I haven't really posted much here before.. not because my lack of interest but more out of my lack of knowlegde of the game. I can ramble on about beer, but not so much about football. I feel that since I'm learning from the best damn bacon flavored place on the whole Interweb I may as well share an idea and see what the BSDers all thought of it.

For the OSU game I was thinking of an idea. Get a few fans together and hold up individual pieces of paper that when assembled properly would look like Pryor crying on the bench. My concern is that if it were too large it might be distracting and I'm not sure of the rules or if the team could be penalized in any way for it. But since I'm a few bottles of homebrew into the night right now I think it's pretty hilarious.

An alternative is a BSD sign. Anyway, back to brewing!

Verizon and BTN

I was just wondering what experiences any of you have had with Verizon and the Big Ten Network.. here is a response my friend recieved from the BTN after he complained about the coverage..

An excerpt from his email: "I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA and I am a die-hard Penn State fan and an alumni. I switched to Verizon FiOS TV prior to the beginning of the football season, with one of the prominent reasons being to have Big Ten Network to watch the Penn state games covered on BTN this year. This week, Temple vs PSU was supposed to be playing in my market area based on the coverage map, however when I entered my zip code and carrier on this site, I was informed that my featured game would be Troy at tOSU. To complicate things even more, the game that is ACTUALLY aired on Saturday, September 20 was neither, it was Central Michigan at Purdue."

Their Response: "Thank you for your email regarding Verizon FiOS and the Big Ten
Network. The Big Ten Network makes all games available to Verizon,
however, Verizon is unable to carry more than one game at a time
during weeks in which the network airs multiple games simultaneously,
furthermore, Verizon does not have the technological ability to
regionalize our game offerings. Verizon may select which game it will
offer and that particular game will then be delivered to all Verizon
customers nationwide (the game Verizon chooses may not necessarily be
the Big Ten Network's "main" game as evidence this week by their
selection of Central Michigan vs. Purdue). Please contact Verizon
directly if you have further questions regarding the game selection.

Thank you for the e-mail. – Big Ten Network"

I was about to shell out the money for Fios and it's supposed great service but it seems rediculous that they could only show one game, and I heard that in the Philly area through Fios, the BTN is pixellated and choppy at best. With all of the posts here over the weekend about coverage and overflow channels for the BTN, I felt the need to share the info even though it might rehash old posts.. I know it's old news that a lot of people aren't fans of the BTN.. I agree. It would have been better to not create the network at all and show games on local channels or ESPN ocho.
