Freeney Injury
I'm surprised I haven't seen much discussion regarding Freeney's injury. It appears to have worsened over the weeks. He's been dragging that right leg quite a bit. I don't think his gait has been right since the Cardinal game.
Where would an additional injury kill us most?
Where would an additional injury (injuries) kill us the most? Let's assume Hayden and Sanders are back, which they are. Let's assume Charlie Johnson is back, which seems fairly likely. Let's eliminate the obvious two first choices, Peyton Manning and Dwight Freeney. By the way, did you see the interview with Gruden where he was asked, "If you could pick one defensive player to start your team with, who would it be?" Answer: Dwight Freeney.
Here's the link- start watching at about 6:50 if you want to skip to it.
The Tale of the Johnson Jersey
I played line in my younger years; therefore, have an affinity to linemen on both sides of the ball. Last August, as I was keeping tabs on the Colts training camp, I made the prediction to a friend at work that Ed Johnson would eventually go to a Pro Bowl. I thought, "this guy's going to be on the team a long time, I should buy his jersey."
Certainly and Obviously
I love the Colts. I love Peyton Manning. I believe in Jim Caldwell. But for God's sake can Peyton and Coach please cut back on the use of the words "certainly" and "obviously".
Colts Camp on Sirius NFL Radio Today
From noon to 3 pm. Jim Miller and Soloman "Colts lost to the Chargers three times in a row" Wilcots. I'll try and record it and summarize the interviews. If I recall from prior years, they usually interview Polian and 6-10 players and perhaps Irsay. Manning almost always does a spot and Jim Miller's a pretty good interviewer of QB's.
Miller will give a good assessment of what he sees. He just came from the Bears and Ram camps, so should be able to do some fair comparisons.
I am not a huge Wilcots fan but he did play defensive back and is pretty good when he sticks to assessing the DB's. Hopefully he sticks to looking at the Defense and does a good job of reporting rather than making big sweeping statements about the direction of the organization, etc.
