Bloody Elbow How the UFC uses Social Media to build it's brand

How Dana White Built a UFC Empire with Social Media-Mashable.com

Above is a link to an excellent article about how the UFC engages through Social Media. It details what coaching the fighters recieve in the use of sites such as Twitter and why Dana White continues to swear by the site as the man himself puts it:

“Why would I not want to talk to somebody who loves what I do just as much as I do,” White said. “Makes no sense to me… I could sit there and hang out and talk with the fans all day.”

Dana knows what potential Social Media and the internet have:

Twitter

Facebook

Youtube

UltimateFighter.com

UFC Vault

UFC on Demand

Flo TV

Roku

UFClive.com (Germany)

Sohu.com (China)

The sited listed above make UFC content readily avaliable to fans and I applaud this fantastic approach from Dana and the UFC.

Long may it continue.

Bloody Elbow What would Forrest Griffin do?

What would Forrest Griffin do?-Las Vegas Weekly

Some guy bets against you in your next fight...

FG:This is clearly unacceptable behavior. Action is called for. Now, you could beat the guy senseless, of course, but what would he learn from that—and you definitely support education. So you school him by tearing up his betting slip (he would’ve lost anyway, because you’re winning that fight) and making him cry like a little girl.

Dude tries to jack your bottle in a nightclub...

FG:Hold on! You paid a lot of money for that $30 hooch, and now D. Ouche Bagg here is making a grab for it. First, of course, you register annoyance at having to deal with this instead of grooving to the DJ. Then you reclaim your booze with a quick alpha-male move, and finish with a little bottle service of your own.

Cell-blabbing driver cuts you off...

FG:Bad move. Chatty Cathy had better be on the line with 1-800-HELPMEOHGODHELPME, because he’s about to become a crash-test dumbass. After a quick appetizer of his skull, you make him eat his words. Wait, he was talking to his girlfriend? Great: "Hey, girl! When you’re ready to trade up from wuss to incredibly manly fighter, call me. On this phone."

Weirdo tries to hand you and your girl porn on the strip...

FG:Can’t he see you’re with a classy woman? Her lips are saying “Don’t worry about it,” but her eyes are insisting, “Defend my honor!” A slammin’ roundhouse right and pervy goes down, hard. And when she isn’t looking, why not grab a little product for later? For those times you don’t want a classy woman ...

Bloody Elbow Strikeforce basically strips Jake Shields of Middleweight Title

Title Shot awaits Lawler vs Sobral winner

During the media conference call for Strikeforce: Los Angeles Scott Coker announced that if Robbie Lawler defeats Babalu on Wednesday he will fight Jacare for the Strikeforce Middleweight Title. No mention was made of current champion Jake Shields when this was announced all but confirming that Shields had been stripped of the Middleweight title. This is also a very strong indication that Jake Shields will soon be competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

On another note it has been nearly two and a half years since the Strikeforce Middleweight Title was lost in a fight.

Bloody Elbow I think WAMMA may have finally died

WAMMA Homepage

WAMMA Rankings Page

The World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts has neglected to update it's website or rankings since November last year, October of last year in the case of the women's rankings. There Facebook Page also appears to be nothing but Ray Kasprowicz photos of Tuff-N-Uff events. So I believe I am safe in saying farewell WAMMA you were a self serving pointless excuse for a organisation and will not be missed.

Bloody Elbow NY State Senate Approves MMA Regulation

MMA likely to be sanctioned soon in New York-Fighters Only

The New York State Senate today approved most of Govenor Paterson's and budget director Megna's budget. This includes the proposal to allow the New York State Athletic Commission to sanction Mixed Martial Arts events. I believe I speak for fans of the sport around the world when I say that it's taken way to long and we all look forward to the first UFC event in the MSG.

Bloody Elbow Tito Ortiz out of TUF 11 and Liddell Fight

http://fiveouncesofpain.com/2010/03/17/exclusiveneck-injury-forces-tito-ortiz-out-of-tuf-11-and-bout-with-chuck-liddell/

Multiple Hernations in his neck have apparently forced Ortiz out of TUF 11 and his trilogy fight with Liddell. Earlier rumours mentioned that former UFC Middleweight champion Rich Franklin replaced Ortiz as coach on the show.

Back injuries often lead to neck problems and this sounds like it could end Tito's career. In which case I say thanks for the memories Tito I wish good luck in your future endeavours but please shut the hell up.
