I was born in Chicago, moved to Ohio, and landed in Denver in the 3rd grade, back in 1992. I remember getting to go to a few games here and there with family and friends, learning who Elway, Sharpe, McAffrey, Smith, Davis, and all the other players were, and what football meant to Denver. There was a whole lot of spirit, and that was before we'd ever even won a Superbowl! And then of course I remember '97 and '98. Best part about it was I got the day off from school (once in 7th grade, and then again in 8th) to go to the parade with friends. Two of my favorite memories! (Okay the school didn't really give us the day off but we went anyways..Clearly our parents sanctioned it since we weren't driving age ;) )

And the rest, as they say, is history. And folks, since then, there's just been no stopping my passion for Broncos football. What can I say? I like to see 'em win.

Mile High Report 2008 Ups and Downs - favorite vs. worst games

I apologize if anyone has already done a post like this closer to when the 2008 season ended (I only joined MHR a couple of months ago), but it's a post I've wanted to do for a while now in order to see what the community's thoughts are.

The 2008 season is long over and the team has undergone considerable change. We have a new head coach, GM, and quarterback, not to mention a lot of other new players, coaching staff, and personnel. Suffice it to say, with all of this change, the 2008 Denver Broncos are gone. Really and truly, they are gone.

For good or for bad.

And I think it's hard to say which it is at this point. I've read a lot of varying viewpoints on the matter in this community and I agree with many of them (even sometimes ones that directly contradict one another!) But all of this, for the purpose of this post, is beside the point. Because the 2008 Denver Broncos were a team that belonged to all of us. Regardless of how we feel now, they were a team we all rallied behind, supported, and wanted to succeed. They were a team we all pinned our hopes on and rooted for mercilessly on Sunday afternoons. As we say goodbye to this 2008 team (for better or for worse), I'd like to ask all of the fans here at MHR the following:

1. What was your favorite game from 2008? As a fan, what was your favorite win?

and

2.  What was the worst loss? Which game brought you the most disappointment?

Feel free to cite an '06 or '07 game if you'd rather.. Anything before that though and the team is really quite different. Hopefully that's okay with everyone.

For me, the answer is:

1) The San Diego win in September - I don't really care about the Hochuli call. I was travelling at the time and my gf and I were in a sports bar in Texas with a ton of Bolts fans and we were all going crazy. Needless to say I was one of the few happy ones leaving that bar that afternoon.

2) The Buffalo loss - mainly because  I really thought we should have had that game.

Thanks everyone for reading, and if you're open to sharing you're opinion, I can't wait to read it. Thanks!

Mile High Report Very few DLine draft picks.. is this good or bad?

I like our team's picks for the most part with the exception that I expected more defensive front seven picks. So I was a litte disappointed here... I think there are a few out there who may feel similarly, and since I do not know/see everything that the GM/HC do, I decided to turn to something I do have insight into, which would be player stats and bios =).

I compared our defensive front seven with those of the Patriots, Steelers (other 3-4s) as well as the Ravens (b/c their defense is so stellar). I looked at height and weight, and calculated the lbs/in for each player. I was curious how the average of all three of these categories compared between teams. I was also curious about players' years of NFL experience and took this average as well. Lastly I pulled draft position info, but I didnt really end up doing anything with this.. It varied widely, and sometimes I didn't find the info. If I got anything wrong please correct me, I was kind of trying to get this over with by the end.

Here's the summary...

Mile High Report Debunking the myth that championships require a strong passing offense

While I am certainly excited to see what Orton can do with our offense in 2009, I think most of us would probably agree that we wouldn't be surprised if our offense was statistically less impressive this coming season. Of course, there's always a chance this may not be true with regards to points (we know we have a first class receiving corps and offensive line, and a better than decent prospect for starting QB) but I think our farewell to the rocket arm more or less guarantees us fewer passing yards.

Mile High Report Who's excited for the future of this team? (I am!)

Fellow fans, I just want to say that today I finally feel EXCITED for the new era. We may be building for a couple of years, but I am feeling really great about where our team is going to go. Why? The following:

- McDaniels' interviews from today - wow! I"m feeling confident in his abilities and excited about his leadership

-Cutler's interviews - thank you JC, for clearing up any doubt on why this situation had the outcome it did

This will all be a road bump in a few years when we look back and reflect that the right decisions really were made.

Can't wait to see who we get in the draft, but looking forward to reading all the speculation on MHR!!!  =).
