SB Nation Denver Rockies Vs. Mariners Score Update: Colorado Swept At Home

Carlos Gonzalez provided most of the offensive support in the loss, recording three hits and driving in two runs. Gonzalez also hit his eighth home run of the season.

Blake Beavan pitched well in the win, striking out seven batters in five innings. Jesus Montero and Justin Smoak each drove in two runs to help the Mariners earn the sweep.

SB Nation Chicago White Sox Vs. Cubs Score Update: White Sox Sweep Cubs

A dominant pitching performance from Jay Peavy was all the Chicago White Sox needed to complete a sweep of the rival Chicago Cubs. Peavy pitched 6.1 shutout innings to help lead the White Sox to a comfortable 6-0 win at Wrigley Field.

With the win, Peavy improved his record to 5-1 this season. He struck out seven batters and allowed just three hits in a truly impressive effort. The White Sox offense gave Peavy strong run support, with three different guys hitting home runs. Adam Dunn continued his strong play with his 14th homer of the season, while Gordon Beckham and Tyler Flowers also hit home runs.

The Cubs struggled to generate consistent offense in the loss, recording just five hits. Paul Maholm saw his record fall to 4-3 after allowing five earned runs in 6.1 innings pitched.

SB Nation Chicago White Sox Roster Update: Chicago Signs Orlando Hudson

In an effort to boost a struggling infield, the Chicago White Sox have signed a proven winner. According to ESPNChicago, the White Sox agreed to terms with Orlando Hudson:

The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms with veteran infielder Orlando Hudson, according to a major league source.

The San Diego Padres released Hudson from his contract on Thursday. Hudson, who signed an two-year, $11.5 million contract with the Padres before the 2011 season, was hitting .211 with one homer and 11 RBIs. Hudson was making $5.5 million this year, with a $2 million buyout for next year.

SB Nation Chicago White Sox Vs. Cubs Score Update: John Danks Perfect Through 4 Innings As Sox Lead 4-0

The Chicago White Sox have already experienced pitching history this season, with Philip Humber throwing a perfect game earlier this season against the Seattle Mariners. However, the White Sox could be in for another historical night, as they lead 4-0 and John Danks is perfect through four innings against the Cubs.

Dayan Viciedo has provided the majority of the offense for the White Sox, as he has two hits, including a home run, and three RBI's through four innings. A.J. Pierzynski also has hit a home run to help peg the White Sox to the early lead.

Danks, who struggled mightily in his last start, has kept the Cubs lineup on its toes. Danks has been very inconsistent this season, allowing at least four earned runs in five of his starts. However, he seems to have found his command early against the Cubs.

SB Nation Chicago Kerry Wood Discusses Future With Organization

Following an emotional farewell on Friday, in which he struck out the final batter he ever faced in his career, Kerry Wood finally had the chance to think about what he wants to do now that he has officially retired. According to the Chicago Tribune, Wood will enjoy time with his family, but will maintain a role with the team:

Wood said he hasn't told the Ricketts about what he wanted to do, but sources said he will be around the team in a multi-capacity role as a "special assistant," like Greg Maddux was for the last two years of the Jim Hendry regime.

"I'm going to take some time here and enjoy the family," Wood said. "I got to go to a Little League game this morning, which was awesome. I'm really just going to enjoy this for a little while. I'm definitely going to miss the game, but I'm going to be watching, and I'll be around."

Wood pitched for 14 years, but his career was unfortunately derailed by 16 trips to the DL. He is probably best remembered for striking out 20 batters in just the fifth start of his career.

SB Nation Denver Preakness 2012 Results: I'll Have Another Wins Preakness

For the second consecutive race, I'll Have Another put his remarkable closing speed on display, as he rallied down the stretch to win the 2012 Preakness and set up an enticing Belmont Stakes. Just as he did down the stretch at the 2012 Kentucky Derby, I'll Have Another passed Bodemeister, who looked like he was in position to get revenge for the loss at The Derby.

I'll Have Another will have the opportunity to become the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win the Triple Crown. However, I'll Have Another will have to overcome recent history, as 11 other horses since Affirmed in 1978 have entered the Belmont Stakes with the opportunity to earn a spot in the record books. The last horse to have the opportunity to win the Triple Crown was Big Brown back in 2008.

Update: Full Preakness results are here.

Following the 2012 Kentucky Derby, there was a belief that despite finishing in second, Bodemeister might have been the best horse. SB Nation Denver Ryan Clady Contract Update: Broncos And Clady Begin Discussions

The Denver Broncos know that the only way that Peyton Manning can make the contributions necessary to compete for a Super Bowl is to make sure that he has the time to make every throw. According to the Denver Post, the Broncos are making sure this is the case, as they have opened contract discussions with Pro Bowl LT Ryan Clady:

The Broncos have opened contract-extension talks with Ryan Clady, according to several NFL sources.

The left tackle is in the final year of his deal that will pay him $3.5 million in 2012. The franchise tag for left tackles this season was $9.4 million.

While the Broncos and Clady's agent are talking, it may be a while before the two sides are close to an agreement.

The Broncos' first-round pick, No. 12 overall, in the 2008 NFL draft, Clady almost immediately became one of the league's best at one of the game's most pivotal positions.

Clady bounced back from a knee injury he suffered before the 2010 season to earn Pro Bowl recognition in 2011. He has spent his entire career with the Broncos since being selected out of Boise St. in the first round.

SB Nation Denver Mariners Vs. Rockies Score Update: Seattle Jumps Out To 5-0 Lead

The offensive struggles for the Colorado Rockies have continued in the second game of their series against the Seattle Mariners, as the Rockies trail 5-0 through five innings. This lack of production comes on the heels of a poor performance on Friday, when Kevin Millwood limited the Rockies to two hits and zero runs.

Christian Friedrich has struggled in the first home start of his career, allowing nine hits and five earned runs in five innings. However, he has received no support from his offense, with the Rockies being limited to just one hit so far.

Kyle Seager has led the Mariners offense through the first five innings. Seager has driven in three runs on three hits, including a two-run homer in the 5th inning. Jesus Montero and Jason Vargas have also driven in runs.

SB Nation Chicago Brent Morel Injury Update: DL A Possibility For Morel

The back pain for Brent Morel will continue to sideline him, as rookie 3B Eduardo Escobar will get the start again today. According to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, the back injury might be enough to send the struggling Morel to the DL:

Morel has struggled all season at 3B for the White Sox. He is hitting just .177 with five RBI's and no home runs. Morel has just 20 hits in 113 AB's this season. These struggles have been magnified over the past 10 games, with Morel hitting just 4/30. Unfortunately, Escobar hasn't been much better, recording just six hits in 35 AB's this season. The rookie has driven in just one run, but might have the opportunity to show more promise at the plate if Morel is sent to the DL.

SB Nation Chicago White Sox vs. Cubs Lineup: Konerko Not In Starting Lineup

After being hit with a pitch in the opening game of their series against the Chicago Cubs, Paul Konerko will not be in the starting lineup for the White Sox this evening. Konerko started this series with a bang, hitting a two-run homer in the opening inning to help lead the White Sox to a 3-2 win. However, he was hit with a pitch in the third inning, which gave this series an even higher level of intensity.

Ryan Dempster will be on the mound for the Cubs this evening in search of his first win of the season. Dempster has been outstanding this season, with an ERA of 1.74 in six starts. However, he has not received nearly enough run support. John Danks will start for the White Sox and he will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing performance in his last start. Danks allowed five earned runs in just three innings pitched in a no-decision against the Detroit Tigers.

SB Nation Chicago Bears Roster 2012: Tim Jennings Likely To Start

Despite bringing in some competition to compete for the starting spot opposite of Charles Tillman, it's beginning to look like Tim Jennings will enter the 2012 season as the starter. According to a story in the Chicago Tribune, Jennings is likely to emerge as the starter despite his benching at the end of last season:

Following the money, though, all signs point to Jennings, 28, being the starter opposite Charles Tillman, who is coming off his first Pro Bowl season.

"We have a good situation," Hoke said. "Tim played well for us last year. When you watched the tape, he did some good things. We'd like to have a couple more turnovers, and he knows that.

Jennings recorded 77 tackles and picked off two passes last season, which was just his second in Chicago. He has seven career interceptions in six seasons.

SB Nation Denver Jorge De La Rosa Injury Update: Rockies Recall Pitcher From Rehab Assignment

The return of Jorge De La Rosa to a shaky starting rotation is something the Colorado Rockies have been hoping for since his injury last season. However, after experiencing some stiffness in his forearm during a rehab start last week, these are certainly some nervous times for the organization. These worries only intensified today, as Thomas Harding of MLB.com revealed that De La Rosa has been recalled because of the forearm pain and will have a new rehab window:

@harding_at_mlb: have recalled LHP Jorge De La Rosa from rehab assignment because of left forearm tightness.

@harding_at_mlb: After 7 days, LHP Jorge De La Rosa will be placed back on the DL for firearm tightness and will get a new 30-day injury rehab window

@harding_at_mlb: Explanation: De La Rosa was not going to be ready when his rehab window for elbow surgery was set to 5/27, to return to Majors 6/2

De La Rosa began the 2011 season in strong fashion, jumping out to a 5-2 start. However, he was forced to undergo Tommy John surgery following an injury to his elbow. De La Rosa has been rehabbing with the hopes of returning to the Rockies rotation by this Summer.

SB Nation Denver Chris Kuper Injury: Elway Hopes To Have Kuper Back For Training Camp

Ever since his gruesome injury in Week 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs, Chris Kuper has been working to get back into playing shape. Given the severity of the ankle injury, there have been few public discussions about when Kuper might return to the field. However, the official website of the Broncos caught up with Kuper to discuss his rehabilitation since the injury, including a potential timetable for a return.

Originally told his recovery timetable ranged from four to six months, Kuper said that is "probably going to be right on par."

"He's been here, he's done everything we've asked, he's worked very hard, he's very diligent and he's working and getting better every day," Antonopulos said.

With the recovery currently on schedule and Kuper getting closer to return, John Elway even told season ticket holders that the injured guard could be good to go for training camp:

On a conference call with season ticket holders, Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway said he hopes Kuper will be ready to go once training camp starts at the end of July -- and he could be recovered as early as the middle of June.

The Slipper Still Fits Moving Forward

Hey All,

As you may have noticed the previous FanPost has been deleted. The main reason was not for asking for more content, but instead because it was turning into a pissing match and just wasn't really something we wanted to have on the site.

However, we have taken your words to heart and put together a posting schedule for the upcoming months before the season gets going. The main thing we have learned is that while we are putting out content on Twitter, we need to take that and turn it into stories for everyone to read on this site. It's a balance of social media and we understand what you guys want to see at this point.

Hopefully no one was taken aback by the previous FanPost, as at its premise, it was totally correct and great points were made. We look forward to continuing to be your No. 1 source for Gonzaga basketball and recruiting.

Thanks

Zach and Max
