Die-hard habs fan of epic proportions.

I write Habs history articles for http://www.habseyesontheprize.com/

The Montreal Canadiens are, in my opinion, the single greatest sports franchise on the planet.

Beaulieu looks to build on playoff success

Your daily links and open thread for Wednesday, as Nathan Beaulieu is looking to turn his playoff performance into a roster spot, Nikita Scherbak does a live Q&A on YouTube, and NHL Central scouting has released a futures list for the 2015 draft.

The defensive conundrum is solved

Marc Bergevin had several issues to sort out on defense this off season, and he made short work of the conundrum left at the end of last season.

Gorges opens up about potential trade

As it becomes increasingly apparent that Josh Gorges is on the move from Montreal, the long time Habs blueliner is beginning to open up about the idea of being traded.

Getting to know Daniel Audette

The Canadiens used their 147th overall pick to select the son of former player Donald Audette. Daniel, like his father before him is small in stature, but brings a high level of offensive skill to the table.

Getting to know Nikolas Koberstein

With the 125th pick in the 2014 entry draft, the Canadiens went off the board to select a defenseman from the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Here's what we know so far about Nikolas Koberstein.

5 undrafted players invited to Habs camp

According to Stephane Leroux of RDS, the Canaiens have invited the following five undrafted players from the QMJHL to their development camp: Marc-Olivier Crevier-Morin, Alexandre Goulet, Bokondji Imama, Philippe Gadoury, and Matthew Highmore. Perhaps the most interesting is Goulet, who was ranked 65th among North American skaters prior to the draft. We'll have to keep an eye out to see if any of these five players can make noise at camp.

Tune in to the 2014 NHL draft

TV Schedule, Live Stream, Mobile, Radio. Here's how you can tune in to the 2014 NHL draft.

Full draft order: Habs hold 7 picks

Heading into the start of the draft tonight, the Canadiens have seven total picks to work with this draft weekend in Philadelphia.

Pacioretty does more than score goals

Max Pacioretty views himself as more than just a goal scorer, a phantom Dale Weise signing, and some tough "odds against the Canadiens heading into next season.

Leblanc traded to Anaheim

It seems the Habs have answered the question of what to do with Louis Leblanc, as they have traded him to the Anaheim Ducks for a conditional fifth round draft pick.

Leblanc traded to the Ducks

Earlier in the week, Andrew Berkshire posed some questions on what should be done with Louis Leblanc. Marc Bergevin seems to have answered that question in no uncertain terms by dealing the Bulldogs forward to the Anaheim ducks for a conditional fifth round draft pick in 2015. A conditional fifth round pick seems to me a bit of a weak return for a player like Louis Leblanc. Sure, he has struggled in recent years, but I would have expected a little more for someone who was drafted as high as he was. What do you think? Was this enough of a return for Leblanc?

The defensive conundrum

With several key free agents, two seemingly NHL ready players in the final year of their respective Entry Level Contracts, and only a pair of defenders under multi-year contracts, the Habs defensive corps is in for quite the interesting offseason.

Derek Dorsett Head Butt on Mike Weaver

Well, what we have here is a very sore loser taking out his frustration with one of the dirtiest plays you'll see in hockey. I would honestly love to hear someone explain to me how this is not suspension worthy. Stay classy, bud.

John Moore dirty hit on Dale Weise

If this isn't a carbon copy of the Prust hit, I don't know what is. Hopefully Dale Weise is alright, but he was being held up by P.K. Subban, and looked a bit wobbled. I was highly critical of Prust and I'll be the same for Moore, this should get a suspension.

Facing elimination, Rangers up 3-1

Your open thread and links for the day.

Tokarski makes a HUGE save

Dustin Tokarski makes yet another amazing save to keep the score tied against the rangers. The third string Canadiens netminder is making a statement against the Rangers, and has been Montreal's best player so far.

The Habs took care of business, eliminating the "big bad Bruins" in the seventh and final game. Your Montreal Canadiens are heading to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Canadiens vs. Bruins game 3 opening montage

The Habs once again show how opening montages are done during playoff time in Montreal. This time featuring Canadian legend Leonard Cohen.

The definition of rivalry

Count em up folks. 33 post season meetings, and one more on the way. The Habs and Bruins have been at this for decades, and there is a lot of history going into this second round series.

There's no place like home

The Habs headed back to Montreal for game three on Easter Sunday. Having won home ice advantage with two road wins, the Habs were able to snatch a 3-0 strangelhold on the series.

The Good Friday Massacre

April 20th, 1984 was the date of one of the most intense brawls in the history of the NHL. The Montreal Canadiens and the Quebec Nordiques engaged in a veritable battle royal during game 6 of the Adams division finals.

Galchenyuk on crutches

Your open thread and links for the day. Alex Galchenyuk is injured, but we're not yet sure how badly. Nathan Beaulieu impressed in Chicago, Markov's streak comes to an end, and more.

Habs bend, but don't break

Clinging to playoff hopes, the Wings rolled into Montreal for somewhat of a similar story as the previous night, with a delicious twist.

Beaulieu called up by the Habs

On the heels of the announcement that Douglas Murray would be suspended for three games, the Montreal Canadiens have called up Nathan Beaulieu for reinforcements.

Habs win five straight!

The Habs have won five straight on the backs of Vanek, Desharnais, and Pacioretty.

Being black in the NHL

While this may seem like an odd topic for a white kid from Ontario to write about, it is a topic I feel needs to be explored. So let's take a look at the history of black players in pro hockey, and how things are now.

Road trip begins in Motown

A quick turnaround after picking up the full four points in their back to back, the Canadiens travel to Motown to take on a Red Wings squad currently battling for a wildcard spot.

Dion Phaneuf obliterates his own teammate

Dion Phaneuf was lining up to smoke Patrick Marleau, but he missed and obliterated his teammate, James Van Riemsdyk. He narrowly missed getting both players, the elusive Pierre McGuire "Double Dion." I know the Habs play the Bruins tonight but this is supremely satisfying, no?

If I scored four goals I'd have it out stroking it

A Saturday night tilt in the Shark Tank against one of the NHL's best teams. Great test for the new top 9, right? Oh yeah, I forgot, Michel Therrien coaches the Habs.
