Things I like:

First time starters on the turf
Rolling Pick 3s
Early and Late Daily Doubles

A clear night at Emerald Downs

Things I dislike:

Always losing photo finishes.
Bug boys that don't know where the finish line is.
Hitting the ALL button and watching the favorite win.
Turf sprints

Fox Hill Farm | Churchill's lack of respect for a legend of racing

3

Sadly, not all is sunshine and lollipops at Churchill Downs this week. Along with the issues at the Fair Grounds, the recent takout hike at Churchill, and now issues with treatment of legendary jockey Ron Turcotte, CDN is putting on a clinic of bad PR. I'm not sure if Churchill Downs is just incredibly tone deaf, ignorant, or just plain doesn't care (probably the most likely cause), but this incident doesn't help their already suspect (at best) image with a lot of racing fans.

Louisiana Puts More Pressure on Fair Grounds | BloodHorse.com

+

This looks like it's going to get messy but brings up a good point with regards allowing slots at tracks and what those additional revenue streams should go towards. Additionally, the blurb about improving the turf course is pure gold because... yeah, a top-class racing facility with grass should be able to withstand at least some rain without moving everything to the main track. The Fair Grounds turf course is in need of a major overhaul.
