Theres something about the Rays trash can that makes me believe this could work (see Pat the Bat). Hey, couldn't be worse than Tejada. He has started over 600 games at SS, so that would not be an issue. Plus, he wouldn't cost as much as Reyes. I say go for it.

McCovey Chronicles Now that Nick Johnson is signed...

Work with me on this one. Please.

The Giants have been linked to Johnson since the beginning of rosterbation season and offered him more money than the Yanks. But apparently he would rather win a championship than play in our hood. FIIINE. But we move on. I really thought signing Johnson was part of Sabean's "masterplan" for the offseason, along with snagging DeRosa and/or trading for Uggla. Now that Johnson is out of the picture, these are the names that have been rumored to be the mouth-watering options to beef up our "line-up":

  1. Mark DeRosa (LF/utility)
  2. Adam LaRoche (1B)
  3. Adrain Adrian Beltre ($$$)
  4. Dan Uggla (via trade)
  5. Lyle Overbay (via trade)
  6. Scott Pod...s...

I know this is not ALL of the names that are out there. I mean, if theres one thing I have learned, its expect the worst from Sabean. Why hasn't there been any talk about Orlando Hudson

I really, really, really hope that not signing Nick Johnson as well as staying VERY quiet this offseason is all part of Sabean's "masterplan" to swoop on Matt Holliday and call it a day. I can only hope, though.

Chances that Holliday will end up here...somehow?
