"I just thought I'd make a change.''

"Fes has got to learn to be little bit more accountable for being late a time or two, and some of those things,'' Sloan said. "You know, if he's gonna play in this league and doesn't like what we do, that's fine. I don't have a problem with that.

"But if he's gonna stay involved and try to understand what's going on — he's got talent, but it's important for him to stay focused on what we're trying to do and not be jackpotting around.''

"And he's a young guy. It's like he already has the answers as to what's going on out there. And I haven't always seen that in practice, and some of his workouts. He'll tell you he works hard, but I've seen guys work hard. I'm not totally blind.''

Asked further if the decision was disciplinary, then, Sloan responded accordingly, and took only breath while doing so:

"No, not disciplinary. People will probably call it that, or (suggest) I'm trying to be a hard-nosed guy. I'm not a hard-nosed guy with these guys. I just hope that he learns. We've tried to tell him. I don't fine him money. If I wanted to be a disciplinarian, I would take his money. I'm not interested in money. I'm interested in the kid getting better. We've got a lot invested in him. A lot of time. A lot of effort. Our coaches work with him. You know, take advantage of it rather than let it slip through your fingers when it's there. And obviously a lot of people haven't agreed with my substitutions and all those things. But I think we can say that we want guys to succeed, and we've got a lot of people succeed that weren't expected to because they worked hard. We're not trying to hurt him in any way.''

Section VIII-Defensive Three-Second Rule
a. The count starts when the offensive team is in control of the ball in the front-court.
b. Any defensive player, who is positioned in the 16-foot lane or the area extending 4 feet past the lane endline, must be actively guarding an opponent within three seconds. Actively guarding means being within arms length of an offensive player and in a guarding position.
c. Any defensive player may play any offensive player. The defenders may double-team any player.
d. The defensive three-second count is suspended when: (1) there is a field goal attempt, (2) there is a loss of team control, (3) the defender is actively guarding an opponent or (4) the defender completely clears the 16-foot lane.
e. If the defender is guarding the player with the ball, he may be located in the 16-foot lane. This defender is not required to be in an actively guarding/arms dis-tance position. If another defender actively guards the player with the ball, the original defender must actively guard an opponent or exit the 16-foot lane. Once the offensive player passes the ball, the defender must actively guard an opponent or exit the 16-foot lane.
PENALTY: A technical foul shall be assessed. The offensive team retains pos-session at the free throw line extended. The shot clock shall remain the same as when play was interrupted or reset to 14 seconds, whichever is greater.

Our dear Kirilenko weighs 110 pounds! The result is not bad, considering that he finished the season on 98! However, the percentage of fat, still at 3 percent, which, according to nutritionists, is not enough.

RSL's 7-1-4 home record is tied for second best in MLS, but its 1-8-2 road record is one of the worst.

"I had knee surgery last year, came back and fully recovered, had a really good individual playoff run, but my team fell short as we lost to the Lakers," Boozer said. "But I'm feeling 100 percent healthy, feeling great. We're down here in Miami and getting ready for a great upcoming season."

Sounds like Memo is opting out?
"My family and I love Salt Lake City. As they say it is a perfect place to raise a family. From our neighbors, to the people of Salt Lake City, to my teammates, to the staff to the Miller family we alwasy saw love and felt warmness. Salt Lake City is our second home. However NBA is a business. I know this and my family has learned this. In the end some of the decisions made will be business decisions first. As Mehmet Okur I am ready to make some sacrifices to stay here. I will not be changing teams if there is a difference of $ 3-5 million in the total worth of the new contract. I belive my managers and I have let our feelings be known by the Jazz management. Whatever is in the best interest of the Jazz and my family and I let that happen."

Does this mean that we will be softer than ever? Maybe we will see THE KOOF or Fes? Hmm...

Have any of you guys entered this?

I entered for the first time this week and...I won! Tickets to tonight's game - not sure how good the seats are yet but I will let you know.

Anyway it begs the question - if I won on the first try are there many people who actually enter this thing? I can tell you right now that it is not in my nature to be lucky (at all). It is a weekly drawing so maybe the number of entries died off after only a couple weeks.

Good luck!

My guess is that his reception in the ESA will be much like Kobe's - cheers mixed with boos...

SLC Dunk Ref Stats

I find that most Jazz fans on this blog tend to complain about the refs very little (compared to how much I do anyway).  This is probably a good thing - nobody likes the guy who blames every loss on the refs (not that I do - but my wife probably thinks I do based on how aggravated I get over the pathetic reffing jobs I've witnessed).

Anyway - I think there should be an official "+/-" stat for the refs.  By this I mean: for a given ref and a given team, what is the average +/- for the team while that ref is calling the game?  Then we can compare that to the team's overall average +/- and see which ref a team loves to get for a game.

I realize that the data is all out there and maybe even compiled?  But I'm just too lazy to find it or put it all together.  Still, I think it would be interesting to see these trends - especially over the entire career for the ref.  I realize that there are many factors involved so the stats for one season may not be a telling indication, but over a ref's entire career it may uncover some interesting things...
