Will Baron Opt Out Now?
Anyone think the fact that we traded away our 2nd scoring option to free cap space and acquire a big shows that we're in rebuilding mode? Obviously it's been made clear that the future is Monta, AB, and now Wright and the mentality is win in 3 years rather than now, which is why KG is not a Warrior. I think Baron will definately leave next year for the Lakers(if Kobe's still there) or Clippers since he's from LA. I just can't see us being any better next year with a lineup of:
Baron
Monta
Jackson
Harrington
Biedrins
Bench:
Belinelli, Wright, Barnes, Azubuike
Won't play much:
Foyle, Lasme, Cabbages, POB
I know the system is great for Baron, but remember what happened in NO when they decided to go down that rebuilding road and him and Byron Scott hated each other. It's no secret he wants to get paid, and I'm pretty sure that extra money we have now is going to be used for Monta and AB rather than Baron's ailing knees. I see Monta getting a 4 year deal worth 5-7 mil and AB the same if not more. Barnes will get the MLE and Azubuike probably a 1 year contract for a mil at most. I really don't see Baron keeping his contract for th e next 2 seasons when we extend other contracts rather than his this summer. What do you guys think?
Stromile Swift
Warriors get:
Stromile Swift
Memphis gets:
Pietrus(sign and trade)
Sarunas
All the mock drafts point to the Grizzlies taking another big man in the draft, most likely because Conley is expected to be taken by the Hawks. This means that the Grizzlies will be stacked with 3/4 tweeners and 4s if they draft Horford or Brandon Wright.
I tried to think of a possible trade situation that would allow the Warriors to move up in the draft at 10 or 11, but couldn't think of any way that we would be able to swap picks with them.
If we made this aquisition, here are the benefits I see:
- We have a big men that can run the break and finish on ally-oops besides Biedrins.
- We assess our rebounding and weak side defending issue with Swift's athleticism.
- We can then draft a swingman or BPA rather than getting a big guy.
Monta Ellis Comparisons
My friends all think Monta is the next Allen Iverson, but I think he's more like a Tony Parker with hops. Either way, I don't think we should trade this kid no matter what, and make sure that we do not sign MP3 or Barnes, because we will need a lot more cap space for next year when he becomes a FA. He's only 21, and the sky is the limit for this guy. I can see him eventually developing into a PG within the next 2 years, and we need to extend his contract, or else he's gone like Arenas.
How much would it cost to buyout Foyle's contract?
