The Ricky-Alexy duo

After reading yesterday's A Wolf Among Wolves post about how Ricky Rubio and Alexy Shved might play together like the Duane Allman and Dickey Betts, I got to thinking about what their pairing might...

Reasons for optimism!

Okay, so our favorite professional basketball team just lost five games in a row, including three in row with its best player back from injury. Worse, all five losses came at the hands of beatable...

NBA Draft Success Rates

In a conversation here, a few members of the community were discussing the unfortunate recent draft history of our Minnesota Timberwolves, and others pointed out a few other teams who hadn't been...

Detroit Pistons vs. Minnesota Timberwolves: Game Preview

The Timberwolves will play their penultimate preseason game at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba against the Detroit Pistons tonight at 7:00 pm CST. I can't find any information about...

Michelobius Weekend Talker

This hasn't been done in a few weeks so I thought I would give it a try since I have a few things to talk about. I know we're still all aglow about Wednesday's game, and are excited for the second...

Presidential debate analysis

I was surprised when I checked CH this morning and didn't see any discussion of last night's debate, so I thought I'd stir things up by getting people's opinions, since political talk tends to be...

Player Rankings

Okay, so the ESPN NBA player rankings have reached the obvious number one spot, and since there has been a lot of complaining around these parts about this list (and since the ESPN Sports Nation...

Playoff match-ups?

It's been a bit slow on CH lately, so I thought I would try to liven things up a bit with some Wolves-related discussion. Assuming the Timberwolves make the playoffs, which realistic match-up...

Timberwolves highest ranked Minnesota franchise

"Progress comes in a variety of forms, and in the case of the Minnesota Timberwolves that even includes a .394 winning percentage. The Wolves won 26 of the (lockout-shortened) 66 available games last season, their highest total since 2006-07 and best winning percentage since 2005-06. Dig a little deeper and the promise grows: Minnesota was actually a .500 team before Ricky Rubio tore an ACL and the team limped (pun intended) to a 5-20 finish. Rubio and the increasingly dominant Kevin Love give fans a reason to take advantage of the NBA's sixth-lowest average ticket price ($31.50). But there are other factors helping fuel a 47-position rise in our rankings. Rick Adelman rates 89 spots better than predecessor Kurt Rambis, who lost 132 games in two seasons on Minnesota's sideline. A proposed $135 million face-lift for the 22-year-old Target Center should add juice to a wildly unpopular game experience. How badly are improvements needed? With city budgets tight, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak denied that the use of public funds in the redo would be "money down a rat hole." So yeah, there's still room for progress."

First post - How do bad-to-decent upgrades look historically?

Hi everyone, this is my first post on CH, though I've been lurking since I couldn't get enough Wolves news during the Batum saga. I really dig the community and I think there are some excellent...
