Saints' Jairus Byrd has back surgery to fix disc issue

Oh well, saves us the aggravation of worrying that we would have endured had he been with the Bills.

Casserly claims EJ Manuel would be the No. 8 QB in this draft class

Casserly claims EJ Manuel would be the No. 8 QB in this draft class Last year, EJ Manuel was the top quarterback in the NFL draft, and the only one to go off the board in the first round, taken No. 16 overall by the Bills. This year, one former NFL general manager says Manuel would be way, way down the list. Former Houston and Washington General Manager Charley Casserly says this year’s draft class has at least seven quarterbacks who are better prospects than Manuel: Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater, Central Florida’s Blake Bortles, Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel, Fresno State’s Derek Carr, Eastern Illinois’s Jimmy Garoppolo, Alabama’s A.J. McCarron and LSU’s Zach Mettenberger. "I’ve got a lot of guys rated ahead of him based on their college career and based on Manuel’s college career," Casserly said, via Tim Graham of the Buffalo News. "Bridgewater, Bortles, Manziel, Carr, Garoppolo and McCarron. I’ve got them all rated ahead of EJ Manuel, coming out a year ago. And you know what? LSU quarterback Mettenberger. I’ve got him ahead of Manuel, too." It’s fair to point out, as some of Graham’s readers did on Twitter, that Casserly didn’t have a great track record of identifying quarterback talent during his days as a general manager: Casserly took David Carr first overall in 2002 and Heath Shuler third overall in 1994. But it’s also fair to point out, as I did on Twitter, that just because a G.M. has made a couple of bad picks in the past, that doesn’t mean he lacks knowledge about the draft evaluation process. So, while Manuel still has plenty of time to prove he has what it takes to be a great NFL quarterback, count Casserly’s opinion as one that says this year’s draft contains a much better group of quarterbacks than last year’s. And that the teams drafting quarterbacks in the early rounds this year will end up with better players than the Bills got in Manuel.

Dan Kadar's '2014 NFL mock draft: A quarterback bonanza', Bills draft Khalil Mack

First mock draft I've noticed, the Bills are presently slotted at 9th and he has us drafting the Bulls Kahlil Mack, here's his take: "9. Buffalo Bills: Khalil Mack, OLB, Buffalo: Mack carries a lot of value because of his versatility. He's capable of being a three-down linebacker because he can drop in coverage, play the run and certainly blitz. He can even play with his hand in the dirt on occasion. The Bills have done a nice job of adding talent to their defense and Mack would help round out that side of the ball. If it's not a player like Mack, a tight end like Texas Tech's Jace Amaro or wide receiver like Texas A&M's Mike Evans should get some attention from Buffalo as well."

AFC teams vying for wild-card spot

Here's Adam schein of NFL's website's take on the Race for a wild card spot, here's his short paragraph regarding the Bills: "And then there are the Buffalo Bills. Really. Buffalo is two games behind New York in the wild-card race at 3-6. On Sunday, the Bills were in prime position to hand the Chiefs their first loss of the season -- if only backup quarterback Jeff Tuel hadn't been under the impression that Kansas City cornerback Sean Smith played for the Bills. Fortunately, injured starter EJ Manuel was fully cleared to return Monday. The Bills' schedule going forward is worth noting. They visit the reeling Steelers in Pittsburgh, then take on the Jets in Buffalo. After a Week 12 bye, Buffalo hosts the wingless Falcons before heading on a two-game road trip to play the dead-in-the-water Bucs and that collection of guys masquerading as an NFL team in Jacksonville. Buffalo finishes with a homer against Dolphins and a roadie versus the Pats. With a dominant defensive line, a healthy C.J. Spiller and three tissue-paper-soft games, could the Bills make things sticky? I think so."

Grading the NFL's Rookie Coaches, Doug Marrone rated #1

Shamelessly taken from the Bills website, and Chris Brown's short blurbs. Didn't see it on the links page, and frankly, I'll take any kudos for the Bills organization right now.

Open letter to Bills Nation from Rian Lindell

The guy is just a 'class act', I truly hope he continues to succeed with whoever is the smartest to sign him.

Bamiro dodged draft by accident

This guy seems like he has the size, 6-foot-8, 335-pounds and the ability, albeit very raw at this stage. Might be an interesting free agent pickup to stash on the practice squad. Could turn out to be a 'diamond in the rough' kind of player.

EJ Manuel third in line for snaps at Buffalo Bills OTAs

I don't usually post the obvious, stuff we're all aware of when reading Rumblings. The last half of the sentence in his last comment bugged me. "barring a surprise winning record under new coach Doug Marrone." I expect a winning record. This time of year you would have to, otherwise why follow the Bills so closely.

We are number ONE

I guess it is good to be number one in something... NFL's Five Worst Weather Cities

Can the record for interceptions and sacks ever be broken?

Just thought I'd throw out my thoughts regarding this.

Fitz’s wheels getting respect

I thought the comment at the end of the blurb was great.

Are the Bills no longer sleepers?

Amazing the amount of comments this is receiving, most comments I've ever read on a James Walker post. And it's like the energizer bunny, it just keeps going and going...

Justin Blackmon arrested in Oklahoma on DUI charge

Buddy is probably happy he didn't fall, I don't think he was his kind of player..
