A die-hard fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets, amateur BBQer, and professional IT Jack of All Trades. Born and raised in Columbus, OH, I didn't really discover hockey until the Columbus Chill came to town in the 1980s/90s, and my love of the sport was fairly casual until I went to college and shared a dorm room with a Leafs fan. After being converted into a hockey fan through heavy osmosis, once I returned to my hometown in time for the 2002-2003 season to check out the Blue Jackets, the (often tragic) love affair began in full force!

Seventh Heaven

Things started rough for the Blue Jackets, but a two goal outburst late in the second period gave them the boost they needed to beat the LA Kings for their record setting 7th consecutive win.

Right Back At It

The Jackets delivered a statement win last night, but there's still work to be done. After flying up to Buffalo last night, they need to keep up the hard work to continue their winning streak.

Burritos for the Blue Jackets Foundation!

The Blue Jackets Foundation will be partnering with the Arena District Chipotle this Friday, January 17th, to raise a little money, and give you a little food. Just print out this flyer or save it to your phone, go to the restaurant between 11:00am-7:00, show it to the cashier, and 50% of the cost of your order will go to the Foundation. You get tasty food, the Foundation gets a little more money to help families in the community, and let's face it, you wanted an excuse to get out of the office for lunch on Friday anyway. Everybody wins!

Power Surge

The Jackets have been struggling with the man advantage, but the power play came up with two big third period goals to secure a 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Positive Trends

More than a few things are looking up for the Blue Jackets, and their standings against the rest of the Eastern Conference suggest that things may just be coming together for this team.

Lock And Load

It's official - after a long wait, the Blue Jackets fanbase will get to see Nathan Horton take the ice in Union Blue tonight against the Phoenix Coyotes. Oh, but he's not the only guy who appears to be coming back tonight.

New Year, Old Problems

The Blue Jackets started their Western Conference road trip with a promising opening, and a disappointing finish, surrendering three power play goals for the second game in a row.

"Special" Teams.

The Blue Jackets played well against the Pittsburgh Penguins for 51 minutes, but problems with their power plays and a number of penalty calls would hand the game to the Metro division leaders after back to back power play goals.

Game Thread #39: Penguins @ Jackets

God, I hate these guys. Time to get it done in our own barn.

Game 39 Preview: Opportunity Knocks

The Jackets will be facing a battered Penguins team for their last home game of 2013, and there's a lot more than mere pride on the line. Do you have your money on the board?

Skille Shot!

The Blue Jackets went down to Carolina, and found a game to steal thanks to some big saves from Mike McKenna, and Jack Skille's last minute snipe.

The Butcher's Bill

Even before Marian Gaborik's broken collarbone, the Blue Jackets had been adding up a significant amount of games lost to injury, but you may be surprised by the teams at the top of the list for the NHL as a whole.

A Major Case of the Mondays

The Jackets had a chance to pull into .500, and make some headway in the Metro division by winning against the Winnipeg Jets, but injuries and some pretty questionable calls would leave them with a whole load of Monday blahs.

One That Got Away

After taking a big lead against the Blues, the Blue Jackets would fail to capitalize on chances to put the game away, and instead had to settle for a point after an OT loss.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events

Horrifically outshot, undermanned, and outgunned, the Jackets made a game of it for the first 30 minutes of regulation, but a brutal sequence of two minutes and ten seconds put this game away for the Canucks.

Left On The Table

On the second night of back to back games, Curtis McElhinney was brilliant against the Canadiens, but Peter Budaj would outlast him as the Jackets fell 3-2 in a shootout. The point streak continues, but this team needs a win.

Last Minute Heartaches

After earning a point against Washington, the Blue Jackets made some major improvements against the Boston Bruins, but still found themselves earning only a point after surrendering a late overtime goal.

Forever Outworked

The Blue Jackets had a chance to wipe away some of the pain from their 4-2 loss to the Penguins last night in the second half of the home and home series. Instead, the hole just kept getting deeper and deeper as the night went on.

Ducks 4, Jackets 3, Refs 17.

The Blue Jackets didn't do themselves many favors tonight against the Anaheim Ducks, but some questionable officiating had a major impact on the game, and could have long term repercussions for Jackets C Brandon Dubinsky.
