Again, you’re looking for indisputable visual evidence to overturn a call on the field. As you look at play after play after play, you would assume that he stepped on the line. That’s the uniqueness of this call. I think it speaks volumes about the uniqueness of our replay system. There’s things that come up all the time. I can see, when the referee came to me after the series was over and said he clearly stepped out. I said, ‘Well his heel wasn’t down.’ He says, ‘He was out of bounds, the shot shows he was out of bounds.’ I said, ‘The heel wasn’t down.’ He said, ‘We can discuss this all day long.’ I don’t know if you saw the Colts game yesterday, but the replay challenge right before half on the fumble, that’s what replay is there for, to sort those things out.

At this point, yeah I think we will. The roster is still, there’s some uncertainty on the roster with Dave (Stewart). We’ll have to see how Dave comes on this week and how Mike Otto comes on this week.

(on Leroy Harris’ affect on the game plan)

We did not make any changes from the time Dave (Stewart) injured his hamstring to the time we kicked off. We stuck with our offensive game plan which I think speaks volumes of what Leroy’s able to do.

(on it not being an easy position for Leroy Harris to step into)

No, I know it. That’s a very difficult thing to do, especially in the National Football League when you’re going up against a good defense like this. That’s why I said after the game and I’ll repeat myself again, that was a tremendous effort by Leroy, by Munch (Mike Munchak) and by the offense, the tight ends to get him ready to play as well as he played in the short period of time.

(on Chris Johnson’s touchdown run on fourth down)

There was an adjustment, goal line defensive adjustment on the fourth and goal. We had that play in the game plan that I thought would have walked, but they made the adjustment. When we saw two guys on the outside edge, there was some concern. C.J. just makes them miss. That’s what happens. Sometimes players need to make plays. Sometimes you can’t do everything, draw it all up perfectly and guess right all the time as coaches. Sometimes they just have to make plays. That’s what’s been happening the last couple of weeks: Justin’s (Gage) catch, both catches by Justin Gage were huge catches in this game, balls that are being tipped, Jacob Ford’s rush that caused the ball to come out empty handed and things like that. Those are the bounces that we didn’t get that we’re getting right now. Players are making plays.

He was consistent. He did exactly what we expected him to do in this ball game. He managed the line of scrimmage. He made his adjustments and his checks. He used his legs. He grasped new concepts that we put in with enthusiasm and he gave players a chance to make plays with the football.

(on Mike Heimerdinger’s play calling)

We’ve had these things in, but now we have the opportunity to call them. We called a halfback pass on the goal line. There’s a lot more for people to defend now which will hopefully give us some opportunities.

He’s really sore. It’s like he fell off a ladder. That was a great catch, but he’s sore. We’re going to do some tests to make sure he’s ok.

OtF Play of the Week (10/25-10/31)

I guess I can handle 6 points out of a possible 6 points. I got my wish for both the Titans and Predators. They both gave me plenty of highlights to choose from this week. I definitely wouldn't mind having this problem every week.

Here's last weeks winner.

A. (Predators @ Wild 10/28) Jerred Smithson's goal at 10:44 in the 3rd. These moves came out of nowhere. And for the game-winning SH goal?! Smithson has come up huge in the past few weeks. (True fact: Jerred Smithson taught Alex Ovechkin his legendary toe drag)

B. (Blackhawks @ Predators 10/29) Joel Ward's goal at 14:53 in the 2nd ( Francis Bouillon, J.P. Dumont). Ward can thank Bouillon for sliding this perfect pass right where he could just tip it in. Ward did do a nice job finding a way to sit alone in front of the net.

C. (Stars @ Predators 10/31) Steve Sullivan's goal at 3:17 in the 3rd ( J.P. Dumont, Dan Hamhuis). The whole team did a really nice job of battling back all night. Sully got the wrist shot in the tiny crease. Dumont, and it seems like I've been saying this all year, directed the puck to the open man to get the score.

D. (Stars @ Predators 10/31) Patric Hornqvist's goal at 10:59 in the 3rd ( David Legwand, Dan Hamhuis). Nobody on this team deserves this goal more than Hornqvist. This line seemed like it was out on the ice for 10 minutes and finally got rewarded for their effort. Question: Is Patric Hornqvist this season's MVP so far. If not, who?

Hopefully we'll be able to get something done this week without Shea Weber. This will be a big test for these young defensemen.

MCM Play of the Week (Week 8)

So far this year, I've had few plays to choose from each game, and usually end up putting an average play in there to round out the 4 spots. Since there were so many good plays this week, I'm just putting all of them in there! And I wouldn't mind doing it the next 9 weeks, either!

Your first winning edition of POW after the jump!

A. Roderick Hood intercepts David Garrard. Welcome to the Tennessee Titans, Hood! Even if Torry Holt wouldn't have run into the official, I think Hood still gets this pick. Hopefully this guy keeps performing like this and knocks Harper out of that starter spot. Also, William Hayes absolutely leveled Maurice Jones-Drew at 0:09.

B. Chris Johnson runs for a 52-yard TD. This play was only so-so because he kept his lunch. Although CJ was ridiculous in this game, you have to give the credit on this run to the blocking. Ahmard Hall got the first guy and the O-line and WRs set up a HUGE running lane. (Update: Apparently, he didn't actually throw up after the play. Maybe I should have read first. I'm keeping all of this here though because it just makes the play more BA)

C. Chris Johnson runs for an 89-yard TD. Now this is real run! CJ was patient, waited for a little crease, ran over 2 guys, busted it for 89 yards, and then puked all over the endzone. You can literally say that he left it all on the field. Anyboy else notice how freaking fast Kenny Britt looked running downfield, and getting the final block? Seems to be a common occurance on Johnson's long runs. Coincidence? (Update: Apparently, he didn't actually throw up after the play. Maybe I should have read first. I'm keeping all of this here though because it just makes the play more BA)

D. Cortland Finnegan intercepts David Garrard. Man, it's good to have him back. It's nice to see 2 aggressive corners out there. This was basically a freebie for Cort, but he earned it with his play the rest of the game.

E. Vince Young's collective plays. VY didn't really do anything spectacular, but it sure seemed like he came up big when we needed him to. He converted 4 or 5 really important 3rd downs on my count (which is definitely not an official stat and could be completely wrong). The pass to Nate Washington at 0:32 looked like his 3rd or 4th progression. The TD pass to Washington at 1:05 was right where that kind of pass needs to be. The pass to Britt at 2:13 was why we drafted him. He did everything that was asked of him in this game. His passes were right where they needed to be for the WRs to make an easy catch. I'm still not convinced on Young, because this is only 1 game, but I sure do have hope for him now.

F. The V formation. BAM!

P.S.: I was really proud to see the fan support at this game. I guarantee you won't see that in about 25 other teams' stadiums when they are 0-6. i'm really glad I was there to watch it (and really pumped about the free T-Rac giveaway!).

First off, here's the official announcement by Fisher and other info on this Sunday's game. But don't worry, he's still in Kerry Collins' corner.

VY gives his opinion how he thinks VY is going to handle this situation. He also talks about things, and things like dat.

KFC talks about his new country song he wrote this morning. You have to feel sorry for him, being that he probably is done in the NFL, and it really wasn't his own undoing. (He did nothing to help his case, though)

Chris Johnson gives his view. He may not sound intelligent or sober, but he always says the right things and is a lot more media savvy than I expected him to be after his rookie season. By the way, this guy is still 5th in the league in rushing yards when this team has had to give up on the run and pass in half of their games.

Keith Bulluck doesn't sound too conVINCEd (see what I did there?) that VY is the man.

Vince's former UH Cougars teammate, Bo Scaife, seems super excited to see Vince throw the ball behind him.

Justin Gage says he's committed to giving VY's growth by doing his best impression of Justin McStonehands.

On a more serious note, as a Titans fan, I really do hope that he goes out there and proves me wrong, and datboybevans right. This franchise really needs something like that right now (and plus I would really like it if VY helped me out on the Play of the Week segment, as the last few weeks have been rough). If you think it's bad now, just wait until next March when we're all wondering where half the team all of sudden disappeared to. We're most likely going to be looking at a completely different Titans team next season, so just sit back and enjoy the rest of the season, as ridiculous as it might get.

OtF Play of the Week (10/18-10/24)

Well, the last few weeks haven't been very uplifting for Tennessee sports fans. The win in Ottawa was a nice change of pace. At least he young guys are getting some good playing experience. Two of them cash in for their first goals in the NHL in the highlights below! Hopefully they can add on to that in the three games this week.

B. (Predators @ Capitals 10/17) Shea Weber's goal at 14:29 in the 2nd ( Patric Hornqvist, Marcel Goc). Finally! It's about time the big man got his goal. Nice laser shot right by Semyon Varlamov. This gave the team some energy after another depressing 1st period.

A. (Predators @ Bruins 10/21) Jerred Smithson's goal at 5:55 in the 1st ( David Legwand, Cody Franson). What?!?! Is that David Legwand I see picking up a point? Seriously, though. We need to see a whole lot more of this kind of play from this guy and some other people on this team, *cough cough MARTIN ERAT cough cough*. Smithson did a nice job of grabbing the loose puck and putting it into the net.

B. (Predators @ Bruins 10/21) Colin Wilson's goal at 6:17 in the 2nd ( Patric Hornqvist). This was Wilson's first (and hopefully the first of many for this franchise) goal in the NHL. Welcome to the big show rook! He took the puck away from the Bruins in their zone and raced down to finish up Hornqvist's shot on goal. Hornqvist, by the way, is tied with J.P. Dumont for the most points on the team. The big reason is because he shoots the puck when he gets an open shot.

C. (Predators @ Senators 10/22) Cody Franson's goal at 8:09 in the 1st ( J.P. Dumont). Another first goal for a Preds player! This play was all created by Dumont, though. J.P. stepped up big time in this game with the captain out.

D. (Predators @ Senators 10/22) Shea Weber's goal at 2:11 in OT ( Ryan Suter, J.P. Dumont). What?!?! A PP goal? He didn't get as much of the puck as he would have liked, but he got enough to end this wild game.

MCM Play of the Week (Week 7) (Bye Edition)

The Titans didn't do too bad today considering that BYE was favored by 2 TDs.These videos are the ones with the most votes so far all season. Granted, I could pile up all of the highlights I've used so far this year and get a video for 1 week for some teams.

A. Michael Griffin's forced fumble in Week 1.

Last, we have have Michael Griffin's forced fumble on Hines Ward. I'm sure everybody else was thinking the same thing I was when it happened:"Sh**, F$$$, Dammit!!!!!!1111!!!............................ OH GOD YES!" If the Titans could have found a way to win in overtime this play would have been even bigger.

B. Chris Johnson's 91-yard TD run in Week 2.

And finally we have the ~~game-winning~~ 91-yard TD run by Chris Johnson on another draw play on a long 3rd down. F*** you Nick Harper and Michael Griffin. WTF? Why would you ruin something like this.

C. Lendale White's 5-yard TD run in Week 3.

Second, we have Lendale White's 5-yard TD run. Lendale Light looked pretty nimble on his way to the endzone. This put us back in the game.

D. Keith Bulluck's interception in Week 5.

Keith Bulluck intercepts Peyton Manning and returns it 23 yards. Great job by Jacob Ford on hitting Manning's arm as he threw it. One thing to point out, though. Bulluck doesn't make this interception if he's in position on the play. It looked like he was trying to get the ball to Dallas Clark on the sideline, who was wide open.

Good thing there were 4 games this week. Otherwise, it would have been very difficult to find 4 plays. 1 point out of a possible 8 just isn't going to cut it (Sadly, the Titans are jealous).

D.(Sabres @ Predators 10/10) Pekka Rinne's multiple saves at 15:15 in the 3rd. Rinne was the only reason the Preds even have chance in this game. He had some amazing saves like this all night.

A. (Blackhawks @ Predators 10/15) Pekka Rinne's multiple saves at 15:52 in the 1st. Well, this was the complete opposite of what we saw in the 1st period of the 2 games before this.

B. (Predators @ Capitals 10/17) Shea Weber's goal at 14:29 in the 2nd ( Patric Hornqvist, Marcel Goc). Finally! It's about time the big man got his goal. Nice laser shot right by Semyon Varlamov. This gave the team some energy after another depressing 1st period.

C. (Predators @ Capitals 10/17) J.P. Dumont's goal at 16:04 in the 2nd. Although this was somewhat of a fluky goal, it was nice to see somebody hustle to the puck and put it towards the goal. Good things happen when you put the puck on net! This goal was also responsible for the 1 point we got this week.

D. (Predators @ Capitals 10/17) Dan Ellis' save at 17:54 in the 3rd. Great job by Ellis on this play to get to the other side and kick the puck away after horrible puck handling by Kevin Klein. Mike Knuble probably could have gotten a better shot on net if he was a little patient, but, nonetheless, great job by Ellis to get us into OT.

Hopefully these next 3 games will make it harder to choose 4 plays (and now I'm off to make up something for the Titans, because there is literally NOTHING to choose from)
