Hate to do this.. But oh well, Biggest Offseason Move and Draft targets
I hate to do a mock draft or state which FA's we should go after when we have no money to spend, but I was bored on my 6-hour drive back to work...
Sunday's game, was Cam hurt??
I was at the Saints game yesterday seated in the end zone...
3rd down defense
I have a question for those of you that actually break the game down and deliver an educated answer... But
Need Help Panthers Nation
So I've been living in Shreveport, LA and every Sunday I drive the 5 miles to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Panthers play EVERY Sunday...
NickName for Cam
- Cameron "Wayne" Newton, bc when he steps on the field, it's SHOWTIME!!
- And I also like the Brazilian-type nickname, just simply, CAM.
- What y'all think??
New to Twitter, Need y'alls help
In the coming hours...
Once the NFL opens up for business again..
Which from I've been hearing/reading should be within a month's time. After reading Rick Bates post, great info, I started thinking realistically what we could/would do with the free agent and UDFA market. And well, this is what I have come up with: I'm using the list Rick Bates put up for the 5-year free agents as my source for these names.
Positions of need in my opinion in no particular order: Guard, Defensive Tackle, Defensive End, Corner Back, Outside Linebacker
--Guard-- - Max Jean-Giles, Philly - Davis Joseph, Tampa - Deuce Lutui, Arizona
--Defensive Tackle-- - Barry Coefield, NYG - Tommie Harris, Chicago (FA) - Tony McDaniel, Miami
--Defensive End-- - Mathias Kiwanuka, NYG - Ray Edwards, Minny
--Corner Back-- - Jonathan Joseph, Cincy
--Safety-- - Hiram Euguene, Oakland
--UDFA's-- - Mark Herzelich (sorry for spelling) OLB, Boston College --Danta Williams, FS, UNC --DeAndre McDaniel, S, Clemson --Darvin Adams, WR, Auburn --Noel Devine, RB, West Virginia
I'm looking at this thinking that D-Will will be gone, which I'm strongly against, and with the possibility that CJ may not return, but I think he will. Smitty is gone, sucks, my favorite player ever, side note, I own 4 Panthers jerseys, and after this offseason I think 3 of the 4 will be ex-Panthers, which sucks, Peppers, Smitty, D-Will, and J-Stew...
I feel like if we could get a premium guard to line up next to Gross, Wharton, Kalil, and Otah would be FAN-tastic and make our line extremely solid for years to come. A glaring need to me is cornerback, bc Marshall is gone, Captain is still young, and Gamble, well we don't really know, so I think we need to go out and nab J.Joseph, and pay good money for the guy as well, its a glaring hole on our defense. D-Tackle, I love Coefield, and wish badly we could land him. I like both the UDFA Safeties I listed above alot, and if we could get Hiram cheap, I think he'd be an upgrade. But these are just some of my rambling thoughts, enjoy..

Just a tid bit of information in this boring offseason
Yesterday there were quite a few NFL players out and about around my old college town in Ruston, LA.. And along with some LSU guys there were some Cincy Bengals..
Final look at FA's and Draft, for me anyway.. Leave feedback!
All right, I've kind of been evaluating a lot of websites and mocks and also looking at our team and our depth/needs and this is what I have come up with for my final draft.
BPA is our draft strategy, then we...
If we stay true to form and go with the BPA strategy, I believe we'd take Patrick Peterson, he'd fill 3 starting roster spots(CB, KR, & PR) and looks to have the same effect Darrell Revis has had for the Jets.
Hope Hurney is doing ALOT of studying/preparing for this draft..
If he and Rivera decide that Nick Fairly, the one year wonder, is in fact the guy we want to take with the #1 pick...
Blaine Gabbert, something to think about..
If, and let's hope not, Andrew Luck decides to stay in school, Blaine Gabbert gives us a great option to trade down and accumulate picks and select him, another great Pro Prospect, at 6-5 235 lbs quarterback..
Let me be the 1st to say..
Well fans....
Well fans, since our "franchise" (I use that term as lightly as possible) quarterback is now in the business of apologizing to our defense, rather than our offense (does not make sense, I agree with my boy Smitty here).. I think it's time you all jump off that train.. And let's start considering our what we do in the draft..
Jim Harbaugh on The Herd this morning..
I hope y'all listened to The Herd this morning and heard Colin Cowherd interview Jim Harbaugh...
Since I feel I've been right in the past..
And also wrong about some things, I have no doubt in my mind this should be the direction in which this team heads in the next year.. More after the jump..
2010-11 Free Agent Class
I was wondering if anyone could come across a possible 2010-11 free agent class list...
This year and Next..
I know it's early, but...
I know it's early, but...
I think you tell any NFL person, fan, player, etc. this scenario..
No nickname for Clausen...
We just need to drop the "my" from his name, and call him JIM CLAUSEN!!!
Doesn't it just roll of the tongue, like a Jon Montana, Dan Fouts, etc. Plus it makes him not sound like such a douche, heyy I'm Jimmy.. blah blah, terrible name, Go BY JIM!!!!
I like it alot...
And as for LaFell, I like "Sticks"
"Go Hard" Greg Hardy
Can't wait to get camp reports from all of y'all up there..
WoooW, Michael Lombardi coming with STRAIGHT DISRESPECT
Just heard him say on NFL Network, that we had the worst offseason this year while needing the most help. HIS BIGGEST STATEMENT in my eyes,(And I AM NOT a John Fox fan) but he said IF WE WIN 8 games, 8 games, I repeat 8 GAMES!!!!!!!!, If we win 8 games this year, John Fox would not be Coach of the Year, BUUUT COACH OF THE DECADE..... W T F Michael Lombardi, we are NOWHERE near that bad to be scraping the surface of 8 win, we win an EASY 9 games FOR SURE!!!!!!!
2010 Outlook
I'm a start with what the depth chart should look like after training camp..
QB - Matt Moore, Jimmy Clausen, Tony Pike -- Cantwell Cut (P.S.)
FB - Tony Fiamatta
RB - 1a. DeAngelo Williams, 1b. Jonathan Stewart, Tyrelle Sutton, Daniel Porter(Surprise of camp) -- Mike Goodson cut (P.S.)
(Believe we have great wide receiver depth now)
WR1 - Steve Smith, Armanti Edwards, Wallace Wright
WR2 - Dwayne Jarrett, Brandon LaFell, David Gettis (Yall seem to have given up on DJ, but I feel like he's going to have a breakout year, 800 yards 5 touchdowns, would be great considering the dynamic runnign game we have)
TE - Jeff King, Gary Barnridge, Dante Rosario
LT - Jordan Gross
LG - Travelle Wharton
C - Ryan Kalil
RG - Mackenzy Bernadeau or possibly Duke Robinson
RT - Jeff Otah
(Believe we will address DE, DT quality depth in next year's draft)
DE - Everette Brown, Greg Hardy
DT - Tank Tyler, Louis Leonard
DT - Ed Johnson, Corey Irvin
DE - Tyler Brayton/Charles Johnson
(FInally have goood linebacker depth)
LOLB - Thomas Davis, Eric Norwood
MLB - Jon Beason, JaMarr Williams
ROLB - James Anderson, Dan Conner
(This draft we concentrated on getting depth in the secondary)
CB - Chris Gamble
SS - Charles Godfrey
FS - Sherrod Martin
CB - RIchard Marshall/Captain Munnerlyn
K - Let's hope Kasay gets beat out so we don't waste a positon on a Kick-Off specialist
P - Jeff Baker
KR/PR - Armanti Edwards, Tyrelle Sutton
And now our schedule...
Week One - @NYG - Jumpout with a close victory at the new stadium
Week Two - TB - Easy victory
Week 3 - CIN - Win by 2 touchdowns
Week 4 - @NO - Win a late-game thriller against the World Champs
Week 5 - CHI - Win a tight, hard-fought, defensive battle
Week 7 - SF - Impressive win against an up-and-coming team
Week 8 - @STL - Blowout victory
Week 9 - NO - 1st loss, in a bad game for us
Week 10 - @TB - Rebound with a close victory over the Bucs on the road
Week 11 - BAL - Squeak out another hard-fought defensive battle
Week 12 - @CLE - Crush Delhomme for an easy "W"
Week 13 - @SEA - Unexpected slip-up on the road
Week 14 - ATL - Tough win
Week 15 - ARI - Get going with another win by 10 pts
Week 16 - @PIT - Get our 1st victory against Pittsburgh in a long time
Week 17 - @ATL - Lose this last one before we get a bye into the playoffs
I believe it is very reasonable and optimistic to believe that we can finish at 13-3 with a 1st-round bye and a relatively easy schedule. I believe Matt Moore will have a Pro Bowl year, and I also believe we make it through to the Super Bowl, where unfortunately we fall just short with a loss to the New York Jets.(Hate to say it, but I love what Rex Ryan is doing up there, and they're gonna be impossible to throw against with Revis, Cromartie, and Kyle Wilson)
But I believe this is building up to be what will be one of our more memorable years!! Come on Panthers!!
I'm no Expert, but I am pretty sure...
That I picked us to select, Tony Pike, Greg Hardy, Eric Norwood, Armanti Edwards, and Brandon LaFell......
I tried to look up my old post where I picked these guys to go to us, but I was unable to obtain them, all I'm trying to say is, if Jerry-Rich wants a 2010 college-graduate that just picked 5 of their picks, I'm their man. I am just disappointed that we were unable to aquire either D'Anthony Smith or Dennis Morris from LaTech, which the latter I played high school ball against...
But all and all I think we had a GREAT DRAFT, I didn't originally like the Clausen pick because I'm so I am so dedicated to MATT MOORE, MATT MOORE, MATT MOORE, sorry had to say it 3 times (you just have to)... But i is a great value pick, just too bad we couldn't get Golden Tate to pair with him, BUT THAT'S WHAT WE HAVE SMITTY FOR!!!!
Overall Great Draft, Hurney and Fox saved their jobs with the best draft, that is, next to the Seattle Seahawks, Who got Russel Okung, Earl Thomas, LenDale White, Leon Washington, and Golden Tate in the past 2 days, but I am very, very pleased with our DRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yea sorry if my post is a little messed up, as I myself, am messed up, 18 holes of golf will do that to you, hahahahaha.. Gooooooo Panthers!!!!!!!!!
Armanti Edwards!!!
I love that we got him!!! But did we REALLY trade away next year's 2nd round pick for basically a 3rd-string QB, that has a possibility of being a WR or KR...
Either way you look at it, we have drafted:
2.QB--3a,WR--3b.QB/WR/KR-PR
Just doesn't seem all that smart, I don't know though, I'm not a G.M. But seems like we could've gotten Golden Tate then possibliy Clausen or McCoy, and then gotten Everson Griffin, but what the hell do I know...
I just hope Matt Moore goes and has a great Pro Bowl, SuperBowl-winning season (because I have a bet with a Cowboys fan for $200 that he'll have a better statistacally-speaking season than Tony Romo) Aaand I love Matt Moore, been waiting forever it seems like for him to be the starter!!!
Geeez Panthers
Hope for the best
By the way, living in Louisiana, I watch alot of LSU games and LaFell drops the ball an aweful lot, hopefully he gets better in that aspect and he can step up and be a great player opposite STEVE..
Noooooooooooooooo, WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
We had Golden Tate, Terrance Cody, Carlos Dunlop, and Everson Griffin at our disposal, and yet we select JIMMY CLAUSEN!! WTF!!! I though this was Matt Moore's team!!!! I just yelled at the TV so loud!!! Not to mention my phone just blew up with 10 of my friends laughing at me for us taking this prick!!!! Ahhhhhhhh, damnit Panthers, I guess I can take consolation in knowing that he was #4 on Kiper's Big Board and we got him at #48, Great Value pick, psssssssshh.. Well here's hoping for trading up to get Golden, or drafting Gilyard or Shiply!!
PLEASE FIRE FURNEY!!!!

Maaan Is anybody missing Panther football as badly as me??
I live in Shreveport, LA and I am SICK and TIRED of seeing AND hearing all this Saints Super Bowl Champs talk, I mean bumper stickers, license plates, t-shirts, hats, signs at stores, it's ridiculous, I miss my Panthers, and I need them to thouroughly stomp the Saints next year so I can once again run my mouth to all my friends, like I've done the past 6-8 years haha, Coooooomeee on September!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope we pull something crazy out at the draft, we have to, because we have the super-talent needed to get to the 'Ship, we just need a few holes filled via the draft or free agency, let's not waste Smitty, Gross, Otah, Kahlil, D-Will, J-Stew, Matty Moore, C-Gamble, RichMarsh, Hitman43, THE BEAST, and T-Davis' seasons, let's win one!!
Sorry for the rant, drank too much and in bed kind of early gotta play golf early in the morning and do it all again, haha, Go Panthers!!! I'll continue to keep in touch yall
Why not sign Javon Walker??
He said in a recent Yahoo report that he will play for the league minimum in 2010 and make a lucky team very happy. I don't really see the downside of signing an ex-pro bowl player to the league minimum and seeing what he can do, I mean after all, Randy Moss went to Oakland and blew, and got traded to New England is/was an All-World Wide Receiver.
So what do ya'll think, sign, or don't sign??
Brandon Marshall??
I just saw where it was recently reported that the Broncos are lowering their 1st round demands for Marshall... Why aren't we offering our 2nd and say a 6th round pick for this guy?!??!?!!?!!!
Instead of taking a chance on a rookie Wide Receiver, we could line up Smitty, B-Marsh, and DJ in 3-receiver sets with the 2-headed monster at running back, that combination could make for the BEST OFFENSE in the NFL!!
I wish I was the GM of the Panthers so I could make moves like this that would make us instantly better club.
