I became a Packer fan as a young boy in Ohio when Lombardi was coach and Bart Starr was the quarterback. Two things stood out about the Packers for me as a 7 to 9 year-old boy, they won championships and they had colorful uniforms, while every other NFL team at that time wore grey, brown, white or black.

I missed out - for the most part - on the Favre years, since I went to East Africa as a Christian missionary from 1989 to 2009. I was able to see a few games and spent one football season in America during those years. But, to be honest, I certainly wouldn't trade my real life experiences in Africa for watching football, even the Packers.

I'm glad to be back in the US, living in Virginia, though I miss Africa. It is good to be able to watch the Packers play every week.
