A die-hard fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets, amateur BBQer, and professional IT Jack of All Trades. Born and raised in Columbus, OH, I didn't really discover hockey until the Columbus Chill came to town in the 1980s/90s, and my love of the sport was fairly casual until I went to college and shared a dorm room with a Leafs fan. After being converted into a hockey fan through heavy osmosis, once I returned to my hometown in time for the 2002-2003 season to check out the Blue Jackets, the (often tragic) love affair began in full force!

Jackets Sign McElhinney to a 1 Year Deal

It wasn't the set of goalie deals fans were hoping to hear about today, but they're certainly important. The team has signed C-Mac to a 1 year, 1 way deal, then finalized prospect Anton Forsberg's Entry Level Contract.

Is Ryan Johansen Going To Be A Problem?

After blooming in the second half of the NHL season, Ryan Johansen seems to have stepped back into his shell when he returned to Springfield for the Falcons' playoff run. Was it simply fatigue, or could this be a red flag?

2013 NHL Playoffs: The Game 7 Debate

Blue Jackets 2013 Fan MVP voting starts today!

The Jackets are letting fans vote for the 2013 MVP, and the slate of candidates is interesting. While I have to admit my heart belongs to BOB, the other candidates (Mark Letestu, Vinny Prospal, and Fedor Tyutin) all have some pretty solid credentials. As usual, the club is also offering prizes to fans who vote, and will be announcing the winner later this summer. Vote now! Vote Often!

Should We Be Worried About Gaborik's Groin?

After Aaron Portzline reported that Marian Gaborik will be having surgery to repair an "abdominal injury", should we be concerned about the long term effect on the club's newest star?

2013 NHL Draft: Jackets Will Pick 14th

The Jackets faced long odds to move up to the first pick overall, and not surprisingly, they were unable to capture the top selection.

Making the Case - Bob for Vezina

Though a lot of Columbus fans would say that Sergei Bobrovsky is the clear Vezina winner, it's still not a done deal. The Blue Jackets own Rob Mixer put together a great case for why "Bob" is worthy, and it looks like the team is trying to get fans behind the campaign on social media to help infuence the voters before this summer's NHL awards.

Marching Orders - 4/18/13

The Jackets are IN - now they just have to keep themselves there.

Game 44 Recap: The Sound of Drums

The Blue Jackets got help from Calgary when they defeated the Red Wings in regulation, then battled back to defeat Anaheim in OT to secure 8th place in the Western Conference thanks to a goal from Fedor Tyutin!

Marching Orders - 4/17/13

Short version: We hate three point games as we hate hell, Montagues, and thee. The Jackets need to keep up their winning ways tonight against the Ducks, but some regulation wins (or losses) by the right teams will make a big difference.

Save Cleland Ice Rink!

Cleland Ice Rink is a hockey rink that serves the soldiers and families at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. It was just renovated, it pays for itself with rink fees, and it hosts over 75,000 skaters a year. So of course it's being threatened with closure because of the sequestration budget cuts. Please join Defending The Blue Line and Change.org to help save the Cleland rink!
