Podium Cafe LeMond's Prediction for Armstrong

Over at Cycling News, Greg LeMond has an article about peaking for the Tour de France. At the end of the article he offers the following prediction:

My Lance Armstrong prediction? Either he will not start or he will pull out just before the race enters France. I have a feeling that the world of cycling is about to change for the better.

This seems like a strange prediction to me given the Lance quotes about how excited he is for a great three weeks. Your thoughts?

Podium Cafe Alert: VDS Site SNAFU

Looks like the top 20 on the scoreboard have received some type of double-super-secret bonus points. They all have a score of 4294967295. Which is a lot! Even the teams with Contador cannot possibly hope to catch up. Who has the customer service number for the VDS site?  ;- )

Podium Cafe Phillipe Gilbert's father involved in an accident at Tour de Wallonie

I didn't see Phillipe Gilbert in the final results for the Tour de Wallonie and did some digging around to see why he did not finish the race. It seems that his father and nephew were making a U-turn in their car and got into an accident with a motorcycle policeman who was on his way to direct traffic at the race. The police officer was transported by helicopter to a hospital where he later died. Gilbert's father and nephew also appear to have received some medical treatment, but it sounds like they are OK (physically).

Source (a Google translated link)

Phillipe's web site has a message of condolence for the officer.

Podium Cafe Why Not Me? Luis Leon Sanchez

After his victory this year at Paris-Nice, the buzz about Lulu as a future Grand Tour winner and the heir to Indurain grew louder than ever. Is the future now?

Why he will win

He beat Bert. Prior to Paris-Nice, Contador expressed his interest in winning the race, but Lulu put the hammer down on Stage 7 and took almost 3 minutes out of a bonking Bert. HWWNBN twittered about Bert: "Amazing talent but still a lot to learn."

Valverde is out of the picture. Lulu was expecting to work for Valverde at the Tour, but now his path to leadership and victory is wide open.

Why he will not win

How long is this Tour de France thingy? Three weeks! Can Lulu ride consistently for the entire Tour? I don't think so.

Conclusion

Top ten would be a nice result for Lulu.
