MCM Play of the Week (Week 12)

Please excuse the delay. No excuses. I'm just lazy. Anyways, I still don't think I've been able to comprehend what I witnessed last Sunday. I really hadn't been paying attention to VY's stats until FOX put them up on the screen before the final drive. When I saw that he was almost to 300 yards, I already knew something special was happening. However, I had no idea how special this was going to be.

The obvious winner and other videos after the jump.

A. Chris Johnson runs for an 85-yard TD. Buy these men some cars, CJ. Awesome blocking by the entire line on this run. Not really sure why Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was trash-talking CJ at the end of this run, unless it was just some friendly banter. Not only did CJ start further back than him, he passed him and everybody else. The only reason he tackles him into the endzone is because he lets up. Anyways, Chris Johnson is the best running back in the NFL. It's not even a competition anymore.

B. Vince Young throws a 10-yard pass to Kenny Britt.(1st 4th down conversion) Not sure if I can change anybody's mind on the outcome of this vote, but I think this was the most important play of the game. Without this play, the rest don't even happen and we're all arguing about the draft. When VY first threw the pass, I thought, "Golly Jeepers, that's a pick 6." He actually made a really nice read, however. He waited for the CB to turn his head and then threw a bullet right where Britt needed it to catch it.

C. Vince Young throws a 19-yard pass to Bo Scaife. If, you're going to make a 99-yard game-winning drive, you're going to need some luck, if not a lot of it. Not really another "Music City Miracle" as the announcer idiotically proclaims, but it sure did help. Maybe there was someone special, wearing a 9 jersey, that made sure that ball was caught by a Titan.

D. Vince Young throws a 13-yard pass to Lavelle Hawkins. Has The Hawk finally taken off? I sure hope so. This is one of four huge catches by Lavelle in this game. Amazing what can happen when you stop taking your career for granted and start working your ass off in the film room.

E. Vince Young throws a 10-yard TD pass to Kenny Britt.(the final play) I was at Buffalo Wild Wing's watching this game (which by the way is a pretty fun experience if you like to interact with other fans) and you couldn't hear a pin drop during the play. The place erupted. I ran around hugging people that I didn't know, (and not just a little arm around the neck. Full out bear hugs.) including waiters, waitresses, or anything else that got in my way. Young threw an absolutely perfect pass and Kenny Britt took one hell of a hit while making that amazing catch. Even if we don't finish this miracle run and make the playoffs, that drive alone made my year.

I won't be doing the Play of the Week segment for awhile, or at least until SB Nation can get the embedded NHL.com videos working properly in fanposts. I have been having copyright issues with my edited youtube videos lately. Hopefully this will get resolved soon so I can continue with this.

MCM Play of the Week (Week 11)

Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I'm thankful for all of the play the Titans have been giving the past 4 weeks! Not really any spectacular stuff this week, but we're not going to get an 80-yard TD run every week. These next few weeks will really show us how much this team has improved. That 10 win streak is a lot closer than 4 weeks ago.

A. Vince Young throws a 13-yard TD pass to Kenny Britt. Here's another option play that results in a big play for the Titans. Absolutely perfect throw by Young. Britt's going to be a really special player in this league if we can find a way to maximize he and Young's rare physique and and abilities.

B. Chris Johnson runs for 36 yards. You see, the reason that Adrian Peterson is still the best RB in the league is because Chris Johnson can't break tackles like him. Oh, wait. Chris Johnson can break tackles?And if you're liking all of these crack-back block we're seeing, you're going to see a lot more as much as CJ and VY reverse the field and turn on the speed.

C. Lendale White runs for a 1-yard TD. Good to see the ~~big~~ average-sized man get in there for a relevant play. This has got to be a tough season for him. Although, his lack of production this year could make it a little easier for the Titans to resign him if he's willing. I'd be a fan of that.

D. Vince Young runs for 11 yards. Can any other QB in league do something like that? And if you say Michael Vick then prepare to be slapped, because he can't do that anymore. Dunta Robinson's ankles are still shaking from this move.

E. Chris Johnson runs for 22 yards. It is treat watching this guy run every week. Even if the run-blocking is horrendous, he can still make an amazing play. Enjoy it Titan fans. You're watching history. Question: If we finish 10-6,why should anybody but CJ get MVP?

F. Vince Young's collective plays. I hope I can keep putting this up here every week. This is the man that the Titans organization thought they were getting when they drafted him.

Maybe Chris Johnson's seemingly foolish statement wasn't so foolish after all, especially if he keeps playing like this. We had this exact same record in 2006 at this point in the year, and would have made the playoffs if we beat the Patriots, so even if we lose 1 more game this year, it's still possible. Here's to showing the Texans who they really are on Monday night!

D. Vince Young throws a 33-yard pass to Justin Gage. Wow. I wish this guy would show up every game wearing #12. Of course, this would mean that he fractures his back every game. He climbed the imaginary ladder, then fell off of it. This is actually the kind of pass that I would like to see from VY more. Everybody was covered so he put it in a spot where only Gage was going to get it, and if not, we live to see another play.

And this week's contest.

A. Vince Young throws a 9-yard pass to Chris Johnson. Chris Johnson is the only running back I have ever seen that can reverse field like Barry Sanders, and succeed. Vince Young also threw an awesome block to help CJ get to the edge. Also this play wasn't a huge highlight, it converted a 3rd down that led to a TD, and set the tone for the rest of the game.

B. Chris Johnson runs for a 28-yard TD. Ahmard Hall got the key block for CJ on this long run.(Side note: I wish they would have done something special for the Sarge at the Game Sunday. He deserves anything and everything from this organization.) Isn't it fun watching a player that gets to the edge and you know it's a TD? I love how the announcer just said GONE! right when he hit the hole.

C. Vince Young throws a 38-yard pass to Kenny Britt. May I have some more, please? Hopefully this is something we'll see for years to come. Britt has been a long-ball threat all year, and continues to improve as we get further into the year. He did a nice job of going up and battling for the ball.

D. Vince Young throws a 14-yard TD pass to Nate Washington. Really good decision by Young, there. It was a little off-target, but WR's int he NFL are supposed to catch balls like that.

E. Chris Johnson runs for a 1-yard TD. Chris Johnson is really fast, but he just can't be physical enough to make it in the NFL. Wait, never mind.

F. Vincent Fuller intercepts Trent Edwards and returns it for a TD. Checkmate. Is there a better Nickel Corner in the NFL? I'll go ahead and answer it for you. NO! The other players in the secondary may be stars, but they're nothing without this guy.

G. Rod Hood intercepts Ryan Fitzpatrick and returns it for a TD. 3 games, 3 interceptions, 1 TD. So long, Nick Harper (or so I hope). Oh, and thank you, T.O., for being such a douchecanoe.

H. Vince Young's collective plays. Keep doing it, big man! I'm believing in you more and more each week. I don't cringe every time you drop back to pass now.

I. Bud Adams shoots the bird 10 times. I love that my team's owner actually gets into games. You show 'em we're #1, Bud!

OtF Play of the Week (11/1-11/7)

Sorry for the delay, guys. It's been a busy week and I was hoping some highlights of the LA game would pop up somewhere. Being that the other game we played was just BLEH, I've decide to take all the winners so far and see what the play of the year has been so far. This week has already been much more kind to me as far as highlights go so it should be back to normal next week. Enjoy!

(Stars @ Predators 10/3) Michael Santorelli's goal in the OT Shootout. This came after Legwand's sweet shootout goal that kept the contest going. This was a shot that usually works out in Turco's favor, but he missed it with his glove. This capped off, in my opinion, a really solid night by Santorelli.

(Sabres @ Predators 10/10) Pekka Rinne's multiple saves at 15:15 in the 3rd. Rinne was the only reason the Preds even have chance in this game. He had some amazing saves like this all night.

(Predators @ Capitals 10/17) Shea Weber's goal at 14:29 in the 2nd ( Patric Hornqvist, Marcel Goc). Finally! It's about time the big man got his goal. Nice laser shot right by Semyon Varlamov. This gave the team some energy after another depressing 1st period.

(Predators @ Senators 10/22) Shea Weber's goal at 2:11 in OT ( Ryan Suter, J.P. Dumont). What?!?! A PP goal? He didn't get as much of the puck as he would have liked, but he got enough to end this wild game.

(Predators @ Wild 10/28) Jerred Smithson's goal at 10:44 in the 3rd. These moves came out of nowhere. And for the game-winning SH goal?! Smithson has come up huge in the past few weeks. (True fact: Jerred Smithson taught Alex Ovechkin his legendary toe drag)

Sorry for the delay (gramsey). It's been a busy week. This is 2 weeks in a row where I have more than 4 videos to put up! It's Bizzaro World!

Here's last week's winner.

C. Chris Johnson runs for an 89-yard TD. Now this is real run! CJ was patient, waited for a little crease, ran over 2 guys, busted it for 89 yards, and then puked all over the endzone. You can literally say that he left it all on the field. Anybody else notice how freaking fast Kenny Britt looked running downfield, and getting the final block? Seems to be a common occurrence on Johnson's long runs. Coincidence? (Update: Apparently, he didn't actually throw up after the play. Maybe I should have read first. I'm keeping all of this here though because it just makes the play more BA)

And this week's contest.

A. Vince Young throws a 49-yard pass to Justin Gage. A deep throw by the titans?!?! It seems that 'Dinger opened the playbook a little bit more this week for VY, and he proved he was ready for it. If the throw is a little more on-target, this is a TD. Gage got separation on the CB (gasp) and had an open lane to the endzone. Oh well, I'll take it.

B. Rod Hood intercepts Alex Smith. 2 games, 2 interceptions. Not bad. Michael Griffin showed some glimpses of his play from last year on this play. It's good to see Griff get some mention on a play where he isn't burned. Hood>Harper.

C. Vince Young runs for a 7-yard TD. What is this? 2006? CJ gets the nice block on Patrick Willis, who, according to Ian Eagle 2342 times in the game, is just as fast as CJ. Fail. Anyways, it's good to see VY cut to the middle and go upfield instead of cut to the sidelines.

E.Chris Johnson runs for a 2-yard TD. Yeah, we scored, but I hate 'Dinger for this. If you're going to run an option like this on 4th down, at least run it to the longer side of the field and give them more room to work with. Oh well, CJ is a beast.

F. Chris Hope intercepts Alex Smith. Good to see Hope getting a pick, too. I think this interception was bigger than Finny's pick 6. We were only up by 4, and Hope stepped up big time to help close out the game.

G. Cortland Finnegan intercepts Alex Smith and returns it for a TD. Thank you Vincent Fuller! He may not be a star, but he's the glue to this secondary in nickel situations. Oh, and Ian Eagle: You're an idiot. Where does it look like he steps out? This was Finnegan's 3rd interception in 5 games.

H. Vince Young's collective plays. Kepp proving me wrong! Everybody keeps saying that we'll really see how much you've learned when you lose a game. I would not like to find that out if possible. Please?
