Hey Party People,

We're nearing the end of a fruitless season, as far as Division or Wild Card crowns are concerned, but I'm sure many of you found it fruitful in terms of collecting A's merchandise. Well, as usual, some of us have an over-abundance of one thing or another and are in search of a trading partner (or partners) to make the ideal for the one (or six) items we just can't feel complete without. The same guidlines as previously apply: Post what you want and what you have for trade. I'll got first:

Wanted: A Dick Williams bobbblehead

               A Vida Blue jersey(XL)

               A Dave Stewart jersey(XL)

               An A's backpack(any)

               An A's blanket

                A Barry Zito Bobblehead

If anyone has a 4th of July Red, White and Blue Athletics jersey I will trade everything I have listed plus cash for it!

                A Nick Swisher RH Bobblehead.

To Trade: A Huston Street Jersey(XL)

                  A Frank Thomas jersey(L)

I have these bobbleheads to trade: Dan Haren, Milton Bradley, Frank Thomas, Reggie Jackson, Dennis Eckersley, Jason Kendall(no mask), Tim Hudson, Mike Piazza, Jermaine Dye and the first gold glove Chavy.

Let's make a deal!

DLD 1/9/08 - 50 Car Dump-up

Following the grand tradition of McFood authored DLD's, no baseball related links will be provided.

Katrina victims are making claims for damages they suffered. Three quadrillion is a nice, round number.

Fog and brushfire smoke blanketed a highway in Florida and a 50 car pileup resulted.

A cloned pig whose genes were altered to make it glow fluorescent green has passed on the trait to its young. If only those 50 cars in Florida had had one on board.

Mom sells son's car after finding booze in it. If only the moms of those 50 drivers in Florida had found booze in their cars.

Two men wheeled the corpse of a friend through the streets of New York in an office chair to a check cashing store to try and cash his social security check. Luckily, it didn't cause a 50 car pileup in Florida.

Hunter dies after being shot by his dog. The man had left a loaded shotgun in the back of his pickup truck and his dog stepped on the trigger, causing the gun to fire into the passenger compartment and cause a 50 car pileup in Florida.

University of Antarctica vies for the title of Best Party School in the World. Highlights include a groping Santa, a drunken car chase, a fistfight and 50 snowmobile pileups in Florida.

AN Day 4: AN'ers Gone Wild!

A very large "Thank you!" to Blez, BBG and the entire AN community for showing up and making AN Day 4 another fantastic experience. Once again, the best part of the whole thing, for me, is just getting to hang with familiar AN'ers and meeting LOTS of new ones. Clan McFood had a grand old time, and we got to watch a win too! The A's are now 3 for 4 on AN Days. An extra thanks goes to xbox for giving his BBQ voucher to one of my daughters, as we were unable to purchase extra ones on short notice. I never did get to buy you a beer, but I owe you one! The pics will tell a better story than I could, so peruse with your peepers, people:

This has nothing to do with AN Day, but I liked my daughter's cake, and it's my diary, so...

The Father, the Son, and The Holy Toledo!

AN'ERS ASSEMBLE!

Zonis, aka "Mr. Lucky"

Rickeyfan, front and center

Various AN'ers, please identify yourselves! Thanks!

MikeHeath, Sal, and Apricot all sporting the original AN ringer tee, except MikeHeath accented with a Holy Toledo patch. Sal, Apricot, you just got fashion PWNED!

Some like sun, some like shade, but nobody likes Sinead O'Connor

A sea of green, I love it!

Some people, with faces, and...stuff. Nico's hat still has that "new car" smell.

I'm digging Nick's old school A's cap in the lower left.

Melody, grover, Louis & Bear88. xbox practices his scowl in the background.

AlleninSF & Devo

Sal & McFood. You would think a college grad would know better than to fall for the old "pull my finger" trick, but you'd be wrong.

OH MY GOD! Poppy was standing right next to me when this pic was taken! But when I got home and downloaded the images... <cough>succubus<cough>

Devo & Brad, or Buzz...or something.

Robb, Ohad & friends, I think.

Melody tossing her cookies, GreenNGoldGirl rockin' the high socks, grover offering a rebuttal whilst monkeyball lurks behind.

Back Row: sslinger's SO, sslinger, ohtobe21likehuston(I think) Front Row: McFood, monkeyball O'Town stylin his $5 BART Bridge hat

Clan McFood

McFood & Ice Cream stage an impromptu gun show. Easy, ladies, they're taken. Or should that read, Easy Ladies, they're taken.

Hopey plays hide 'n seek with Mrs. McFood. Cuter than that is NOT possible.

The Midwest AN Travel Squad, in formation. Hmmm...we seem to be missing the queen bee.

Batgirl wins "Best of Show" in the cutest hat competition with a sparkly number. Who can resist sparkly things?

xbhaskarx, monkeyball's sun tan lotion covered elbow. Can you tell them apart?

AN rises to its feet with two outs in the ninth and the A's clinging to a one run lead!

Embree readies for the delivery!

We're on the verge of victory!

One more strike will do it!

The batter digs in!

Three outs, we win, and Nick trumpets out our victory cry!

Ok, I'm hella tired, so that's all folks!

With AN day coming up, this is the perfect opportunity to start another session of AN Trading Post. People can arrange their deals here and finish them at AN Day. And with 3 of the 4 bobbleheads of the season distributed, just a comment on the Mike Piazza bobblehead: As an attempt to alleviate the problem of the all-too-common Broken Bat Syndrome, the Piazza BH was designed with a detachable bat that is packaged along side the BH, the first time I've ever seen this done with a bobblehead. The bat has a tiny screw emebedded in the bottom with a matching nut glued into Piazza's top hand. Good idea, but precision is not a word I'd use to describe the workmanship of a bobblehead.

Ok, on the the Trading Post. For those of you who may not have seen this before, just list what you've got to trade and if there's something specific you're looking for. Here's mine:

2 Mike Piazza bobbleheads
1 Milton Bradley BH

Disgusting.

Screw you Joe Kennedy and Bobby Crosby, I hope you're both DFA'd today.

Kennedy is consistent in that when he enters the game, you KNOW the other team will keep scoring until he's taken out. I will turn off the game whenever he's used from now on.

Enough has been barfed about Crosby already, there are no new words.

I just hope that Lew and Billy learn that it isn't enough to take chances on oft injured players and marginal offensive ability guys who take a lot of pitches and draw walks, you need some damn HITTERS in the lineup who can drive the ball. What a difference a Thomas makes, eh? So, guys, if you're as committed as you say you are, then it's time to loosen up the purse strings and PAY for some talent. Being clever is great, but sometimes you need to do the obvious things, too.

GO GET US A HEALTHY MASHER, or I'll not be renewing my season tickets next year, along with probably thousands of other people.

I've had it. Pony up or piss off.

As mentioned in a recent DLD, the family and I drove to Jack London Square on Sunday to take the ferry to Telecomglomerate Park on Sunday to root on the East Bay Nine.

My first tip is that you should park in the above ground lot with the clock tower on Clay St., which is the closest lot to the dock, because you get a discount rate with validation. I learned that you buy your tickets AFTER you board the ferry, so we queued up with the green 'n gold 'n orange 'n black swirl of humanity around us to wait for the ferry. We got there about 11:00, and the ferry leaves at 11:30, so we had a chance to mock the Giants fans in line behind us, who were a bit disorganized, by telling them that the fans can't get it together off the field, just like the team can't get it together on the field. After we boarded I once again queued up to buy tickets and get a parking validation. The price is 11$ r/t for adults and $5.50 for kids. Not bad at all. We found seats on the top deck and took in the panoramic view of the estuary and bay. After a stop at Alameda for more passengers we headed for tangerine town. There is a gate right at the ferry landing so you can go right in. We saw the flag toter who was sporting the Athletics Nation hoodie on Friday night walk by and we gave him a yell and a thums up, then headed for our seats behind 3rd base. Brooms a'plenty were in evidence, sported by A's fans, natch, but nary a one piloted by Poppy.

After getting some food and drink we took our seats and began to enjoy the pitching duel. Is it DiNardo, or is it Memorex? Another great performance by our Lenny Come Lately. After a couple of innings the two seats behind became occupied by a couple of kindred spirits of FSU's, only these were Gnats fans. Alsa, they weren't on their best behavior, seeming to favor only a single adjective of the effing variety, so as I took the girls out for a slide through the Coke bottle, I asked the usher to check their tix the next time down. As luck would have it, when we returned, the profanity spewers had been banished to the cheap seats. Then Super Marco did his thang and the die was cast when Super Stew followed with some insurance. We headed back out to the dock for the return trip after Embree put the ixnay on Mr. OndsBay. I peaceful return voyage was enjoyed from inside seats, and after lining up once again to pay for parking, we were on our way homeward. An excellent day in all.

I did meet a fellow AN fan who was wearing the exact same AN ringer tee as I and was sitting nearby with his family. What's up, Jeremy! And a as we waited in line to board the ferry on the return trip a young lady high-fived me and said she loved an and read it all the time, but didn't post. What's up, Lurker Girl!

In summary, I urge you all to try the ferry the next time our boys go kick some mango and licorice ass!

WARNING! NO DUMPING! FLOWS DIRECTLY TO BARRY BONDS LOCKER!
