Addicted To Quack Sorry if this has been done.

I have scoured the internet looking for some infomation on Seastrunk.  I am just wondering how he is progressing for you guys.

I'm an Auburn alumni and really liked Lache, I thought he was the perfect back for Auburn and we seemed to burn a bridge with him for some reason.  He will be tremendous in a year or so for you and I will be cheering for him to tear apart the Pac 10.

Anyway, like the title says, sorry if this has been asked, I just couldn't find it.

Dawg Sports A letter from an Auburn alumni.

I will preface this by saying that I have heard stories about some really classless acts by UGA fans to Auburn fans at the game Saturday, with that said, I can only go by what I saw and experienced.  Four of us drove up Saturday morning, this was my second trip to Athens and I had a good time the first time but any trash talking was probably due to student to student trash talking and I was more than likely dishing it out as much as taking it.

Track Em Tigers I Went Home This Weekend

I just wanted to send this out to people who are still at Auburn and those who graduated from there and haven't had the chance to go back in a few years.  Yes, it has changed a lot in the past 9 years since I graduated and some parts are hardly recognizable, but it IS still the loveliest village on the Plains.

I went back up for homecoming with several of my friends this weekend and we all stayed with one of my friends who still goes to school here, my advise to him after one of the best days I have had in awhile, enjoy it while you are here.  Enjoy all of the small things.  Enjoy seeing the Toomer's rolled mess at night, it is a beautiful site to behold.  Enjoy the people who surround you, 95% of them are great people.  Enjoy Tiger Walk, it is a great experience.  Enjoy being able to hang out at the baseball park before a game and watch some baseball on a beautiful game day.

I have always told my buddies that one of my favorite memories at Auburn was something so stupid and something that normally I would hate, going to afternoon baseball games and just hanging out for a couple hours.  Saturday I lured them in and everyone had a blast.  I normally hate baseball and generally despise everything about it, but at Auburn, I love it.  We went in after Tiger Walk and just hung out for about an hour before the game and watched some old timers playing, I have no idea who they were or why they were playing, but it was fun just sitting around on a great Saturday afternoon and watching it.

The crowd at Jordan-hare was weak on Saturday, not many showed up and there were a ton of empty seats, but for anyone who wasn't there, you couldn't ask for a better afternoon for football, 65-70 and sunny.  We had plenty to cheer about with the team clicking from the start and we got to see a lot of the backups play and see how they will react a little next year.

Then we all hit the bars, we went downtown and hung out with some old friends and made some new ones.  I have to say, while only a few bars that were here when I went to school here still exist, some of the new ones are pretty damn fun in their own rights too.

War Eagle everybody, take it in and enjoy it, there are few places better to be.

Track Em Tigers A little late but a quick look at some of the Ole Miss roster.

Watching the game Saturday was the first time in a month I was happy watching football.  What a difference playing well makes.  Honestly, losing to Arkansas and Kentucky didn't kill me, but I would have been much happier if we had at least shown up to play, and in the same line, pu LSU in there with playing poorly.

Back to the topic, I have really been following Auburn recruiting for the past 5 or 6 years and it was really weird looking at the Ole Miss roster to see so many recognizable names on the list.  I will name a few, Enrique Davis, Rodney Scott and Raymond Cotton to start, they were all committed to the Tuberville regime at one point and now play for Nutt at Ole Miss.

The thing that got me is what happened to Davis?  He was second string last year and now Scott is above him in the depth chart, did he get hurt or anything?

Track Em Tigers I couldn't sleep. so here are some Auburn wallpapers.

Well boys, I made a few wallpapers last season and just couldn't sleep tonight so I brought my laptop to bed with me and got to work on a new one.  I personally like it a little better and I made a full screen and a wide screen version.  I hope you guys like it and if you have any ideas for some more, just drop a comment and I will see what I can do.

Track Em Tigers Big time commitment today.

A day after Auburn showed off its new offense under the new regime and almost doubling Gene Chizik's winning percentage for the past two years, we get a big time commit.  Welcome to the family LaDarius Owens.

Taken from Rivals.com:

"I committed to Auburn," said Owens. "It feels good. I'm coming home.

"I just love being down there. I'm comfortable. I feel like I'm at home. Auburn is the place for me. I just couldn't look the other way on that. I love it there. I feel like I can help Auburn, help turn around the program."

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Owens, nephew of former Tiger James Owens, picked Auburn over offers from Alabama, Florida State, Tennessee, Clemson, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, among several others.

"I'm just so glad to get it over with," said Owens. "I've been really blessed. I really appreciate all of the schools that recruited me. I'm really thankful for them, their interest and their offers, but I feel like Auburn is the best place for me."

I am proud that he is a great player that is committed to Auburn and I am even more proud that his speech was great.  Seems like a good kid and will be a great Tiger for us.

Track Em Tigers How About an Entire Top 25 Shakedown?

I would love for college football to stop with the preseason Top 25 crap already.  Just in the SEC so far, what do we have going on?

- Ole Miss is struggling against a Memphis team that is reasonable but should be in the game.

- Alabama struggled against a team with no offense, and I do understand that a good defense can make an offense look bad, but I think they really were just bad.

- Mississippi State, what can I say other than they are much improved on both sides of the ball.  This was against a non-team but I think next week will really show how good Auburn and Miss State are.

- Auburn put up 550 yards of offense and weren't even fully clicking yet against a reasonable team.

- Florida was the only team that really came out and played like expected, they dominated both sides of the ball, but again, they were playing no one and were favored by 50 or something.

- Tennessee, call me crazy but this might be a hell of a team by the end of the year.  Auburn and Miss State might not be the only newly coached teams buying into new systems and showing a lot of improvement.  I think if Auburn can beat Tennessee this year, we will finish at least second in the West.

- LSU struggled against Washington who hasn't won a game since 2007 I think and had almost no offense.  LSU might be interesting to watch this year.

- South Carolina won by 4 in the most boring game since a 3-2 Miss State and Auburn game last year.

My point to most of this is that so far, the teams that were supposed to be top 10 teams aren't impressing while the teams picked to finish last in their divisions are showing signs of life.  If the AP isn't willing to completely shake up the Top 25 after the first few weeks as teams settle in, then they shouldn't put it out until week 3 or 4.  Look at the big picture for a second, Oklahoma lost to BYU and I am not sure it was just because Bradford went down.  Oregon looked terrible, and I mean terrible against Boise State and they were ranked number 16 or something.

Preseason polls are entirely too important to how you finish the season now and it shouldn't be.  If Auburn and Tennessee are both 4-0 when we meet, do you think either will be ranked or do you think that both might be?  It is ridiculous how much rides on the preseason polls and the unwillingness of the AP to correct them after the first week.

All in all, come next week BYU will be around number 10, maybe 9 and Oklahoma will be 0-1 and rocking a number 10 ranking.  I can't see Oregon staying in the top 25 but they will stick another Pac 10 team up there to be able to say that USC plays good teams.

Track Em Tigers Big Cat Weekend

I just read about this on Rivals and this is very impressive.  Chizik and company have certainly targeted the best players out there and are going to do everything they can to impress them and get them to come to the plains next February.  Here is a sniplet from Rivals:

Five-star recruit Marcus Lattimore, ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 2 running back in the country, visited Auburn in March.

He'll be back on the Plains this weekend and won't be the only top recruit.

Approximately 25 other prospects, most ranked the best in the nation at their position, plan to be there with him. Auburn is calling the event "The Big Cat Weekend".

The group is set to include the No. 1 and No. 2 running backs, the No. 2 wide receiver, the No. 2 outside linebacker, No. 4 offensive tackle and the No. 6 guard. And that's just for starters.

Honestly, how can you not be impressed with this.  Every recruit that has been to Auburn under Chizik and every recruit that has talked to the new coaches have loved the Plains.  This should really shed light on the way that the Tuberville group phoned it in for recruits the past few years.

Track Em Tigers Let's talk football people.

Over on al.com they posted a short video stint of some interviews that included Chizik, Taylor and Todd and had some short quotes for Trotter and Burns about the quarterback race being wide open.

So I got the fever, and the only prescription is talking some football.

Let's start it up with who you guys are rooting for the starting quarterback spot, who you think will actually get it and how do you think it will play out.

I will kick it off with my opinion:

Firstly, I am rooting for Trotter.  I personally don't think that Burns has the smarts to lead an SEC team past an 8 win season and I think that Trotter has enough talent and athletic ability to lead us past that barrier.  Of course, this is all on paper and in theory, in actuality he might not be good and might never be good, but I root for him to get a chance to prove himself and that is all he can hope for.

I think that,in reality, it will be a split playing time between Trotter and Burns with Burns getting the majority of the starts.

And lastly, I think that Mosely and Rollison both get in but both get redshirted.  I think that Todd will just never be back to health and not see the field and I think they will see Caudle and wasted time and effort trying to teach a senior the system to have him leave that year.  I think they will name Burns the starter for A-Day and shortly after, they will name him the starter for the fall.  I don't think that Chizik and Malzahn will be dumb enough to drag out the quarterback battle out past the start of summer and they will have a starter named by then.

War Eagle people.

Track Em Tigers My pre-preseason rankings. Sort of...

I am bored so I decided to look around for a bit and do a pre-preseason rankings that  partially includes the potential players from the 2009 recruiting classes and the returning players for next year.

1.  Florida.  How can you bet against this team for next year?  They return most of their defense that should be pretty nasty, and they added some depth with a few from the class this year.  On offense they still have Tebow and he drives them to win.  They might be able to run the table next year and go undefeated for the season.

2.  USC.  I rank them here because I think they will start and end the season here.  They lose Sanchez at the helm but Mustain will play well.  They play in a weak conference overall, they will lose a game and finish the regular season at 3rd, win the bowl, and bitch because they were left out of the championship, it is just what they do.

3.  Texas.  I know this is starting to look an awful lot like the final rankings but can you argue it now either?  Colt McCoy returning with a ton of weapons and a defense that will play well enough.  The Red River might be a game to play for the championship game again this year.

4.  LSU.  Yep, I am going back on me saying that Alabama will win the West.  LSU looks strong and they had a very good class of kids that can help them.  I think Jefferson will be the clear cut quarterback and will have some hiccups along the road, but they can lean on a run that will win some games.  Solid team on both sides of the ball and might be the only team that will rival Florida for being top to bottom best team.

5.  Oklahoma.  Just good and they return a on of weapons.  They will keep on scoring 45 to 50 a game and lose to the first team to hold them to 20.

6.  Alabama.  I can’t believe that I just said that.  I initially thought they would be about 10 or so due to having no quarterback with experience and replacing the majority of an offensive line, but holy crap has almost every team lost a ton of players.  Alabama’s defense is going to win them games and if they can make it through the first 4 or 5 games unscathed, they might can make a run at it.  I just don’t see them having the talent in place fast enough to play against LSU next year though.  They will have a tough time in their opener against Virginia Tech, but Tech lost a lot of players too.  I think that their first loss will potentially be in week 6 at Ole Miss.

7-25.  It’s a toss up.
-Georgia could be good but they are replacing their two biggest offensive threat.
-Ohio State was terrible without Beanie Wells last year so will next year be any different.  -Can Ole Miss play that good again?
-FSU looks solid but they lost a lot of seniors this year and could go either way.
-Penn State loses almost their team and Oregon loses that many too.
-Texas Tech might lost about 35 or 40 players, seriously, look at their roster from last year, they have a ton of seniors.
-Boise State has a horrible schedule and probably will not get any respect until the end of the season.
Utah is in the boat with Boise State.

Man, next year is going to be interesting.  Outside of the top 4 or 5 teams, there are no favorites for next season.  The classes from last year will play a huge role in next season with as many seniors as most of the top teams had last year.  Unfortunately, that brings us to Auburn.

My outlook for Auburn:  Our schedule is rough, but doable.  We will find out week 3 if we are any good or not when West Virginia shows up to town.  I think that if we can fenagle our way through the season with injuries to a minimum, we can do a 9-3 season, but I don’t see us being able to win at LSU or beat Alabama next year.  I certainly think that we can be competitive against Alabama for sure, but right now they are just more talented than us and they have a better line on both sides of the ball, that in the end will lose us that game.  Looking at the schedule, I would say that if our line plays solid and we find a quarterback to play solid, not great, we could be 7-0 going to LSU.  At Tennessee and at Arkansas will will be good games but we can win them.

No matter what, if our offense shows some improvement next year I will enjoy the season much more than I did this year.  Losing is never fun, but we took it to a new level in the way we were losing last year.  But we have promise, they just have to get it together.

Track Em Tigers Can someone enlighten me?

I see that Jonathon Evans and Terrence Coleman are heading to Tennessee this weekend and Coleman is quoted as saying "My aunt wanted me to go to Tennessee and see what I like about it.  But like I said, I like Auburn. Things might change, but right now I like Auburn."  I don't understand this mentality.

Auburn isn't the only school, by far, with players that are "committed" that have this attitude.  Why commit to a school if you aren't committed to it and are still looking around?  I understand that circumstances change, it is bound to happen and this could instigate a change, but if you are continuing to look while nothing has change, then why commit to begin with?

At this point, I am so sick of Coleman's crap and attittude that I kind of hope he doesn't make to the plains.  He has committed and decommitted, then he recommitted and now he is looking around again and saying that we are tied with Arkansas but he is still committed to Auburn.  None of this makes since to me.  Look around until you decide on a school and stick with it.  How hard is this?  Don't commit to a school unless you are sure.

Last year showed me something that Auburn is in desperate need of, heart.  We don't need to pick up players that don't want to play for Auburn, we need players that want to be there.

Track Em Tigers Holy WTF Batman! Gulley commits and ESPN hates him.

Ok.  Let me get this straight, Gulley commits to Auburn and ESPN absolutely hates him.  He is rated as a 3 star recruit according to Rivals.com and a 67, yep a 67, on ESPN.com.  Take a gander at this kid's numbers:

-31 touchdowns in 11 games.

58 carries for 1162 yards,  a 20 yard average.

-17 catches for 543 yards, a 32 yard average.

-6 kickoff returns for 244 yards and 2 touchdowns, almost 41 ypr.

-5 punt returns for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns, almost 41 ypr again.

Outside these ridiculously gaudy numbers, he also had 48 tackles, 9 sacks and two picks as a free safety.

How is this kid rated so poorly?  I don't care if he is playing on the peewee B team as an 18 year old, these numbers are sick.  He averaged about 35 yards everytime he touched the ball all year.  Can anyone explain this to me?  He is being looked at to play slot receiver and at 5'11 and 185 pounds, he could be pretty dangerous at slot.

Track Em Tigers Shocker: James Willis Heading To Tuscaloosa

Apparently, in the merry-go-round that is the SEC West coaching staffs, linebackers coach James Willis has taken a job at Alabama.  I would think that a little money and a new title wouldn't draw a man to his alma mater's number one rival.  Good job James Willis, you have now broken the mold.

Here's what Willis said:

"I'm excited about the opportunity to come and work with Coach Saban at the University of Alabama," said Willis. "He is one of the best defensive coaches in the game and this is a chance to gain some great experience and learn from the best. You don't get many chances like that in the coaching business. When you combine that opportunity with the history and tradition at Alabama, it was a decision that was best for me personally as well as professionally. I know my wife and the kids are as excited as I am to join Coach Saban's staff."

Here's what Nick Saban said:

I'm extremely pleased and happy to have James join our staff," said head coach Nick Saban. "We tried to go out and hire the best possible coaches when this process started and I'm confident we've done that. James has everything you would want in terms of finding an outstanding coach and an outstanding recruiter with a lot of enthusiasm and intensity. He's played in the SEC and the NFL, and grew up and coached in the state of Alabama so he will be able to contribute in many areas and make a positive impact as we continue to build a championship program here at Alabama. We're glad to have the Willis family here with us at the University of Alabama."

Track Em Tigers Alright. I am now confused.

What is going on with our recruiting efforts these days and what is going on with the recruits on our radars?

So Rivals comes out and says that Reuben Randle is coming to town the weekend of January 10 and then that he had to reschedule due to his father not being able to get off work that weekend.  Come Monday morning Randle's father starts denying that his son ever was supposed to take a trip to Auburn.  How did the original information get out and by who and what happened that weekend?

The reason that I bring this one up and now another one has done the same thing in Benton, a receiver from Lousiana.  Another recruit that was supposed to visit and decided to sit it out in Atchinson, a linebacker that is committed to Alabama.

I really must not be clued in to the mind of stupid teenagers anymore, I guess that is due to if I make a commitment, I stick to it.  I don't understand all the backing out and the shadiness of not rescheduling and the way it is being done.  Can anyone enlighten me on this thing?

Track Em Tigers This is why I am happy

There is one reason that I am very happy about Randle coming into town this weekend, our new coaches have some asperation finally.  This is something that Tuberville and his staff lacked, goals.  Chizik has apparently told the staff to go after guys and hope that we grab one or two and this is a great mentality to have.  It is like the hot girl at the bar, you have to try to get her.

This mentality will really help us whether we get any of them or not, at least they are making an effort to try to get them to come.  I sometimes get bored and look at the recruiting board on Rivals and I noticed about 4 5star recruits on our board the other day and today there are a few more and a few more people are taking visits.

While this might not make a difference this year, I really believe that if we show good improvement on the offensive side of the ball and can win 7 or 8 next year, the recruiting will be much better next year.

Track Em Tigers Alright. Coup 1 complete

al.com is reporting that Antonio Coleman is returning.

Antonio Coleman says he's returning to Auburn

by Charles Goldberg, Birmingham News Saturday January 03, 2009, 3:12 PM

Auburn defensive end Antonio Coleman said Saturday he's coming back for his senior season instead of going to the NFL, according to our friends at AuburnSports.com and Inside the Auburn Tigers. That's a recruiting coup for new coach Gene Chizik, who saw defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks say earlier this week he's decided to turn pro, though could change his mind before the Jan. 15 deadline.

Coleman had 46 tackles this season, including 10.5 for losses. Six of those were sacks. Marks started 35 straight games before taking a weekend off against Tennessee-Martin late this season. He had 32 tackles, including 10 for losses. He was ninth on the team in tackles. He has 114 career tackles.

This is good news and I hope that with the depth on the defensive line we have accumulated this year and played a lot this season, I hope that Coleman moves around the defense and plays some outside linebacker, where we don't have a ton of depth and he is projected to play in the NFL.  Not sure if Blackmon's decision really affects us either way since he hasn't played an entire season yet anyway, but Powers would be a big keep just in terms of depth.

Track Em Tigers Ole Miss takes Texas Tech to the woodshed. Hilarity insues.

Houston Nutt sure did a good job in preperation to face one of the best passing attacks in the country today.  What really baffles me about this game is near the end.  Doesn't taking your helmet off on the field warrant an ejection out of the game?  At the end of the game on two consecutive plays, a lineman for Texas Tech took off their helmets while going absolutly crazy and neither got thrown out and the first time they didn't get any kind of penalty at all.  I am not sure but they sure looked like a bunch of crybaby thugs who resorted to trying to fight after they realized they couldn't play with Ole Miss.

Congratulations on a big win boys of Ole Miss, you had a good season and finishe strong and made the SEC proud today.

Track Em Tigers War Eagle!

I have to admit with the hiring of Chizik and Malzahn that I am more excited about next year's season than I have been about Auburn football since probably 2003 when we were preseason #3 and loaded with talent.  We all know how that ended but I am still excited about next season.  Now this and the fact that I have a week off and am extremely bored, I jumped on Photoshop and whipped up a couple wallpapers for you guys, you might like them, you might not.

I do have some comments to make about next season now that visions of 550 yards and lots of points has subsided from my mind.  Next year will be another bumpy ride.  This year we were breaking two new coordinators and next year we are breaking in a new staff entirely so lets set some realistic goals for ourselves.  But what are these realistic goals?  Next season we have a brutal road schedule and a tough out-of-conference schedule to boot.  Here is a copy of the schedule for anyone not having it:

9/5: West Virginia

9/12: Mississippi State

9/19: Kentucky

9/26: Ball State

10/3: @Tennessee

10/10: @Arkansas

10/17: Southern Miss

10/24: @LSU

10/31: Ole Miss

11/7: Furman

11/14: @Georgia

11/21: OPEN

11/28: Alabama

Looking at the schedule, is 7-5 a realistic goal for the regular season or would making a bowl game be more realistic?  Should realistic goals just be set on improvement?  How about finishing in the top 60 in offense with improvements of defense placed good fundamentals, something our defense has lacked over the past few years?  Most companies set two sets of goals, short term and long term and here is what goals I have in my mind and I believe they are realistic: Short term goal is to improve on offense and showing signs of fundamental improvements on defense while making a bowl game.  Long term goals of competing for the West and the SEC in 3 years.

I honestly believe that these goals are realistic for us at this point and the only way to achieve these goals is for fans, boosters and the athletic department to allow time for these to happen.  Next year might not be much better than this year in terms of wins/losses but we need to hang in there and let them work everything out and to put in place the tools to achieve long term goals.

While we are saying that this could be a turning point, or game changing point, for the team, we as fans need to also have a turning point in the way we react to things.  I am certainly including myself with this statement.  The team and university needs support right now to know that they are still loved, something we honestly haven't done in a long time.  The bandwagon fans need to take a hike and be quiet for a couple years until they can safely jump back on because it will be bumpy.  Our team doesn't need us screaming at every mistake next year and screaming for coaches to be fired because like it not, those screams are heard.  I for one think that Tuberville needed to go, but that is history now and we can look forward to the future.

Track Em Tigers Auburn Undercover is reporting that Gus Malzahn is the new OC

That is right, the guy who was the mastermind behind the Wildcat formation at Arkansas in 2006 and the guy who went to Tulsa and has had the number one offense the last two years there is our new offensive coordinator according to auburnundercover.com.  If this is true then that is a good hire, he runs a balanced offense and does it big.  Last year he had a 5000 yd passer, three 1000 yd receivers and a 1000 yd runner.  Should be interesting but he have to be willing to turn it over to him and I hope they will.  This guy could be huge for us and just what I was hoping for.

Malzahn is capable of using the talent at his disposal to maximize his offense.  At Arkansas he reinvented the Wing formation to use his talented backfield and at Tulsa he used a no-huddle spread style to tear apart defenses.  Should be fun to watch if he can do it.

Track Em Tigers If Chizik is our next coach then...

Let's take a look at the positives for Chizik.  He was defensive coordinator for Auburn 2002 to 2004 when he left for Texas and was DC for them for one season before taking the HC job at Iowa State.

Now that his psuedo resume is done, let's look at the Auburn portion of it.

- Our recruiting has gone down since his departure.

- Our defensive mechanics have gone down since his departure.

- Our team has been on a steady decline since his departure, especially in SEC play.

His time at Texas speaks for itself so let's look at Iowa State.

- He had nothing to work with when he arrived and hasn't been able to bring any talent in to win a game for him.  His record stinks and everyone knows it.

I think for him to succeed at Auburn, he will have to get a great offensive coordinator and staff and let them do their thing.  With the hire of Chizik, this is actually a great opportunity to put any offense in place and get some time to allow it to develop.  If Auburn is to try to implement a high powered offense, this is going to be our best time to do it.

To sum up, Chizik on paper sucks for us and he made some comments when he left that could be construed as bad, but most outside of the Auburn family would agree that Texas is a better offer for a head coach than Auburn is.  He didn't spit on us and say that Auburn is a crap offer, just that Texas is a better opportunity.  We have a blank slate to work with now and anything can happen with it.  If Chizik is to be named, at least he can come now and start getting his guys in place and hit the road now instead of waiting for him to coach a bowl game.  We need to stop hollaring for Jacob's head now and get behind the program again.  Jacob's fate now will ride with Chizik's, if Chizik fails then Jacob's will likely be gone.  Chizik knows his way around the south for recruiting already so he should be able to pick up where he left off and possibly have some new connections in the Texas/Oklahoma area now.

We need to rally now and show the possible recruits that they will still have support.

Roll 'Bama Roll Question for the Bammers.

I will preface by saying that I am an Auburn fan.

It shocks me that Saban didn't learn from Auburn last year about the quarterback situation.  Why do you think, with every claiming that Star Jackson is the heir apparent, Saban reshirted him this year instead of getting him in the game every chance he could?  If Star is nearly as good as predicted coming in, then he might not be around for his senior year anyway.  This baffled me and just thought I would ask.

Also, is Bama calling next year a rebuilding year also or do you guys think you can make a run at the SEC again?  I just ask because depth was an issue this year for you guys, although no one was able to test that theory, and you guys lose a lot of key positions.

Track Em Tigers One thing I learned and loved about FSU.

Ok, so I am biased since I grew up a FSU fan and went to Auburn, but this is one of the big things I love about FSU recruiting.

They bring back some of the big players as recruiters.  Dexter Carter, a classic running back from the 90s is one of their big recruiters and Lawrence Dawsey, a great receiver from the late 80s and early 90s is another one.  Why hasn't Auburn done this?  Why not bring back some of the old players, that would be willing, to help with recruiting.  I understand that most of them are well-educated, umm, and have good jobs outside of football, again umm, so why not pay them a decent salary and bring them in to help with recruiting?

Imagine a Auburn recruit being visisted by the likes of say a Frank Sanders, Tracy Rocker, Aundrey Bruce or a Brent Fullwood.  A name that people know and were outstanding at their positions would go a long way for recruiting assistance.

We need to learn from this and try to implement this, surely the University still has some support from some of these players that would love to move back to Auburn and help out.

Track Em Tigers My question about Tubs' dismissal.

With Tubs gone now and likely all the assistants, what happens with Paul Rhodes?  Is he actually under contract with Tubs or does he have a seperate contract with the University?  If he is staying we have a solid DC that should be able to do better if we get a good offensive minded HC that can keep the defense fresh.

Do we really think that Leach would be a good fit at Auburn?  Do we really want to go down this road of pass heavy offense?  Would Kevin Wilson or Brent Venables be able to be pulled away from OU?  I don't think that Muschamp could be pulled back into this situation now that he has in-depth knowledge of the goings on of Auburn.

Track Em Tigers A quick roll call.

When dealing with fansites and message boards you get to wondering who you are talking to.  Arie and I have been friends for a few years, where else does everyone live.  We live in the Dothan area, just wondering if we have any fellow-Track Em-ites around this area.  I am mainly asking because I find myself waking up on gameday Saturdays, even this morning when we are off and just start cooking different things to tailgate a day of college football.

Track Em Tigers I figured it out, what the offense REALLY needs.

We need a sports training montage.  They usually only take about 30 seconds to a minute and even have a slow motion part and a badass motivational song, Survivor's Eye of the Tiger ring any bells?  If someone would assemble that immediately, and possibly post it on here, all will be right in the Plains again soon enough.

Sorry, I am feeling goofy from being tired and thought I would try to make light of our crappy offense.

Track Em Tigers Umm, What About the Rest of the Season?

Well.  Here we are, 4-2, most likely and deservingly no ranked in a couple hours and I can't help but to think, what happens from here.  I said 8 months ago that if Tubberville can't win a championship with the talent we have this year, he won't win one at Auburn and looking now, we might not even make a bowl game.  Take a gander at the schedule:

08/30/08 vs. Louisiana-Monroe Auburn, Ala. W, 34-0
09/06/08 vs. Southern Miss TV Auburn, Ala. W, 27-13
09/13/08 at Mississippi State # TV Starkville, Miss. W, 3-2
09/20/08 vs. LSU # TV Auburn, Ala. L, 26-21
09/27/08 vs. Tennessee # TV Auburn, Ala. W, 14-12
10/04/08 at Vanderbilt # TV Nashville, Tenn. L, 14-13
10/11/08 vs. Arkansas # Auburn, Ala. 4:00 p.m. CT
10/23/08 at West Virginia TV Morgantown, W.V. 6:30 p.m. CT
11/01/08 at Mississippi # Oxford, Miss. TBA
11/08/08 vs. Tennessee-Martin (HC) Auburn, Ala. 1:30 p.m. CT
11/15/08 vs. Georgia # Auburn, Ala. TBA
11/29/08 at Alabama # Tuscaloosa, Ala. TBA

With our offensive performance to date this season, Arkansas and Tenn-Martin might be our only two wins left in the season and Arkansas will be a fight.  As a 6 win team, we really don't deserve a bowl game.  I fell horrible for our team since I think that we might be the most talented team in the SEC with the exception of Georgia and our coaches have done the best job of not having them prepared for any game, much less off-season training that I have ever seen.

This is me trying to stay upbeat, but I just don't see anything positive from this season.  Do you think that recruits want to go to a school with such dysfuntionality as we have had this year?  Do you think that IF we get rid of Franklin this year, do you think that another good offensive coodinator would want to come into a situation where he doesn't have the ability to put his system in place?  Don't get me wrong, I think we have to get rid of Franklin whether it is his fault or not.  I say this since there is a disease on the offense, whether it is Franklin or the fact that no one will allow him to run his system.

Track Em Tigers man o' man.

Alright, I have been trying to defend this debacle of an offense in my head all year and I can't do it anymore.

Track Em Tigers How good is Auburn really?

Let me preface this by saying that I am Auburn alumni and I love the team and school.  With that said, how good is our football team really?  Do you honestly believe that this season can be salvaged at this point or is everyone starting to look toward next season?
