Jared Odrick may be on the trade block...okay with me.

+

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald suggests that the Dolphins might place RE Jared Odrick on the trade block. Odrick was drafted to play "five technique" in a 3-4 defense. The Dolphins are a 4-3 now, and Odrick lacks explosive ability requisite for 4-3 defensive ends. "He's not a fit for the scheme," Salguero writes. Odrick has cheap base salaries through 2014, is only 25 years old, and possesses an ideal skill set for the 3-4. He could likely bring back a second-day draft pick via trade.

Kelce cleared to run

+

Eagles C Jason Kelce (torn ACL) has been cleared to resume running. Kelce is on pace in his rehab after going down in Week 2, and should be ready for the beginning of camp. It's possible he'll spend some time on the active/PUP list, but it would be very surprising if he opened the regular season on reserve/PUP. A svelte (for a center) 6-foot-3, 282 pounds, the third-year pro should help anchor new coach Chip Kelly's fast-paced attack in 2013.

Andy wanted Alex Smith in 2012

9

According to ESPN's Trent Dilfer, new Chiefs coach Andy Reid "courted" Alex Smith last offseason. "There was a courtship last year, to a certain degree," Dilfer said. "I don't know a whole lot. I just know there was a courtship. It was not even an inside source, you know what I mean? It was just kind of the scuttle in the offseason." Dilfer and Smith are close friends from their days as teammates in 2006-07, and Smith was available on the 2012 free agent market for roughly a week before signing a three-year, $24 million deal to stay in San Francisco. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that the Chiefs were one of the teams already showing interest in Smith. The tea leaves suggest Kansas City is the early favorite to land Smith via trade, likely for a middle-round pick.

Let's play a game: Who can find the contradiction or horrible excuse for journalism (you pick)? This is why PFT sucks, they copy and paste reports and then come up with opinion-based non-sense that they don't attribute to anyone.

Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole has been told that $3 million of Michael Vick's $15.5 million salary for 2013 becomes guaranteed on March 11, not February 6 as previously reported. If true, the later date allows the Eagles more time to think things over now that Chip Kelly is on board. It's thought that with Kelly now in town, Vick may be more willing to renegotiate his massive deal and stick around. The quarterback's departure from Philadelphia was once widely viewed as a lock, but it now seems to be less certain.

Happy New Year!!! Big Dix is Back!!!!

1

Eagles re-signed DT Antonio Dixon. Dixon spent his first three seasons in Philadelphia, but was released at final cuts this year because he didn't fit Jim Washburn's Wide-9 scheme. Now that Washburn is gone, the Eagles are bringing Dixon back into their organization for the offseason program. Nick Foles was placed on IR.

1

Last week, Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson was hospitalized with viral pneumonia. A league source tells PFT that the Eagles now plan to place Patterson on the non-football injury/illness list for the balance of the season. Per the source, the Eagles also plan to exercise their discretion to reduce Patterson’s pay, not completely but partially. The move is expected to cause hard feelings, especially since it’s entirely possible that Patterson initially got sick because of practicing or playing in the elements. Moreover, the money that will be saved (roughly $150,000, we’re told) could do far more damage to the team’s relationship with Patterson — or to the reputation of the front office within the locker room. As the Eagles wrap up a difficult season and prepare for what all appearances will be a new era, it’s not a good look.

Tickle me bizarre: OL Nate Menkin goes on IR for Throat Fracture

2

Eagles placed G/T Nate Menkin on injured reserve with a throat injury, ending his season. Per Menkin's Twitter feed, he has "fractured cartilage in my throat." Ouch. A reserve lineman, Menkin made zero appearances after being claimed off waivers from the Texans in September. The UDFA out of Mary Hardin-Baylor will be hard-pressed to earn a roster spot out of camp next season. Rotoworld, Jeff McLane

Pretty sure we know where Andy is going

3

As you've probably read or heard, San Diego's paper is reporting Spanos will shit-can the Lord of No Rings A.J. Smith and I've been "Norv'd" Norv Turner at the end of the season. Andy is from California, and the team would likely give him all the power he wants.

Herremans open to playing guard

5

With the way Jake Scott and Dennis Kelly are currently playing and with Kelce, Todd, and Peters on the mend, does anyone else think we might be able to get away with not signing a FA or drafting O-Line help until the third round? I think DE and CB should be priorities come April.

Eagles signed OG Jake Scott and waived OL Julian Vandervelde. Scott, an eight-year veteran, spent the previous four seasons with the Titans. He garnered plenty of interest on the open market in the offseason but was reportedly not willing to accept the veteran's minimum. Scott graded out as a top-10 guard in 2011, according to Pro Football Focus.

Source: Michael Vick could be 'rested' remainder of season as Eagles' Andy Reid tries to save job

+

Andy is trying to save his job. Foles is likely the dude for the time being at least. I think this is the right move for Andy, the Eagles and the fans. While we may still lose, we'll at least be watching someone, who will be around and is wanted by management. I think Foles showed enough last night to give us a bit of optimism. He has to improve, but you watched his presser, you could tell he gets "it."

CSN Philly reports there is a "very good chance" RT Todd Herreman's season is over after suffering a tendon injury in his foot-ankle area. "It's not good," one team official said. "It doesn't look good at all. We're still waiting for [more test results], but it looks bad." The Eagles are already without LT Jason Peters, C Jason Kelce, and RG Danny Watkins. Michael Vick was sacked a season-high seven times Monday night by a Saints defense that had just 13 sacks through the first seven games. Free agent bust Demetress Bell is expected to fill in for Herremans.

Free agent LB Ernie Sims is expected to sign with the Cowboys. Sean Lee (turf toe) is done for the year, leaving the Cowboys thin at linebacker. Dan Connor and Bruce Carter will start on the inside, with Orie Lemon backing them up. Sims, who has been on the street since the end of last season, has spent most of his career as a 4-3 outside 'backer. Rob Ryan runs a 3-4 scheme in Dallas.

Colts signed DT Antonio Dixon. Dixon was waived at final cuts by the Eagles. Dixon had success as a run-stuffer in 2010, but proved to be a poor fit for Jim Washburn's "wide-nine" scheme in 2011. Dixon could become a part of the defensive-line rotation for a Colts team that's struggled against the run this season, and provides insurance for NT Martin Tevaseu (ankle).

Steelers refer to Brandon Boykin as "the candy bar."

+

Wow, Antonio Brown needs to check himself before he takes a Nate Allen shoulder tackle to the head... The reason why Boykin has given up plays is because he's going against Larry Fitzgerald and Victor Cruz without a ton of safety help.

Say what you want about Vick (I say a lot) but at least he isn't a bitch like RG3

4

RG3 would not do well in Philly or with our fans, if he was on the team and said some of this crap. Just saying, that's not being bad fans that's appreciating toughness.

Bills released QB Vince Young. Through three preseason games, Young completed 25-of-52 passes (48.1 percent) for 276 yards, with no touchdowns and two interceptions. This comes on the heels of a disastrous season 2011 season in Philadelphia which saw him compile a 60.8 passer rating in six appearances. If Young can't succeed under quarterback gurus Andy Reid and Chan Gailey, he's in big trouble.
