The season has begun, and thus, quantifiable results in comparing the parts of a significant trade completed over the offseason between the Bobbies and Hornets. Below, we'll keep track of the performances of centers Tyson Chandler and Emeka Okafor.

Through 12/20: Okafor-26 G, 29.7 MPG, 11.0 PPG (.537 FG%), 9.8 RPG, 1.9 BPG, 1.4 TOPG, 2.8 PF/G

11/19: With a surprisingly healthy start to the season by both players (at least in terms of being able to suit up and play), we've now seen the first injury-related absence in the pair. I'll track those below, since they're not entirely within the player's control and will effect these numbers.

11/18: Chandler sits out the second half of a game with a lower back injury, limiting him to 15 minutes.

11/20-11/22: Chandler misses two games with back injury.

ESPN's John Hollinger points out that the timing for the Bulls to make a coaching change seems to be perfect, with a combination of a season-long block of six home games, and some days off in between for the new coach to implement any changes during practice. And when you add in the fact that they have a guy with 14 years of head coaching experience currently serving as an assistant who could step in for Del Negro in Bernie Bickerstaff, the question likely becomes not "if," but "when" the change [from Vinny Del Negro] will be made.

So it seems our old buddy Bernie Bickerstaff might just have finally have found himself a soft landing spot. I'm still pretty bitter on his behalf about the way he was unceremoniously dismissed from the organization because he wasn't one of Michael Jordan's buddies, so this could be a much better way to end things in his NBA career.

Alexis Ajinca is getting playing time with the Maine Red Claws of the development league, but he's still not making shots: 3-of-13 in his first two games.

I find that striking that a 7-footer would struggle that much to score against D-League big man.

Almost every night Ajinca should have a significant height advantage.

That's precisely what Celtics coach Doc Rivers saw, scouting the Bobcats before and after this trade. Before Jackson, Rivers said, the Bobcats were the only team in the league you could afford to defend in a straight zone, every player with one foot in the paint.

Now, Rivers said, Jackson demands "one and probably two more (sets of) eyes. And that makes you a better basketball team just by his presence."

Pacers forward Danny Granger out 4-6 weeks with torn right plantar fascia

Disappointing for Indy, with the way they started the season so well. (A reasonably healthy) Mike Dunleavy and Brandon Rush are good players in their own right, but that's a lot of slack to pick up. So there's another obstacle likely out of the way for a potential Bobcats playoff run to the 6-7-8 seed. Now whether that's a good or a bad thing for this franchise long-term is debatable, but for this time, I'll just report the facts.

Interesting that Bell now feels this way. I thought he was pretty committed to playing the season out if he had stayed in Charlotte, but I guess he's tried it and things haven't gotten much better.
