Welcome to Loud City UConn Big Man enters the draft

Hasheem_2006_07_20_medium

Although many people believe there is a conspiracy already in place to make Blake Griffin the Thunder's pick in the forthcoming draft (see previous hometown heroes Rose to Chicago, James to Cleveland), I am not ready to start getting my Griffin jersey made just yet.

Today UCONN center Hasheem Thabeet threw his hat in the ring for the 2009 NBA Draft.  The Thunder is greatly lacking in post presence and need someone there, who not only is a defensive force, but casts a shadow over opponents.

Averaging over 4 blocked shots per game, he's not a sucker for a pump fake.  His nearly 11 rebounds are comparable the loathable Tim Duncan.  However, he's not Tim Duncan, so that also makes him a good choice for Presti's remodeling of the Spurs in Blue and Orange.

Names like James Harden have floated around as a possible non-Griffin pick, but the Thunder are already becoming Guard heavy and need some more length out there!

The closer we get to this lackluster draft, the more I'm racking my brain hoping that piece of the puzzle is there.  If it's not, here's to off-season trades!
