Blueshirt Banter Rough start for some prospects?

Chris Kreider: NO points in 4 games and a -1

Ryan McDonagh: NO points in 8 games and a -5

Mats Zucarello: 2 goals, 0 assists in 8 games

Evgeny Grachev: 1 goal, 1 assist in 8 games

Should we be worried? I know it's early, but still.....

Kreider's point total of zero is very surprising

McDonagh's lack of points is not totally surprising, but his -5 is

Zucarello is still adjusting, but I expected more...especially more assists

For Grachev I expected a similar development path as Anisimov. Average first year and dominating second year. So far, Grachev is FAR from dominating...

Your thoughts?

Blueshirt Banter Afinogenov and Stempniak

Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on signing these two players. Both are UFA's.

Afinogenov 24-37-61 in 82 GP last season. Only made 800K last season and will be looking for a raise, but should be relatively cheap.

Stempniak 28-20-48 in 80 GP last season. Made 2.5 mil last season, maybe we could sign him for 3mil??

I think both guys would be worth the risk on a short term contract. We're hearing rumors that the Rangers are talking to Frolov, but he will definitely want more money than those two guys and his stats have been declining the last few season. I also heard that he is inconsistent and doesn't give his best effort, which would not fly with Tortorella.

Any thoughts?

Blueshirt Banter McDonagh and Gilroy

How will McDonagh do in his first season for the Rangers (if he makes the team)? Just want to hear everyone's thoughts.

I must say that I was dissapointed in how Gilroy's season turned out. I was expecting much more, after all he was a Hobey Baker winner and a solid two-way defenseman in college, but it seems as if he struggled for most of the season and did not excel in any part of his game. I realize it's a big step up from college to the NHL and they only play 40 games or so in college, but I was expecting more. Hopefully his game will take off this season with the experience he now has....

How will McDonagh handle the transition and why do most people tend to think he will do well? After all if a Hobey Baker winner struggled, why should McDonagh do well? Just want to know what everyone thinks.

For the record, I love the McDonagh signing and expect big things from him. Hoepfully he will be a top 3 defensman for us for years to come.

With all this talk about the Rangers fighting for a playoff spot I just wanted to shift out attention to the Rangers prosepects playing in the Frozen Four. Derek Stepan had 2g and 2 assists last night and Ryan McDonagh played an awesome game. Kreider had an assist for BC and looked good, too. I can't wait till these guys get here!!! We need them!!!

This TSN article lists the players with highest intangibles for each NHL team. Ryan Callahan is the top one on the Rangers. Interesting read.
