In Lou We Trust Panic Time? Only at the Garden, apparently...

I was absolutely disgusted with the other night's embarrassing loss to the Rangers at the Garden.  Two weeks ago, I was so amped up about this team; I threw out in conversation the fact that this year's squad impressed me just as much as the 00'-01' team, and that there's no rhyme or reason why we shouldn't make the Eastern Conference Finals at minimum.

Now?  Look at us.  Everything we've done for 70+ games - skate hard, make a big save, score a timely goal, stay the ____ out of the penalty box - has been INVISIBLE.  No one is exempt from blame - two of the goals the other night should have been stopped by the greatest statistical goalie of all time.

Panic?  Not yet...but close.  I'm a realist, and I know we're going to enter the playoffs against either a very tough team in Carolina (am I the only person in the world that thinks Cam Ward is the most underrated goaltender in the league?) or a team we just seem to be intimidated to play against in the Rangers.  Either team I don't want to face, seeing as how we've played them recently.  I can only hope Sutter's rant and practice today will force these guys to pull themselves out of this potential season-killing slump they're currently mired in.

Bottom line: One game at a time.  We need to take it to this hot Penguins team from the drop of the puck.  We need to play tenacious on the forecheck as well as the PK (because we all know Darling Sidney playing alone means the League's going to spot Pitt at least a two PP advantage tonight).  We need to have our guys in front of Fleury at all times.  And we need to keep our foot on their necks if we get the lead.
