Earlier in the month you did a game post with backwards text and alt colors in an attempt to chance the Cubs luck and it worked. Let's try it agian, we need all the luck we can get. If someone already suggested I'm sorry, I haven't had time to read threw all the fan post and comments.

The BCB postseason drinking game

OK, so a good drinking game is always fun, so let’s do a drinking game for the Cubs playoff games. I’ll start off with a few rules and everyone can feel free to add as many as you like.

Every time the “curse” of the Billy goat is mentioned take a drink
Every time 1908 is mentioned take a drink
Every time that poor fan that didn’t do anything different then any other fan would have done is mentioned take a drink
Every time they show footage of Alou attempted catch and said fan take two drinks
Every time they show the black cat at Shea take two drinks.
Every time they show the ball going between Leon Durham’s legs take a drink.
Every time they show a graph or timeline of how things have changed since 1908 take three drinks.

I say this in jest because if you follow these rules you’d be drunk before game started and I want to be sober to enjoy this Cubtober. I know we are all going to be sick of hearing the same crap from TBS & Fox so lets at least have some fun with it and make the best out of it. I know I will be drinking when it’s all over, either to celebrate or drown my sorrows.

Last week my girlfriend and I were at Wrigley (her first time there), we sat in the upper deck along the right field side. We had a perfect view of the flags flying on top of the Wrigley that list the years the Cubs have won something. She asked me “If the Cubs win the World Series are they just going to put up a tiny flag up there?” I didn’t really have an answer, but I said probably not. I would think they would put up a large flag somewhere in the park, maybe below the American flag on the scoreboard or with the retired numbers on the foul poles.

Does anyone know if there is an official plan of how to commemorate the glorious event if/when it happens? I know some people are going think we are getting way to ahead of ourselves, but this is a question that could be asked during a last place season. I was just wondering.

41 games left, the glass is half full

It seems to me the brewers don’t look like they are going to lose many games and with 41 games left in the season and the Cubs lead back to 4.5 games (5 in the lose column) I figured, just in case anyone is worried, it would be a good time to look at some numbers.

If the Cubs play .500 baseball the rest of the way (20-21) they would end up with 94 victories. Second highest in the post WWII era behind only the 1984 team. If that happened the brewers would have to go 24-16 to tie us for division lead. That would be playing .600 the rest of the way. The cardinals would have to go 26-12 the rest of the way to tie us, that’s .684 the rest of the way. If the Cubs play at their current pace they will be 25-16 the rest of the way and finish 99-63. The brewers would have to go 29-11 to tie us for the division lead. That is a .725 winning percentage. The cardinals would have to go 31-7 to catch us and that’s .816 winning percentage.

Here is how we have to go to match certain win totals

To reach 85 wins (last years win totals) we only need to go 11-30

To reach 90 wins we only need to go 16-25

To reach 95 wins we only need to go 21-20

To reach 100 wins we need to go 26-15

Lets also not forget that in our last 10 games against the brewers and cardinals we are 8-2 including 6-1 on the road.

I know the brew crew has been red hot, but so have we. I think it will very difficult for them to catch us especially if we keep play well on the road.
