, citizen zhiv among others) contributing to the site.  Even though I wont be posting much, writing in English takes to much time and energy, I do read everything that’s being written on the site and it’s all excellent stuff making a lonely fan feel a little bit closer to the game.

As for the 31 of December, boo and whistle a little bit extra for me cause I wont be able to go to the game but oh, I would love to be there. Sometimes in European soccer when a traitor comes back to town, a pig’s head is thrown on to the field by the fans. Time to bring this tradition into the NBA?

Oh, and a question. Is there any other international Clipper fans reading or writing on Clipsnation?
