Big Player Acquisition

How much does he have left in the tank? I wonder if Saybean will sign him to a 4 year deal after this year. I might consider doing this if it meant he wouldn't manage anymore. That outta be good for a few more wins.
Felipe Poll on ESPN
It's back! Early returns have placed him dead last in informal approval ratings. Vote to keep him there! Or not, if that's your cup of Metamucil. Discuss if you like. Maybe Magowan reads ESPN too...
Deadline Poll
The deadline's come and gone, and regardless of what side you're on, it looks like this is the team. With that in mind, what did you think of Saybean's wheeling and non-dealing? I know 3 and 4 are not mutually exclusive, but pick the one you feel most strongly about.
Schmidt again on market?
"The Giants told teams that ace Jason Schmidt would be available 10 days ago but changed course after their recent surge, according to two NL West GMs. Giants manager Felipe Alou says the team is talking to the Pirates about their relief pitchers."
Taken straight from http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/2006-07-28-deals-clubs-mental-makeup_x.htm.
One has to think this recent, um, not-hot streak would squarely put Schmidt back on the market? With really only one and a half more days to trade Schmidt (his no-trade clause kicks in on the 30th, so he could refuse for personal reasons etc.) what should Saybean do?
Most Hated Giant?
Heard this on the Murph and Mac show. Thought I would throw up a poll of the guys, limiting it to the last "era", the Saybean era if you will allow. If you have someone else throw 'em up there as well.
I had a nightmare
At least I think it was. I was inbetween conscious states when I heard on the radio the Giants were rumored to be close to dealing for Soloman Torres.
Please tell me this was a nightmare.
Shop Schmidt
I hope that Saybean is at least listening to offers for Schmidt. Given this trade market and whats out there in terms of pitching, a guy like Schimdt could bring back someone's entire farm system.
As much as I love Schmiddy and what he's done for the Giants, he is not worth $14-15 mil a year, which he will most certainly cost. No pitcher is. Schmidt could fill a LOT of our holes in a trade, not only this season but for the next few. I don't think it's unrealistic to get a decent 1st baseman, a 4th starter-quality replacement guy, and possibly 2 real talented major league ready guys. We'd be both competitive this year in a weak west and have some pieces for next year. If Saybean really is refusing to consider trading Schmidt then he is as dumb as I think he is. And that's filthy dumb.
Vote for Fleepy
http://proxy.espn.go.com/mlb/sportsnation/ratings
Let em know how much Old Man Alou really does suck at ESPN! Perhaps then we can print out the results and send them to Saybean. Unfortunately he'll probably need someone to translate it for him, as it seems he has a hard time deciphering what numbers mean.
Boof
Tossing a shutout into the 7th. Granted, against the Cubs, but still...
Sabes, call do over on that one.
Astros-Twins game
Watching Liriano pitch, and ESPN puts up a graphic on the Nathan/Liriano/Bonser for A.J. deal. They proceed to laugh their asses off.
Ugh.
